Although I really liked some other houses that were made of wood, they were too expensive. I thought this was a better buy to see if she would get into playing with dollhouses seriously.
Keep in mind that there is a bit of assembly when you receive the box - The house is together, but you have to put all of the exterior trim on and the staircase.
My main disappointment with the house is that I thought it should have come with more furniture to start. It only came with the basic family (mom, dad&twin babies), a kitchen table set with 2 chairs&2 booster seats. Thank goodness I wound up buying the extra furniture sets (bathroom, parents' bedroom, nursery&mini van). For the price, i think they should have at least included the kitchen appliances.
Also, I found that one of the folding doors in the back does not readily latch and keeps popping open when transporting the house. And the staircase gets in the way - it blocks 1/2 of the first floor! (I just leave this loose so it can be taken out easily)
Finally, why didn't Fisher-Price put in a doorbell that makes sound?! That is one of the most requested items on the house from my daughter. She would love to have a doorbell!
Oervall, this is a very durable, quality product from Fisher-Price and I think it is an excellent 1st doll house for this price range.

features (ish) *You can flip the big sceen tv down to make a deck-type thing -my friend&i thought it was fun to put one of the sparkly kitty pets right on the hinge, then push the button to open the tv part, and watch the kitty go flying..;) poor cat. The deck does have trouble latching, and it isnt a very secure latch when it is...
*race down the slide -it is hard to really put anyone down the slide without the boat/raft/tubes they are weighted, and also trigger the race winner flag things.(as does anything that hits the "buttons") The pic shows both "flags" up, but this is impossible unless you have a faulty toy or pry the second one up. The first polly down the slide triggers their "flag" signifying she is the winner(even if you werent racing, lol)
*Swing - you can push polly (or anyone else you can get to stay on there) on the swing(if you cn get her in, as this is mildly diffcult) by pushing a button above it(the swing. You kind of have to get in a weird rythm pushing it, otherwise it will catch and mess up. you could just push polly the "old-fashioned" way
*color-change -polly&her puppy have color change features. when you buy this set, they will most likely already have happened.(polly's pink hair&both of their polka-dotted swim suits) So stick them in a glass of hot water to reverse them. I figured that after a while, they would go back on their own, but they haven't, which i am happy about. to make them appear(or re-appear) stick them in the pool, or if your pool is warm, stick them in a glass of cold water.
*rubber -i love the jelly-belts on the rafts, and the jelly goggles for the polly pup
*slides- fun. you can also play with this set without them.
I never rly liked polly clothes, as they restrict polly's movement. my polly's almost always hung out "naked"....so the pool is a good excuse for them not to have to have clothes! lol
I like this polly's tan, suit, face(size,shape,&look),and hair. I love the puppy.
Very good price, especially compared to other polly sets, etc. so if you see it cheap, BUY IT with no hesitation! it only has a few flaws, and all-in-all is fun!

The sun doesn't stop moving and it's hard to release his skin from there when the incident occurs. After several incidents I have notified the manufacturer. They have noted the problem. M&D seems to skimp or wood quality and on the objects' finish. This shape sorter compares unfavorable to Plan's 3-shape sort. The M&D sorter arrived cracked. The blocks aren't very smooth and don't feel great in the hand like Plan's do. And more isn't necessarily better. There are lots of shapes here, but our child likes the box better than sorting, while she loves to sort with the Plan sorter. I'd recommend the simpler, elegant Plan sorter over this one. And coupled with what I've seen of M&D products, I'm going to bypass them from now on and spend a few dollars more for toys that will last multiple children (and grandchildren).』
(melissa&doug are great, but this toy is lacking...) 『We have tons of Melissa&Doug toys and really are impressed with their overall durability, educational value, and price. However, this is one of the few pieces I would not buy again. The shapes are chunky, varied and colorful, but the design is flawed. It is very difficult for my daughter (received it at one year is now nearly two) to get the shapes in the holes because of the layout. She has other shape sorters that are much more child friendly. Overall this is not an enjoyable toy for her.』
(maybe not the best for sorting shapes) 『We were given this as a baby shower gift and I gave it to my daughter once she was able to sit upright on her own. She has been playing with it for several months. She is not yet at the stage where she is interested in sorting the shapes. She is a big fan of chewing on them and I've noticed the paint has come off on some of the edges. She also likes to put one into a plastic cup (from an Ikea staking cup toy) and shake it around, making noise. Once she started crawling, our little one discovered they quickly slide across the wood floor when she tosses them, and then she loves to retrieve them. I think she likes that the lid comes off easily, because that's the first thing she removes and chews on. Then she drops it on the floor, dumps all the blocks out, and chews on them. Not necessarily its intended purpose! Some of the blocks are smaller than I'd like and I sometimes fear she may choke on them, but I really don't think that is likely.
I suppose that if/when she starts to use it as a shape sorter, she will have to learn to put the shapes that fit into the bottom holes in there first; otherwise, if the bottom of the cube is lined with blocks, you cannot push the star, pentagon, and diamond in (well, maybe a very determined kid could forcefully shove them in and make it work!). I found that to be potentially frustrating myself because it somewhat takes away the fun of randomness out of inserting the blocks.
She (and I) have played with the Fisher Price shape sorter, the plastic one with 4 different shapes (3 pieces of each shape). That one allowed for less creativity because having only four shapes to sort instead of twelve different ones forces the child to learn that one shape fits one hole. If that's what you want, then the Melissa and Doug toy may not be for you, since more than one shape can fit through some of the holes.』
