Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Faithful to the performance) 『This Blu-ray edition of Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock is basically the same version we got on the regular DVD. The big difference here is the picture, which is really nice all things considered. After all this was almost 40 years ago, and Jimi hit the stage early monday morning after most of the audience had gone home, and the film crew were obviously at the end of their rope. There are moments of brilliance interspersed with chaos; both musically, and for the film crew. Fortunately these moments usually happen together. The audio mix on this disc sounded more faithful to the performance. I'm able to hear Larry Lee's guitar work, which was a pleasant surprise. The picture quality allowed for a few discoveries. At the end of Red House you can see Jimi had broken a guitar string. I've seen this performance many times before but had never caught that. This new line-up was a departure for Hendrix. He expanded his sound with more instruments to explore new musical landscapes. He was also under a lot of pressure from his manager not to change the successful formula of The Experience, so this was a bold move by Jimi, and when it worked it was amazing. The historic significance of this performance is obvious, and my only complaint is the picture was not formated for 16.9 T.V.'s. Other than that, I would highly recommend this blu-ray edition of Jimi Hendrix Live at Woodstock.』

Twenty minutes or so later came the live action parts and that was a little better for her. Still the only part that she liked was when the Tubbycustard machine started making bubbles.
I think that there are probably better DVDs out there to get instead of this one.

(Baby loves it) 『As long as my baby enjoys it then that's all that matters. Personally I don't care for it.』
(Pretty Good) 『This is not mine nor my kids favorite Teletubbies movie. It is cute and they will watch it but my son will ask for one of the others over it everytime.』
(A good one) 『This is one of about 6 Teletubbies DVDs we own and is one of the best. The scenes with the Tubbies are more interesting than some of the ones in our other videos, and include a scene with Dipsy watching what's going on in Tubbyland, a scene with Tubby custard bubbles, and more. The scenes with the kids are also good, and there is a special feature that my 20 mo. old son also likes, where the Tubbies play on a seesaw. This DVD, along with "All Together Teletubbies" and "Look" are my son's favorites. He also likes "Favorite Things" but I think that's only available on VHS.』
(Lots of Fun!) 『My 19 month old LOVES the Teletubbies. This video is tons of fun.』 『It's Springtime in Teletubbyland! Po finds bluebells and soon they are blossoming everywhere! Uh oh, the Tubby Custard machine makes Tubby Custard bubbles! Oooh!, Dipsy plays a watching game! It's a day to play and discover.』

Any fan of psychedelic/classic rock owes it to themselves to watch this over and over again. Janis Joplin performs the greatest rendition of "Cry Baby" EVER and it was filmed only 3 short months before her untimely and tragic death. There is a great sampling of music represented here, amazing footage of jam sessions (drunk ones!) and amazing crowd shots showing fabulous 70s fashion. I want to live in this freaking movie. Get stoned and watch it. xoxo.』
(Cool documentary!) 『This was a really fun ride and brought back a lot of nostalgia! Think of it as a booze-fueled Woodstock on a train!』
(Festival Express) 『I greatly enjoyed the ability to board that long departed train...and to view the artists having the time of their lives. The jams, both on the train and onstage were outstanding. Priceless!』
(A Singularly Unique Rock n'Roll Experience) 『I live in Winnipeg and unfortunately missed FESTIVAL EXPRESS when it rolled through back in 1970. I opted instead to go to Winnipeg's other huge ticket that summer - Manpop - which featured Led Zeppelin, Iron Butterfly and the Youngbloods as headliners. I've always remembered Festival Express as a golden opportunity missed - but being only sixteen years old with limited funds - I was forced to live with the consequences of a tough choice.
Seeing the film "Festival Express" isn't quite like being there in person, but it's the next best thing! For young folks who weren't even born in 1970, it's a chance to see Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, the Band, the Fly Burrito Bros, Buddy Guy, Ian&Sylvia, et al... in their prime and find out what the buzz was all about. Janis and Jerry Garcia are in particularly great voice. Janis gives a gut wrenchingly poignant performance, particularly during "Cry Baby". I'm not sure what brought the tears to my eyes, her greatness or the knowledge that she would leave us just a few short months after that performance (followed later by the tragic death's of the Dead's drummer "Pigpen"&guitarist/singer Jerry Garcia and the Band's piano player Richard Manuel&bassist Rick Danko)
The concert footage of Janis and the Dead alone justify the film's admission price. My biggest gripe was that there should have been far more concert footage included. However, a local newspaper writeup mentioned that much of the concert footage was non-usable (bad sound, out of focus cameras, sound/no pix, pix/no sound....). It was so bad apparently - the fact that anything remotely resembling a cohesive film was wrought from the mounds of botched footage was nothing short of minor miracle! Don't get me wrong - the behind the scenes footage of the band partying and jamming stand on their own merit. Jerry Garcia pops up jamming on stage and off with everyone from Ian&Sylvia and the Great Speckled Bird (on stage in Calgary) to the Band's Rick Danko (on the train along with Janis - quite schwacked - hilarious!) Shots of protesters bitching about "the pigs" and high admissions prices (Fourteen dollars - how outrageous!)are also good for a chuckle and help capture the flavour of the period.
"Festival Express'" split screen camera techniques, the documentary style narrative and band lineups are bound to invite comparisons to the movie "Woodstock." I believe the camera techniques and documentary style are intended to help recapture the time period and mood rather than to ripoff "Woodstock." Further, neither Janis', the Dead's nor the Band's Woodstock performances made it into the original "Woodstock" movie. The experience of trucking a load of monstrously talented - notoriously hard partying rock n'rollers across Canada in a train with a well stocked bar, guitar amps, and a drum kit while the cameras rolled is singularly unique in the annals of rock n'roll - so is this film! Check it out!!

(Don't Pass This One Up!) 『If you're 50ish and a fan of classic rock-and-roll, this DVD is a sure bet. It's grainy but sharp and the sound is top notch. Great concert camera work and beautiful color for a 1970 road show. The scenes on the train provide some very insightful looks of what band life on the road was like back then.
I just played it on my 20" computer monitor with stereo sound and it has overwhelmed me. I have no doubts it will play beautifully on my 70" home theater and the DTS 5.1 surround sound will be heavenly. If you are Canadian, like me, it's an added bonus to see some shots of Toronto, Winnipeg and Calgary in the background.
Janis Joplin is in true form and sings some of her best. It's one of the main reasons I bought this and I'm not disappointed.
Don't cheat yourself out of a memorable DVD....you'll be playing this one more than once!』 『Studio: New Line Home Video Release Date: 09/27/2005 Run time: 89 minutes』 『The vintage concert footage alone makesFestival Expressa memorable and worthwhile endeavor, offering scintillating performances by Janis Joplin, the Band (their rollicking version of "Slippin' and Slidin'" is particularly mind-blowing), the Grateful Dead, Buddy Guy, and others (remember Mashmakhan?). In 1970, during the heyday of the rock festival, promoter Ken Walker decided to organize a traveling musical revue, bringing the mountain to Mohammed, as it were. In five days' time, the festival played in three Canadian cities with the entire conglomeration traveling, playing, and getting smashed together the whole way. Nearly as rewarding as the live performances are the candid scenes of the train ride itself, an endless jam session and party during which musicians of all shapes and sizes let their hair down--musically and otherwise. The contemporary interviews with Walker and some of the surviving musicians aren't particularly noteworthy, except as a way to prove that it all actually happened. Walker comes off as a hero in the film: he treated the musicians like royalty and insisted that the train roll on even though he was losing his shirt. (His financial failure is a large reason why this material stayed in the vaults for so long.) Perhaps the most remarkable scene is an off-the-cuff, LSD-fueled train jam featuring Joplin, the Band's Rick Danko, and the Dead's Jerry Garcia playing the old chestnut "Ain't No More Cane." Danko is so obliterated that even Janis has to ask him if he's OK--when Janis is worried aboutyourstate of mind, you must be pretty messed up.--Marc Greilsamer』

(Is 2005 Anniversary edition better than the 1999 DVD?) 『I have compared the 2005 50th Anniversary Edition DVD to the 1999 digitally mastered DVD for both video and audio. Visually, the Cinemascope version (Disc 1 of 2) of the 2005 DVD yields the best picture (on wide zoom). Sonically, however, the 1999 DVD sounds better than the 2005 DVD as well as the 2001 remastered audio CD. The sound of the '99 DVD, which had been given THX sound processing, is much more open, bright, and dynamic with clear highs. The sound of the '05 DVD, which really doesn't sound too bad, comes across very slightly muffled, as if it had a layer of gauze placed over it, unfortunately deadening the highs and restricting the openness. So if it's the best picture you're looking for, get the 50th Anniversary DVD. If you want the best sound, get the '99 DVD.』
(Oklahoma) 『The dvd is 3 hours of great music. Truly a classic movie. Worth the cost to have so it can be played many times.』
(Oklahoma) 『My ALL TIME FAVORITE and a MUST see for any "musical" enthusiast. Good story and video and the best music around. Fun for the entire family.』 『The hit Broadway musical from the 1940s gets a lavish if not always exciting workout in this 1955 film version directed by old lion Fred Zinnemann (High Noon). Gordon MacRae brings his sterling voice to the role of cowboy Curly, and Shirley Jones plays Laurie, the object of his affection. The Rodgers and Hammerstein score includes "The Surrey with the Fringe on Top," "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'," and "People Will Say We're in Love," and Agnes DeMille provides the buoyant choreography. Among the supporting cast, Gloria Grahame is memorable as Ado Annie, the "girl who cain't say no," and Rod Steiger overdoes it as the villainous Jud.--Tom Keogh』
IPhone 3G used's review (Love the Dancing) 『If you like old movies, this is a good one. The story is not that great but the dancing&singing are very good. You realize what a good singer Howard Keel is&I didn't even know Jane Wyatt cold sing, and she is very good.』
(Haven't They Heard of Restoration???) 『Although the original film, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" was a marvelous blending of music, dance and the old pioneer days, this DVD transfer is a disaster. With today's technology, you would think that someone might have struck an anamorphic edition that would expand beyond the realm of 4x3 TV. The color was washed out, there was no dynamics in the sound, and the print looked almost as if no one bothered to look at the negative before it was transferred. I could feel the dirt falling off of the disc. (My old laserdisc edition looked better than this copy). In short, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers"is a great musical that deserves a restoration before the transfer. BTW, wonderful performance by young Russ Tamblyn (of West Side Story fame).』
(Seven Brides, Seven Brothers, deserves Seven Stars) 『This is a family favorite. Everyone of every age loves it. You should see my 4 year old niece Molly sing, "Bless your beautiful hide" HILARIOUS! 』
(Wonderful) 『I grew up watching this movie, and when my vhs tape finally became unplayable, I was upset. Finding it on dvd with all the extras and at such a great price, I couldn't turn away. Great movie that everyone should watch!』
(Great musical! Glad to have the disks) 『I've worn out two copies of the VHS and was so thrilled to find the DVD.』 『Well, bless my beautiful hide! Director Stanley Donen invests this rollicking musical with a hearty exuberance. Howard Keel, with his big-as-all-outdoors baritone, stars as a bold "mountain man" living in the Oregon woods who brings home a bride (plucky songbird soprano Jane Powell) to his six slovenly brothers. Taming the rambunctious brood, Jane proceeds to make gentlemen of them so they can woo sweethearts of their own. But old habits die hard: their flirting gives way to fighting in the film's celebrated barn-raising scene, a lively acrobatic dance number exuberantly choreographed by Michael Kidd. Big brother chimes in with his own brand of advice--an old-fashioned kidnapping! Donen manages to get away with such a politically incorrect plot by investing the boys with a innocent sweetness, most notably the youngest brother played with genial earnestness by Rusty (Russ) Tamblyn (pre-West Side Story). This modest production became a huge hit and remains one of MGM's best-loved musical comedies, an energetic, high-kicking classic.--Sean Axmaker』
IPhone 3G used's review (Classic Films, But Slightly Disappointing Extras.) 『I'll try to make this short, as this site doesn't allow more than 300 words on the reviews.
INDIANA JONES AND THE RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK
This film is the classic and quintessential "Indiana Jones" film. Great storyline, top-notch acting, rousing music (especially the famous "Raiders March"), hair-raising action sequences and superb directing. Rated PG for action violence and mild language.
INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM
The second (though chronologically the first) movie in the series is the darkest in the franchise. Good storyline, excellent acting, rousing music terrific drecting and some ideas originally conceived for "Raiders." Interesting sidenote: Kate Capshaw and Steven Spielberg married soon after this movie wrapped. Rated PG for some intense action violence.
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE
This third movie in the successful franchise is the lightest. The cast includes Bond villain Julian Glover, Bond girl Alison Doody, "Stand By Me" 's River Phoenix (as a young Indiana Jones in a prologue) and the original James Bond Sean Connery. Packed with action and comedy, this movie is one of the best. Rated PG for action violence and some language (in my opinion; the movie was unfairly smacked with a PG-13 rating).
The extras are slightly disappointing. The production featurettes and documentaries are terrific, though shockingly brief. However, there are no deleted scenes. What a letdown. It would've been nice to see what was deleted from the film and to hear why the scenes were cut.』
(Indiana Jones) 『I love Indiana Jones and now that I have the whole set--except of course for the newest movie--I am just loving it. It is very entertaining--a great way to spend a Sunday.』
(Bring the Adventure Home) 『Lucasfilm took their sweet time putting out the original Indiana Jones trilogy on DVD. In fact, it wasn't until the Indy 4 rumors stopped looking so much as rumors and started to become a reality that the company released the Indiana Jones films for the first time on DVD in this rustic-looking box set. With the advent of INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, the movies have since been re-released on DVD (and slightly altered as well). Many people won't mind those changes, but I enjoy watching the films the way I originally saw them in the theatres.
This DVD set includes the first three Indiana Jones movies (RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM, and INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE) as well as an extra Bonus Material DVD that is full of extra features. The set is worth buying for the three movies alone (now that the films have been re-released and are about to be re-re-released you can get this whole set cheaper). However, the extra special features DVD is a very nice addition. The Bonus Material DVD includes several documentaries and featurettes including "The Light and Magic of Indiana Jones", "The Sound of Indiana Jones", "The Stunts of Indiana Jones", "The Music of Indiana Jones", "Indiana Jones: Making the Trilogy", the trailers for all three films, and some bonus DVD-ROM content. I especially enjoyed the "Indiana Jones: Making the Trilogy" documentary. It's very informative and actually feels like watching a documentary film.
As already mentioned, you can purchase all of the Indiana Jones movies separately now and even get a new boxed set with all four Indiana Jones movies. However, this is the DVD set that is the best set to own. Well, at least until Lucasfilm re-re-re-releases the movies in another few years in the Ultimate Indiana Jones DVD Box Set.』
(Pulp Adventure at Its Best) 『In 1981, Steven Spielberg (Jaws) and George Lucas (Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope ) reinvented the pulp adventure genre that they had fallen in love with during their youth. Their film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, was the perfect tribute to Saturday matinee serials and boys' adventure magazines. Not only did Spielberg and Lucas create the greatest action film in decades (and perhaps in the history of American movies), but they also introduced movie audiences to the greatest adventure hero since the days of Allan Quatermain, Tarzan, and Doc Savage. Harrison Ford, who lent his devil-may-care attitude to the globetrotting archaeologist, embodied Indiana Jones as no other actor could. Raiders of the Lost Ark became more than a blockbuster; it was the birth of an American icon and the first chapter in one of the greatest film franchises ever.
Raiders of the Lost Ark - 1981 Adventurer and archaeologist, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) searches for the fabled Lost Ark of the Covenant while being pursued by insidious Nazis and their vile henchmen. Along the way he reunites with his former lover, the feisty Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) and confronts charming, treasure-hunting rival, Belloq (Paul Freeman). Indiana also encounters tarantulas, poisonous serpents, a deadly Arab swordsman, and a host of other perils and pitfalls, all of which he overcomes with a sly grin. But can even this daring heroic figure survive the lure and the power of the legendary Lost Ark?
After the huge success, both commercial and critical, of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas set out to tell a second fantastic Indiana Jones story. However, this time they decided to use darker thematic material and in so doing caused some controversy. When Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was released in 1984, it became immediately apparent that the film was darker and, in all likelihood, too violent and intense for children. The film utilized elements of pulp adventure stories, as had Raiders of the Lost Ark, but there was a greater emphasis on violence and horror. Many critics accused the film of being too extreme and even disturbing, and said that it lacked the spirit of fun that made the first film so accessible. Despite the negative reviews, no one could deny the film's commercial appeal or its originality.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - 1984 After narrowly escaping from Asian gangsters, Indiana Jones, his young sidekick Short Round (Ke Huy Quan), and ditzy American singer Wilhelmina "Willie" Scott (Kate Capshaw) find themselves stranded in a small village in India. They soon take notice that there are no children in the village and they are told that the children were taken by a cult that worships the Goddess of Death, Kali. Indiana Jones finds connections between the story of the missing children and old legends of sacred stones that hold great power. He, Short Round, and Willie Scott go to Pankot Palace, where they discover that the cult has taken over the palace using a supernatural method of brainwashing, voodoo practices, ritualistic human sacrifice, and worse... they've enslaved the villagers' children. Can Indiana Jones find the sacred stones, stop the cult, and return the stolen children to their parents?
In 1989, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas released their third Indiana Jones film. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was a more light-hearted adventure with the welcome addition of Sean Connery as Indiana's father, Prof. Henry Jones. The film relied heavily on action and comedy, and was at times overly formulaic and reminiscent of the first Indiana Jones film. Despite some flaws in the script, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade became another mega-hit and provided the characters with a wonderful finale (which has since been rendered moot by the decision to make more Indy films) where they actually ride off into the sunset.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - 1989 After his father, Prof. Henry Jones (Sean Connery), goes missing during his search for the Holy Grail, Indiana Jones teams up with Elsa (Alison Doody), an Austrian researcher to find him. When Indiana Jones rescues Prof. Jones from the Nazis, he discovers that Elsa is a traitor and that the Nazis are close to uncovering the resting place of the Holy Grail, which has the power to give whoever drinks from it immortality. Can Indiana Jones and his father beat the Nazis in this epic race between good and evil?
These three films form one of the most successful trilogies of all time, and it's no wonder that Indiana Jones is still in the public eye after all of these years. The three films feature an extraordinary cast including Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Paul Freeman, John Rhys-Davies, Denholm Elliott, Kate Capshaw, Ke Huy Quan, Amrish Puri, Sean Connery, Alison Doody, Julian Glover, and River Phoenix. Besides the wonderful cast, one of the main reasons for the longevity of the Indiana Jones series are the action set pieces, which include some of the most memorable stunts ever captured on film. Who can forget the first time that they saw Indy skillfully swing across a chasm using his trusty bullwhip, or outrunning a giant boulder, or survive being in a room full of lethally venomous asps, or being chased by cult members in a mine cart, or cutting a bridge in half while he's still on it, or chasing an armored tank while on horseback? As you can see there's no limit to his adventures. Since his debut, Indiana Jones has been emulated and imitated, but never duplicated. The quality of the writing, the direction, the acting, the production design, and the stunt work are unmatched by any other films within the genre. The series is also given an emotional resonance with the help of John William's brilliant theme music and scores. Though the series, much like Indiana Jones himself, has seen its share of ups and downs, it will undoubtedly go down in cinematic history as the greatest adventure films ever made.
The Adventures of Indiana Jones- The Complete DVD Movie Collection contains Indy's first three classic films, which have been gloriously restored and remastered for maximum video and audio quality. Also included in this excellent 4-disc set are the following bonus materials: the comprehensive three-part documentary Making the Trilogy, The Stunts of Indiana Jones featurette, The Sound of Indiana Jones featurette, The Music of Indiana Jones featurette, The Light and magic of Indiana Jones featurette, theatrical trailers for all three films, and access to exclusive online features.
I think it's safe to say that the man in the hat will be around for many more years to come.

(indie fan) 『Love the feel of these movies. Make you feel as if you are watching old time serial movies. Harrison Ford play the part well. I like the fact that he is not perfect.』 『As withStar Wars, the George Lucas-producedIndiana Jonestrilogy was not just a plaything for kids but an act of nostalgic affection toward a lost phenomenon: the cliffhanging movie serials of the past. Episodic in structure and with fate hanging in the balance about every 10 minutes, theJonesfeatures tapped into Lucas's extremely profitableStar Warsformula of modernizing the look and feel of an old, but popular, story model. Steven Spielberg directed all three films, which are set in the late 1930s and early '40s: the comic book-likeRaiders of the Lost Ark, the spooky,Gunga Din-inspiredIndiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and the cautious but entertainingIndiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Fans and critics disagree over the order of preference, some even finding the middle movie nearly repugnant in its violence. (Pro-Temple of Doompeople, on the other hand, believe that film to be the most disarmingly creative and emotionally effective of the trio.) One thing's for sure: Harrison Ford's swaggering, two-fisted, self-effacing performance worked like a charm, and the art of cracking bullwhips was probably never quite the iconic activity it soon became afterRaiders. Supporting players and costars were very much a part of the series, too--Karen Allen, Sean Connery (as Indy's dad), Kate Capshaw, Ke Huy Quan, Amrish Puri, Denholm Elliot, River Phoenix, and John Rhys-Davies among them. Years have passed since the last film (another is supposedly in the works), but emerging film buffs can have the same fun their predecessors did picking out numerous references to Hollywood classics and B-movies of the past.--Tom Keogh』 『Set Includes: Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Indiana Jones and the Treasure of the Peacock's Eye』
