This is a perfect family game for parents to play with children ages 2-4. The game is easy to understand and there's plenty of giggling when the pirate pops up. Each game lasts about five minutes, so there was plenty of time to play it multiple times before the kids grew tired. This also ensured that more than one player won.
We played with our Pop-Up Pirate for about a year before our sons grew beyond it. Now, we play Othello and chess and dominoes.』

But unless you cleverly turn the barrel, the same two slots make the pirate jump every time. The first few times we played it, it changed slots, but after about 5 times, its the same old slot that triggers the pop. But just a quick turn on the barrel, and they never know the difference. Not worth the money though, if you ask me.』

She was very excited to play this game and it was hard to keep her from wanting to move the pieces in the wrong places. She wanted to play with all the characters but had to realize you can only use 2 of them when playing with just 2 people. I got it for my three year old daughter (A big Dora Fan) and all she cared about at first was the big Dora picture on the box. I set up the game, and didn't have to tell her anything except: pick a card and move the amount of color spots that you are told. She understood right away. This is the perfect game to teach kids the main concept of playing board games. All of my other children love it (her twin brother and my 5 year old son). They all decide when they want to play, and each have their favorite game piece (the boys alternate between Diego and Boots). I can't help but play this game with them too. I highly recommend this game for children. As long as your child knows the main colors and can couunt to five, he/she can play this game. My only regret is not getting it sooner.』

The mouse cable could be improved so that the mouse would be more stable on the pad with the cable side up. It often turns around causing problem for not-so-experienced users. The real issue is the availability of games. Right now there is choice but not a lot. I hope Leapfrog opens up game development so that independent parties can develop educational and fun games.』

(Fun and educational preschool computer!) 『I got this as a gift for my 4-year old son's birthday and he LOVES it. I've read other reviews complaining about the graphics which I think is silly. Of course the graphics look like the old Nintento--look at the console it's very similar. You want high quality graphics drop $300 bucks and get yourself a PS3. You want a gaming system that your kid will love and learn from buy the click start.
I like that my son can operate the click start on his own and is learning and having a ball. Also, the system itself is very portable--the mouse clicks into the keyboard and the console is small and lightweight.
Do be sure to buy yourself a wall adapter or pick up 4 C battaries for the console. You'll also need 4 AA battaries for the keyboard which, despite what Amazon says, are not included.
I compared the click start to the v smile too and it blows it away--the click start is more fun, more educational and is adorable. I also think it's great that my son is using a keyboard and a mouse, building computer skills that he will be using as he gets older. 』

(Great concept that failed) 『This is such a great concept. My kids were excited about it, it looked perfect and could have been such a wonderful product.
The concept I give 5 stars. The product itself I give 1 star (especially when you factor in the price you pay for a flawed product).
The product is sturdy and colorful. Cordless which makes it easy for the kids to move around with. The games are educational and great for the kids.
All around it is a great product. Except for one thing. The mouse does not work. My kids so wanted to play with it and ended up frustrated that it didn't work right. I sat down to try it out and it was extremely difficult for me to use (as well as my 12yr old and husband who also tried it out). When you add in the small mouse pad and it is just even more difficult to use.
I tried rolling it on the carpet and using a regular mouse pad next to it. None of this helped.
My kids never play with it besides the few times they tried to. I have thought about just giving them the computer part to pretend with. But, it's too expensive for that. I went out and bought them one of those battery operated laptops instead.
I am thinking of selling this thing on Ebay or something. It's useless, a disapointment and irritates me that I wasted so much money on it. The product cost me $60.-, I paid the $10.- for the adapter and then paid taxes (because it shipped from my state) and s&h charges. So, in the end, I paid about $90.- for it all. Luckily I didn't order additional games.
