I think he's taken other parts of it off from time to time as well...each time making me think it's broken (but it's not). He does enjoy putting the cars "to sleep" each night before bedtime in the little storage compartments on the backside.』

His older (8 year old) brother loves them too and it is an opportunity for them to actually work together cooperatively (at least so far!). (It's a toss up as to who loves this toy most!) 『My son received this for his 2nd birthday a few months ago, because of his intrest in it at a local children's museum. All I can say is that I'm uncertain who loves it more, him or his parents! It certainly sparks creative thinking as we try to outdo each other in our creations! I didn't realize that I had it in MYSELF to be so creative. This toy just brings it out of you. I swear I find myself playing with it for long periods of time when I'm actually just supposed to be putting it away! It's quite peaceful actually! The mathmatical concepts it's already teaching my son make it priceless as well! He's learning spacial reasoning, critical thinking (will this structure hold if I...) as well as shapes, colors and creativity.
If you are like me, I faithfully read all the reviews before purchasing an item and went with others suggestions and purchased the clear tiles. Personally I like the clear tiles! The uses seem to be endless. I must add that although it is a large monetary investment, I feel it is wiser to purchase the set of 100 as 32 simply isn't enough. This toy will certainly span the ages, thus worth the investment.』

(Great learning toy but shapes don't fit together) 『I love Melissa&Doug toys because they are educational, innovative and lead-free. However, though this toy is great because of the educational aspect and the magnetics, my son and I were disappointed that the shapes don't align and fit together properly because they have rounded tips. This makes it hard to make the patterns it comes with. If your child would be frustrated because they want it to fit perfectly, then you might consider their other pattern block sets in the wooden box. They have a Beginner one and another one which has more pieces. These have straight lines because they are not magnetic. Here are the links to these two products.

(Fun, but not very portable....) 『As soon as I saw this product, I wanted to get it. The idea was wonderful...my child gets into a panic when pieces don't line up perfectly.
I love the patterns that came with it, but strangely, some of the pieces fit in an awkward fashion on there...they don't want to line up.
Also, the numerous tiny pieces make it difficult to keep them "corralled". I just used a baggie, but my intention was to take this along on car rides. I have a feeling these pieces will disappear quickly if we do that.
Overall, this is a great product, but it is definitely more for seat work. It is not as portable as I thought it would be.

(Great train set for a kid interested in trains) 『We bought this train set at first because we didn't want Thomas the Train, but we wanted something durable. We have a few Melissa&Doug toys, and they are really well-built. Our son LOVES this set. It comes with a few different train configurations to get started, but even at two years old, he is starting to develop his own configuration. We build our tracks on our really old, low quality carpet, so we don't have to worry as much about the train tracks coming apart, but you can invest in some SureTrack if that might be a problem. One thing that is hard for us is that the elevated portion of the track falls easily (because of the lack of stability on our carpet and the lack of self awareness of a two-year-old). We haven't used the bridges that often unless they are shored up against some furniture. All in all, the train set is exactly what we wanted, mostly track, some trains, and very few filler pieces (trees, signs, people, etc.)』

To me, that makes it well worth the money. Both boys know how to hook it up to the television and insert the games. It can be difficult for the little ones to know that they've fully inserted the game. My six year old has a form of autism and some sensory issues. He gets good sensory input from cycling. I've found that learning while doing a form of gross motor activity seems to be helpful in retaining what is being learned. That's just an added bonus. We're looking forward to adding some new games this year!』
(Not worth the money!) 『We bought this for our 3 1/2 yr old daughter. We wanted her to be active indoors because the Florida summer is too hot to be outside. It was easy to set-up and she loved peddling it, but the games were slow, jumpy and didn't keep up with her. She is somewhat advanced in her intellectual development and is accustomed to fast moving games on-line and this just bored her. We turned it on and she wouldn't last 5 minutes, then she would tell us she was bored. She would sit on it and peddle it while watching TV. It's VERY sturdy. We had NO concerns about her safety, but she didn't like the slow games. We just didn't think it was worth the money to keep it. We had it less than 2 weeks, then returned it to the "major toy retailer" where we had purchased it on sale for $20 less than the current price on Amazon.』
(Waste of money.) 『The SmartCycle was on the top of my 3 year old's Christmas list shortly after they were introduced by Fisher Price.
While we haven't had any real problems with it, I'm still left feeling as though it was a waste of money. The graphics are terrible, and gameplay is slow and much more simple than initially expected. And, as other reviewers have mentioned, the lack of ability to actually save progress on games played makes for frustrating repetition.
Over the past 9 months my son has probably played with this toy about 5 times, at no more than 15 minutes each.
I can definitely see where some children would actually enjoy this bike, but it seems to be more of a novelty than anything.』
(A huge disappointment) 『Santa brought this toy to my then 4 year-old son because we live in an area that snows heavily for 6 to 7 months of the year. He saw commercials and thought it looked fun and we thought it would be good exercise for him. We put it together and after about 15 minutes of riding it, one pedal came off. We were able to put it back on and the other fell off a few minutes later; and it happened immediately again. Time got away from us before we tried to put the other back on, again, and now it won't go back on and it's most likely too late to return it. He literally got about 20 minutes use out of it and it's not the cheapest toy on the block! The idea is great but too cheaply made.』

...don't like that he can leave it on and kill the batteries. We have yet to wear out all those D batteries through continued use. It always happens that the cycle gets left on and eats the batteries.
...can't believe that there are no more games. There were a handful of games available when we bought the thing and apparently no new ones have come out since. I wonder how much it matters, though, since most games are basically the same. They're different enough that my son enjoys some more than others, but they are in large part all the same.
