『To the uninitiated, it looks like just an attractive piece of contemporary LED art. But to the clued-in, it's one clever clock. Once you crack the "code" of its display (dramatically revealed in the sentence), you'll see how easy and fun the TIX Clock is to read. You simply count the number of colored, LED-illuminated squares in each of the four fields on the brushed chrome faceplate! The fields correspond to the four numbers on a digital clock. So in the picture at left, the time is 12:36. Get it? And whoever coined the phrase "time stood still" wasn't referring to the TIX! While it does have a "static" mode, you can also set it to change which squares are illuminated in each field every second or minute, creating an ever-changing pattern that always indicates the correct time. Whether adorning a desktop or mounted on a wall, the TIX Clock gives time a new twist. Includes AC adapter. 10-1/4"x3"x1". WALT DISNEY VIDEO
Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (My Grandchildren love it.) 『My Grandchildren love this DVD. There are so many animals other than the usual ones kids know. My daughter says it is one of the best Baby Einstein DVD's out there.』
(Great for toddler) 『My 19 month old daughter just got into this DVD. I'd reccomend it if you're looking for a baby einstein DVD for a toddler. It's very relaxing for her and me!』
(My 2 year old Twins BOTH love it!!) 『For whatever reason my girls LOVE animals.. everyone known to man.. and this DVD is great.. We love the "peak a boo" feature and they can guess what the animal is behind the flap!! Great job again baby einstein!』
(Fun video for toddlers) 『My daughter loves this video. She is almost 2 and we've had the video for 2 months and she asks to watch it every day. She very quickly learned the names of all the animals, and she giggles at the puppets' antics. We also have Baby Neptune and Baby Galileo, and she loves those as well. She likes having me sit next to her to watch it with her, because then she can ask me what the animals are and what are they doing. It makes for relaxing downtime for both of us.』
(TV and videos are not good for babies under 2) 『The name "Baby Einstein" can lull you into thinking it's okay or even good for babies to watch t.v., but the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no television at all to children under 2 because so many studies have proven its harmful effects on children. Studies have shown that:
- for every hour of television a baby watches a day, their chances of acquiring an attention deficit disorder increases by 10%. - among babies ages 8 months to 16 months, every hour spent daily watching programs such as 'Brainy Baby' or 'Baby Einstein' translated into six to eight fewer words in their vocabularies as compared with other children their age." - brain wave activity in babies is slower when watching television than when sleeping.
I believe television should be used SPARINGLY and with caution, and without any delusions of it increasing baby's intelligence. As for making them more intelligent, Dr. William Sears says, "relationships, not things, make babies smarter." The easiest way to make babies smarter and calmer is to carry them a lot. Slings, pouches and carriers help make this more manageable. Studies have shown that:
- carrying babies an extra 3 hours a day resulted in 40% less crying.
Babies who are frequently carried are proven to pick up verbal skills faster, and develop better core muscle strength and balance. My Listmania list "Natural Parenting for Baby's First Year" has more information on babywearing, or you can google "babywearing" or "television and baby studies" for your own research.
Crown Crafts The Original NoJo BabySling by Dr. Sears - Black Chambray is a great starter sling.
Finally, I'd suggest "SIGNING TIME" videos - not to be confused with "Baby Signing Time" - as a last resort instead of other baby videos because at least baby can learn sign language. Sign language is proven to:
- reduce frustration and tantrums - accelerate language development - promote parent-child bonding
I found the entire series at my local library. I especially liked Signing Time! Volume 4: Family, Feelings&Fun DVD and 'naming' feelings also increases emotional intelligence in babies. 』 『The baby-to-toddler set gets an expedition through a variety of animal habitats across the planet in this installment of theBaby Einsteinseries. Despite the title, there is no real biblical connection to the material other than Noah's Ark toys and a few paintings (minus Noah and family). The subtitle "Animal Expedition" is far more accurate, as the 38-minute program takes the youngsters through the African savannah, rainforest, ocean, Australian Outback, and polar regions. As in its predecessors in the series, this one focuses on a few animals in each segment with repetition through toys, puppets and nature footage. Spoken words are minimal, but percussion and classical music (Beethhoven, Bizet, and Mozart, here) are maximized. Is just that E.L.O. has to many goods songs that they really need a double/triple album to make fans happy. Quality and performance is great. If you are a fan or not this is a must have album. I hope E.L.O. / Jeff Lynne release another dvd album with their greatest hits with more songs some day.』
(Thank God for Jeff!) 『Although this concert was filmed a while back, the content is timeless. You would think it was filmed yesterday if you didn't know better. I am very grateful that this DVD was filmed and that the sound quality is top notch. So many of the great older bands will never had a chance to a DVD of this quality. This performance is outstanding.
I really hope Jeff will someday receive the attention he deserves. A true master, like he is, is doesn't come along very often. On top of his masterful songs, he appears to be a very sincere guy, and someone who you'd really enjoy being around.
I really enjoyed this DVD and feel privileged to have watched a true musical genius in action. I grew up on ELO and always love rock music with cellos, violins, organs, etc. Tom Petty, Kansas, Supertramp, Boston, etc.
May God bless Jeff and thanks for making me feel good!』
(Amazing Show from an Amazing Band) 『My expectations for this DVD prior to seeing it but after ordering it from Amazon were mixed. E.L.O. is easily in the top 3 of my favorite musical acts just based on their studio albums alone, but how would they sound live? Not only that but how would they sound after it being so long (over 15 years) since they had disbanded?
The performance on this DVD blew away even my highest expectations. The only downside to it was that, as with any good thing, I wish it had lasted longer. As it is, it is a solid hour and a half of pure E.L.O in top form. The newer songs from the Zoom album fit in nicely with their older stuff. Nothing is out of place.
I have never seen another performance of E.L.O. live so I can't say how it stacks up against some of their other performances as far as song list and number and identity of individual performers go, but as I said, they do everything here nicely with what seems to be a minimum of artists(just under 10, I believe) considering the complexity of the music.
If you're a fan of great music and being entertained then you can't go wrong with this DVD. I only pray that they go on tour again so I can see them live in person. Hey, I can dream.』
(ELO's Zoom Tour Live On Blu-ray?) 『I have just watched the first 8 songs of this concert and I'm totally blown away with this concert! WOW! Jeff Lynne and his band sound fantastic! How in the world could ELO's Zoom concert tour have been cancelled due to lack of interest? This concert gave me chills. It sounds so good. It is presented in 16 X 9 format. Was this concert shot with high definition cameras? If so, I would love to get this title on Blu-ray disc. Maybe Image Entertainment can take note here. There's alot of ELO fans out here. Jeff Lynne, I'm 49 years old and a huge ELO fan since I was in high school in the 70's. Your music has given me much joy over the years. I love the way it sounds. Would love to see ELO get together again and would love to see this Zoom concert on Blu-ray! Thank you for all the great songs over the years! Your music is PURE MAGIC!』
(Zoooooom) 『This is an excellent DVD, the music is done perfect. Jeff lynne's voice is untouched by time. Judging from this tour-opening performance (in May 2001, at the CBS studios in Los Angeles), those canceled gigs were a major loss, because Jeff Lynne's revamped ELO is in top form, playing six new songs fromZoom(ELO's first release in 15 years) and 17 hits from the band's beloved legacy. Like the meticulous producer he is, guitarist-composer Lynne plays cordial frontman to an appreciative audience, and his re-creation of ELO's classical-rock sound is astonishing in its fidelity to the studio recordings. From the moment ELO's signature "space-ship" stage blossoms to reveal Lynne's eight-piece ensemble (including, of course, two cellists), there's not a weak song in the brisk 98-minute set.Zoom Tour Liveis ample compensation for those who bought useless tickets to an ill-fated show.--Jeff Shannon』 『Electric Light Orchestra took rock in a new direction, combining lush orchestrations with a pop sensibility, rapidly scoring 17 Top 40 hits. If your kid likes Thomas and you want them to learn about being responsible and patiences and enjoy hearing a story about treasure then i guess this would be the dvd for you! 』 『Thomas the Tank Engine and all his engine friends on the Island of Sodor consistently strive to be very useful engines, but sometimes their desire to do their best inspires a competitive spirit that gets them all into trouble. Thomas is scheduled for an important run transporting the Admiral to the opening of Sodor's Maritime Museum in "Thomas and the Treasure," but when Salty tells Thomas about the lost pirate treasure of Sodor, Thomas can't resist following the clues. Problem is, the other engines laugh at Thomas for believing the story and Thomas' treasure hunting causes him to miss his scheduled pick-up of the Admiral and become an unreliable engine in Sir Topham Hatt's eyes. "Duncan's Bluff," Skarloey the Brave," "Big Strong Henry," and "Seeing the Sights" all deal with rivalry between engines; focusing on various engines' efforts to prove themselves the bravest, fastest, or strongest and the bad things that happen when the engines compete with one another at the expense of working together. Thomas proves himself a very helpful engine when he repeatedly comes to the aid of a lazy new engine named Dennis in "Thomas' Day Off" while Dennis eventually learns an important lesson about the pitfalls of being selfish. IPhone 3G used's review (Night of the Grizzly) 『While the bear special effect definitely needed help it's a pretty fantastic movie for the whole family. Definitely one of those types of movies that you remember from your childhood and want desperately. It was definitely worth purchasing and my kids love it.』
(A Winner for Webelos!) 『Generally enjoyable and solid Western. Perhaps I would temper some of the high praise found in some posts below, especially bearing adult viewers in mind, but overall I liked it.
But the thought that kept running through my mind was that I would love to show it to a group of Cub Scouts, about Webelos' age (9-10). I don't mean that as any kind of putdown (my son is an Eagle Scout), I just felt that they would be the ideal audience for the film. Too much younger and it might scare them and cause nightmares; too much older and they'll start mocking the 'fakey bear'. By the way, speaking of special effects, I think it is almost impossible to portray a menacing animal convincingly in a movie (especially before computer-generated capabilities). Besides "Jaws", when has it ever been successfully done?
I did very much approve of the film's traditional values (another reason it would be great for Scouts to see). And even if I wouldn't consider it a prime example of the dramatic craft in its highest form, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for fathers to watch with their young sons, especially those drawn to the great outdoors.』
(Renaissance Alpha Man) 『This movie remains my all time favorite western classic. I work with teen boys, teaching and training them in the traits and habits needed th be successful men. I use this film to help drive home my message. Clint Walker, as Big Jim Cole, epitimizes the essence of manhood. He exhibits honor, courage, compassion, integrity, strength, fidelity, respect, self reliance, love and mercy. As a family man he is the spiritual leader of his household. His wife, Angie, respects and adores him. He is unabashed in his love for her. His children love and look up to him. As a man he has the strength of character and courage to face an assortment of deadly challenges bent on destroyng him and his family. He engages his enemies with determined resolve, steady nerves and manly strength.
His adversaries include, a huge grizzly (satan) who is bent on devouring his live stock and his family, a wealthy and greedy land owner who wants his land; it was once his and he wants it back, and Cass Dowdy, a large, seething, menacing and steely-eyed man who has been nursing a deadly grudge against Cole; he wants him ruined, destroyed, humiliated or dead.
Jim Cole's deadly trials would almost ruin him financially (He could lose his ranch) and his marriage (How much can a wife take?). His best friend is killed by the grizzly and the wealthy land owner (keenan Wynn) does all he can to hasten Jim's departure from his land.
Alas, when Big Jim's wife can no longer bear the possibility that either satan or the evil Cass will do her husband in, she in desparation, fear and frustration, issues an ultimatum: Either Jim quit his quest to kill the bear and quit the ranch or she will pack up the kids and leave him. This brief and rare confrontation with his wife is followed by what I think is the best quotation of manly resolve I have ever heard:
"Angie, there ain't a man alive that doesn't got trouble. How he handles that trouble is what counts. In every man's life there's a Cass or a Satan, one kind or another, trying to whip him, beat him down, destroy him. He can't run away from it. He's got to stand strong and fight! What ever it is he's got to fight! That's how God made a man." Angie will soon apologize for her temporary loss of faith and stand staunchly by her man. Jim ultimately prevails against Cass, Satan and the greedy land owner and is able keep his ranch.
I think that our children, boys and girls, need to be exposed to films like this one. Jim Cole represents all the qualities of authentic manhood missing in our current society of effeminized and weak men. I am 55 years old and I watch this film at least 3 times a year and have been doing so sice this film came out in VHS. It is , for me, highly inspirational. I am waiting for it to be reproduced on DVD. If you have children, particularly sons, this film is a must see, again and again and again.』
(Great Family Classic) 『I grew up watching this movie with my dad. On Friday nights he would ask what movie I wanted to watch and I would always say "The Night of the Grizzly". There are a few scary scenes with the Grizzly but nothing to graphic. It's a story of a hardworking family getting through the rough times. A great movie for the entire family to enjoy.』
(A family tames the West) 『This atypical "family Western" tells a story that was probably more common on the frontier than every cinematic shootout ever filmed. Former lawman Big Jim Cole (Clint Walker, best known as TV's "Cheyenne") inherits his grandfather's small ranch and brings his family to settle on it. His first 24 hours in town aren't promising: he learns that the ranch was originally won from a powerful neighbor, Jed Curry (Keenan Wynn), who still covets it for his sons, Tad and Cal (Ron Ely, Sammy Jackson); he has to use almost all his savings to pay off a loan against it; 12-year-old son Charlie (Kevin Brodie) gets into a brawl with some local boys; five-year-old daughter Gypsy (Victoria Paige Meyerink) gets "skunked"; longtime deputy and friend Sam Potts (Don Haggerty) gets cheated out of $10 by the young Currys and their buddy Duke Squires (Med Flory); and the ranch turns out to be a near-ruin. But Jim is determined: this is good land, he says; with their purebred bull Duncan, he and his wife Angie (Martha Hyer) will raise "some good cattle and maybe ten or twelve more kids." Then comes full spring and the awakening of the neighborhood nemesis, a huge grizzly bear known as Old Satan ("If that beast ain't Lucifer himself he's sure his first cousin," says banker Cotton Benson (Regis Toomey), an early friend of the Coles). Satan's first visit to the Cole ranch results in a dead bull, the panicked flight of Sam's beloved mule Becky, and the injury of the family dog Solomon. Jim and Sam go hunting and manage to hurt and intimidate the animal, but as fall arrives he returns and wreaks even more havoc, not only against them but at other places in the valley. Now the cattlemen put a bounty on the bear, which draws hunter Cass Dowdy (Leo Gordon), formerly a deputy of Jim's, who bears him an old grudge and yearns to see him "busted, flat broke, and beat."
Much of the charm of the movie is in the picture of a close-knit family making a home for itself in a new land, and in the well-drawn, well-acted characters, including Hank (Jack Elam), the town loafer, Wilhelmina "Bill" Peterson (Nancy Kulp of "The Beverly Hillbillies"), who keeps the general store, and Hazel Squires (Ellen Corby), Duke's tiny, feisty mother. It's true that the "bear" in several of the close-ups is obviously a man in a bear suit, but there are also some impressive shots of a genuine grizzly, as well as some gorgeous trans-Divide Wyoming scenery and a generous helping of humor. While there's little man-vs.-man shooting (I won't say none), three fistfights provide some action, and the steadily rising tension between Jim and Angie as the stress tests their marriage, the threat of losing the ranch, and the looming menace of Dowdy keep the suspense going. This would be an excellent movie for "family night" viewing; it's been one of my favorites for over three decades.』
IPhone 3G used's review (My Favorite Movie of all time) 『Yes this is my favorite movie and I hope they release it on DVD soon.. The story makes me cheer and cry so many times over. A horse with a heart of gold. A feel good movie of all times! Please release on DVD soon! ( And don't buy any boot-legged copies as a copy I bought on Ebay they showed the ending first leading into the movie! I was so upset )』
(Amazing Movie) 『This was a wonderful movie and a complete tear jerker!! No matter how many times I see it, it makes me cry!! This movie needs to be released to dvd format!! There are many people out there that feel the same way I do!! I would be one of the first in line to buy this!!!』
(Good but not the greatest) 『He was a great horse but let's be real. Statements that he'd beat Secretariat by a length are ridiculous. Yes, let's just ignore the fact that Phar Lap never once matched Secretariat's fastest times at 1.25, 1.5 or anything in between. Secretariat STILL retains some world records. No horse has ever even broken 2:25 in 1.5 on dirt and Secretariat did it a full second faster. At his fastest, no thoroughbred in history could defeat him.
Please.』
(MY FAVORITE MOVIE EVER!!!) 『At the snap of my fingers when asked what my favorite movie of all time is...It is Phar Lap. It has been many years since i have seen it. I think they show it on AMC or Turner classics every once in awhile. Reading the reviews here brings tears to my eyes thinking about the value the movie has played in my life. I was in my teens when I first saw it, and I still take every step with the lessons and meanings I learned from this movie.
Seabiscuit was a Lite version of Phar Lap. To me It seemd like an out right rip off. I feel the release of Seabiscuit pretty much doomed this movies DVD release in the States. But still, this is motion picture and a story telling creation at its very best. The quality of the movie runs neck and neck to the nonfiction reality of the myth that was created by the creature. The horse so powerful that even in re-creation can conjure spiritual guidance through ones own life. Not just a beast, but even after death a charismatic anthem to life itself. I pray for this horses soul. he is blessed.
If they made this product available, this is one I would personally buy at least 50 copies of and give out as gifts to those I cared about the most.』
(Best Movie I have ever seen!!!!) 『This is the best movie I have ever seen. It is one that you love to see over and over. You never get tired of it and your heart is always deeply involved!』

(Entertaining family movie!) 『Though this movie is several years old, I recently purchased The Preacher's Wife for my family. I find holiday movies woefully lack an African American perspective and I wanted to purchase as item that I could watch with my children that depict people that look like us. My children enjoyed it very much. Whitney Houston is not the best actress in the world; however, that didn't impact our overall enjoyment of the movie.』
(Warm and Fuzzy) 『Warm, fuzzy, and before Whitney changed for the worst. You really can't go wrong with this.』
(Best Christmas Movie) 『This is and has been my favorite Christmas movie since it came out. I absolutely love it--- brings joy to the season and reminds you of the real reason.』 『This tedious remake of the classic Christmas movieThe Bishop's Wifefalls on its face by significantly altering the careful design of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Robert E. Sherwood's story for the original film. In Sherwood's version, a rather wooden, inept bishop and his lonely wife unknowingly take into their lives a heaven-sent angel who aids the former and ends up falling in love with the latter. In this unnecessary update, an inner-city preacher (Courtney B. Vance) and his estranged spouse (Whitney Houston) are visited by a celestial goof (Denzel Washington), whose unsolicited offer of help is enough to galvanize Vance's character to fix his own problems. What that means is this: by the second act, there's no reason to have Washington's angel in the story. Even his infatuation with the missus isn't enough to warrant his hanging around this movie; the change is a colossal blunder by director Penny Marshall. Vance ends up stealing the film from Washington, but it's a Pyrrhic victory; for the most part this movie just seems like a series of random scenes between opportunities for Houston to belt out songs.--Tom Keogh』 『Starring Academy Award(R)-winner Denzel Washington (Best Actor, TRAINING DAY, 2001) and multi-talented Whitney Houston (WAITING TO EXHALE), here's a delightful romantic comedy to send spirits soaring! Washington plays a charming angel named Dudley who's sent to earth to help a young minister (Courtney B. Vance -- DANGEROUS MINDS) and his beautiful wife (Houston) revive their marriage! But things take a hilarious twist when Dudley accidentally falls in love with the preacher's wife. From director Penny Marshall (A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN) and featuring screen favorite Gregory Hines (RENAISSANCE MAN), this critically acclaimed comedy hit also showcases nine dynamic songs by Grammy Award-winner Houston, including the Top 10 hit "I Believe In You And Me."』

The lower the level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera'sresolutionshould be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. TheS/N, orsignal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a widedynamic rangeis ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present.CCD (charge-coupled device) sensorsprovide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise.CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensorsoffer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.』
