(Inexpensive family fun, perfect for kids ages 2-4)
『There's not much to this game and that's the charm for young players. Each player has colored swords they stick in the barrel and one sword activates the pirate, which pops out.

This is a perfect family game for parents to play with children ages 2-4. The game is easy to understand and there's plenty of giggling when the pirate pops up. Each game lasts about five minutes, so there was plenty of time to play it multiple times before the kids grew tired. This also ensured that more than one player won.

We played with our Pop-Up Pirate for about a year before our sons grew beyond it. Now, we play Othello and chess and dominoes.』

『We have had this toy for about two years now. It is still a favorite. My then 2, 4, and 5 year olds loved it! Now that they are 4,6, and 7 they still love it. But unless you cleverly turn the barrel, the same two slots make the pirate jump every time. The first few times we played it, it changed slots, but after about 5 times, its the same old slot that triggers the pop. But just a quick turn on the barrel, and they never know the difference. Not worth the money though, if you ask me.』

『My daughter got this puzzle when she just turned a year old and she has used and abused it... but you would never know it. Melissa&Doug products really hold up and stand the test of toddlers. Yes they are more expensive than some others, but who cares? THEY LAST. I will be able to keep their products around for my next several children. My daughter has since mastered this puzzle so we are moving up to the 24 and 48 piece Melissa&Doug puzzles, but I know they will hold up as well.』

We have had them for over 4 months now&haven't had any chipping or splinters. Yes, there are sometimes where she is grumpy&gets whiny about how she can't do it, but that's when we just take a cue to sit with her as she usually just wants some company. Depending on the day, her mood, it is a good toy for her to busy herself with alone or something one of us can sit&do with her. We're adding some new ones to the list for her birthday.』

『After reading the other review I baught this puzzle for my son. I have had this puzzle for about a week now, and prob. going to have to toss it. As if with the tightness mentioned in the other review isnt already frustrationg enough, The puzzle pieces are made with layerd wood and taking the puzzle apart made the peices crack&chip and now have little wood peices all over the floor, and some pictures started to peel off. With all this going on I dont think it is save now with the sharp corners and most likely splinters coming soon and if your child is still randomly putting stuff in his mouth still, then he might choke or cut himself. Short to say dont buy, waste of money and time.』

『My 2-1/2 yr old son enjoys puzzles,so this was a good first "jig sawy" type one to step up to. No photo underneath, but there's one on the back for parents to refer to. I am not sure if he's memorized where everything goes or if he's actually looking at the picture&matching stuff up. All the same, he loves this one as well as the 24 piece versions we're just starting him on. THe puzzles are very durable; a bit tight-fitting in the beginning, but will multiple use, the pieces go together more smoothly. No splitters; no cons so far to this; fits in a puzzle organzier.

『"Santa" brought this camera for our 3 year old son. We were excited for him to have it because he could be a little rough, as boys are, and it wouldn't break. To my surprise he was very gentle with it. He's dropped it a couple of times on accident, but it still worked fine. It was very easy for him to use. He could hold it up and look at the screen (as grown-ups do) or he could look through the double eye views to see his picture. He learned how to review the pictures, delete them and turn the camera on and off by himself.

The picture quality is great for a toddler camera. I think when most people get this they expect the same quality as their own camera. Keep in mind this is for a toddler, who doesn't care what the picture looks like, they just want to take them.

The camera holds about 60 pictures. I have a cheap 512mb SD card which holds more than enough for him to go crazy with pictures.

My computer picks up the camera as soon as I plug it in (I have windows Vista). I have no problems downloading the pictures (I think if people do it's a user problem not a camera problem).

The flash does make the pictures really bright, and I have found that the best distance for taking pictures is around 3-4 feet away.

We have had our camera for 7 months now and the flash doesn't work. The symbol for the flash indicates that it is ready, and even in a dark setting there is no flash. I would like to see a little more customer support available on these matters.

I know others who have this camera and they don't have this problem, so it might just be this one (which is not unheard of).

Overall, if you are looking for a camera for your 3-5 year old I would say, get it. It's kid friendly, the size is perfect for little hands, it's easy to use and with the aid of a cheap SD card they can take hundreds of pictures at a time. Battery life is great, and the screen resolution is fine for a kid (they can tell what they took a picture of).』

『We bought this camera 15 months ago for our son's fourth birthday. He was very excited at first, but he found the poor display kind of disappointing. When we put the photos on his computer for him to play with, he was a lot more interested, and we encouraged him to photograph mainly outdoors where the photo quality was better. (Only with absolutely fresh batteries did the flash work well.)

But, as so many have pointed out, be bought it as a toy and it did what we expected it to do.

Now, Jack is a rpetty laid back fellow, and his camera didn't take a beating. We worked hard to help him learn to use the camera as though it were an adults camera, since that's our next step.

Nonetheless, after a bit over a year, the camera has stopped working. Very disappointing.』

『I bought this camera for my son's 6th birthday and he LOVES it! The pics are a little white washed, it's true- but overall the pros really outweigh the cons: He can manage it all himself (and it's really user friendly), he really loves having the digital display like mommy's and seeing his picture immediately, and the camera is super sturdy and easy for him to use! I ended up getting a SD card so he could save more pics between uploads onto the family computer because once he starts clicking, he can't stop- he has too much fun! The camera stores approx 30 pics- but with a cheap SD card the camera can now hold about 200 before it's memory is full. Well worth it.

FYI: the pictures look a little worse on the display (it is only 1.2 mega pixels, afterall) than they do when you upload them onto a computer. We've even printed a few for his first photo album of his own shots and they're really not all that bad. Overall, it's a GREAT camera for little ones and I will be getting one for my nieces and nephews for their birthdays.』
