I got a different scratching post, also made of sisal but with a carpet base, put it right next to this one and he did use the new post. I ended up throwing this one away after a few months. I noticed that the rope was fraying a lot, despite him rarely using it. The base is too small and it tips over very easily, scaring the cat.』
(Purr-Fect) 『I am preparing to order my second cone post for Laci. She is an 8 lb. cat and has used her current one for 5 years and the threads are just now separating, at the top. So I think it's time for a new one.
I have read the reviews here. This cone has never tipped over and is just the right fit for Laci. She seems to love it and uses it often. A large cat might need a higher and more sturdy one. Of all the posts I have purchased for Her Highness, this is the only type she has ever used. I went through many other types of material, but nooo.
Good luck,
Laci's mom*』
(Best one if you know secret) 『I understand the poor reviews because of a tipping over problem. However, this one works best for my cat because it is wider at the bottom. I solved the tipping over problem by placing a 4.4 lb plastic weight that goes on a barbell inside of the bottom opening. My cat weighs 15 lbs and it works great. I'm sure not everyone will have a set of weights to use but could substitute something else.』
(Good enough) 『This works well for my cat. He is still a kitten, so time will tell how it will hold up to a 20 lb. mature cat! It is not as sturdy as the other one I have, but it does the job. It is better if you put it on carpet or a rug, because it can slide on bare floors. He likes to scratch the sisal part, but does not scratch the carpeted area of the post. All in all....it's ok!』
(Not for large cats) 『I purchased the product as a replacement for an aging but well used sisal rope cone. My cat made a beeline for the post, but was quickly frustrated because the cone kept tipping over. The move from heavy cone to light plastic base was a big mistake by the manufacturer, and the resulting product has less value. I am planning to returnn the product to Amazon.com. This product is not suitable for 8lb. cats or larger.』 『Bone Sisal Rope Cat Post Provides Premium Surface Area For Claw&Paw Maintenance.』

Usually ships in 1 to 2 days IPhone 3G used's review (Excellent) 『Excellent. I lived it. I was there. And this is what it was like. I'm so glad there is finally a serious documentary about thrash--it was serious music.』
(The best music documentary PERIOD) 『If you like thrash, you must get this. A complete history of thrash through the eyes of those who were, and in most cases still are there. From the dark days of the small clubs to the large scale stadium tours its all covered through interviews with so many bands its imposable to list them all. A must have for old an new fans of the greatest kind of music the world has ever heard.』
(Old School at it's Finest) 『History seems to be repeating itself, and thrash is making a foothold again in the mainstream of metal, this DVD shows how the soul of thrash never did die out, it just went underground... bands like Overkill and Metallica, Exodus, and Testament never went away, and thier new releases are selling great... bring it on, bring it all on... if you are a fan of early, or current Thrash, this is the video for you...
This is a great video view into the beginings of Thrash, on the west, and east coasts... Interviews with Thrash legends like Overkill, Slayer, Death Angel, Exodus, Anthrax, Testament, and new thrash acts like Municpal Waste, ans Evile bring the Thrash right to your face, so close up, and personal, you can almost SMELL the stale beer, and sweat...
Begining with the west coast, bands like Metallica, Slayer and Exodus, the video delves into the roots of Thrash, and how the hair bands, and the punks had shunned the early Thrash bands, forcing Metallica to move north to the Bay Area, joining the Bay masters, Exodus, in creating the mighty metal scene there... Slayer stayed in LA, bludgeoning the "posers" into submission... when Metallica flew to New York, eventually sending Dave Mustaine packing, and bringing in Exodus guitarist Kirk Hammet, New York bands like Anthrax, and New Jersey's Overkill welcomed them into a huge scene of thier making...
This vid is fantatic if you are a fan of Thrash, or even just the New York metal scene back then, as the bonus features delve into the crossover bands, and New York hardcore...
Overall if you are fan of any metal, this vid will show you how it was done BEFORE the internet, and BEFORE the labels took over every aspect of music, when metal was ugly, pure, and real... it is a must see...』
(Excelent!!) 『Get thrashed is a must have for anyone who is into the thrash metal genre. A comprehensive look into the history of thrash metal including all the major pioneers, Mettallica,Megadeath, Anthrax, Overkill, and Exodus. There are also A lot of bands that were big for a couple of years and then dissappeared from the scene. When I watched this film it brought back a flood of memories from my high school days in the early 80's when A lot of these bands were just making it to the big time. The special features on this DVD cover thrash metal worldwide, well worth watching. 』
(Good but not the whole story...) 『Great story of the thrash metal movement of the 80s but sadly bands like HALLOWS EVE who certainly were there the whole time are left out without even a mention. These metal pioneers were probably the first metal band ever to come from the south...even before DEATH and the Florida death-metal movement. Good documentary but too bad some bands have been ignored.』 『Studio: Uni Dist Corp (music) Release Date: 09/16/2008 Rating: Nr』

(Megastar Vs The Complex) 『Both concert DVD's are a lot of fun, and the music is great. I have to give the Megastar DVD the nod as the best of the two DVD's. Watching the concert in HD is such an improvement. The light show is far superior, the music tighter and more refined. Sound is slightly better. Their new female vocalist Adrian Hartley projects her outstanding voice better than the Complexes guest vocalists. Megastar also has a Ace of a cut playing Pink Floyd's One Of These Days. It is one awesome over the top rocker that might make you say, Blue Floyd Rocks, Pink who? Last comment, HD TV is like looking out a clean window, while the old tv is like looking out a very dirty window. If you can afford one buy it. Blue Man Group Rocks! Megastar 5 Stars The Complex 4 Stars.』
(a fantastic concert!) 『Blue Man Group is a strange experience, I suppose. It's as much theater as rock band, but then what great band isn't as much theater as rock?
This DVD shows a concert tour the group did, rather than a Las Vegas show. So, it's a performance from band to audience, and not so much a comedy and audience involvement show as they would do in Sin City or elsewhere. As such, it's a lot of fun to watch and listen to, and is not likely to grow old with repeated watching.
I'm not going to dwell on each song or particular aspects of the show, other than to say that their performance of Baba O'Reilly is one of the best rock performances recorded, ever, by anyone. That cut alone is worth the price of the DVD. It will astonish you that they can pull it off live.It will rock you from head to toe. I would have bought just that song on a DVD and been perfectly satisfied. It's that good.
And the rest of the DVD is almost as fine. Five stars, without hesitation.』
(Good but not great) 『First time seeing the group and was interesting. Saw clips of video at c. city and felt compelled to buy it. Some interesting and good songs, but not all of them. Same as entertainment value, some was good, some was ok. Nothing bad, nothing over the top.』

(Fabulous) 『If you have a Blu-ray player and enjoy Jazz this is a must have. Each performance is great. The styles of Jazz vary from performer to performer. I like a variety of music so this was not a problem for me. It shouldn't for most either, since, after all, the performers are "Jazz Legends". The most benefit from this disc will be to those who have their Blu-ray hooked up to an audio system and especially if you can take advantage of the Dolby Tru-HD sound track here. There is also a two channel uncompressed sound track. I haven't been one to embrace multi-channel music but this disc is an excellent example of how surround sound music can be done right and with Tru-HD listening becomes quite an experience. The mix is done as if you are in the audience. The instruments are in front of you with just enough to surround speakers to give ambience to the music. The video, of course, being in high definition, is stunning as well. Legends of Jazz on Blu-ray is a real audio video treat and the price is no more than a typical CD. IPhone 3G used's review (Too childish for my tastes but it has it's moments) 『The Grinch was a great film if you're eight. But for everyone else it's okay. Granted, the sets were amazing, it has heart and Jim Carrey is brillaint but the film wasn't as funny I thought it could've been. The film is good family entertainment though.』
(Happy Christmas) 『I never tire of Jim Carrey. This is both a sad and happy Christmas film.』
(He's a mean one.) 『One of Jim Carrey's most unusual roles, but any Dr Suess fan will love this. Even Carrey's version of the unforgettable song is fabulous.』
(carey makes it a sinch as the grinch) 『jim carey does an oscar performance as the grinch. not will it only bring laughter but tears to the eyes. this is one movie you can watch anytime of the year.』
(Exciting and Funny!!! by Jodi) 『I have seen the animated version and now real life and it is hilarious! It also is kind of different. it also tells how the Grinch was born. Cindy Lou also tries to convince the Grinch to come down to Who village to show everyone that he is not green and mean. The Grinch also has a crush on a hot girl since he was at school but she was in love with the mayor. The Grinch wants his revenge on the mayor for the Grinch shaving himself and got everybody to laugh. That is why I like this movie.』 『Under a thick carpet of green-dyed yak fur and wonderfully expressive Rick Baker makeup, Jim Carrey is up to all of his old tricks (and some nifty new ones) in this live-action movie of Dr. Seuss's holiday classic. He commands the title role with equal parts madness, mayhem, pathos, and improvisational genius, channeling Grinchness through his own screen persona so smoothly that fans of both Carrey and Dr. Seuss will be thoroughly satisfied. Adding to the fun is a perfectly pitched back-story sequence (accompanied by Anthony Hopkins's narration) that explains how the Grinch came to hate Christmas, with a heart "two sizes too small." Ron Howard proves a fine choice for the director's chair with a keen balance of comedy, sentiment, and light-hearted Seussian whimsy. Production designer Michael Corenblith gloriously realizes the wackiness of Whoville architecture, and his rendition of the Grinch's Mt. Crumpit lair is a marvel of cartoonish, subterranean grime. Then there's Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen), the thoughtful imp who rallies her village to recapture the pure spirit of Christmas and melts the gift-stealing Grinch's cold, cold heart. You've even got a dog (the Grinch's good-natured mongrel, Max) who's been perfectly cast, so what's not to like about this dazzling yuletide movie? The production gets a bit overwhelmed by its own ambition, and the citizens of Whoville (including Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Molly Shannon, and Bill Irwin) pale in comparison to Carrey's inspired lunacy, but who cares? If a movie can unleash Jim Carrey at his finest, revamp the Grinch story, and still pay tribute to the legacy of Dr. Seuss, you can bet it qualifies as rousing entertainment. IPhone 3G used's review (Inherit the wind) 『The movie is just a small sample that proves Bible is a bunch of baloney
Ivan- Brazil』
(Which side on you on? The Bible or the Periodic Table?) 『This 1999 TV reproduction is not as funny as the 1960 movie version with the same title, but it is still very good. The content is almost identical to the earlier movie version, but the actors are less funny. The whole thing is based on the 1925 Monkey Trial in Tennessee where a high-school teacher called Scope was arrested for having once taught evolution in class. The ensuing trial attracted international attention. Though Scope was convicted and fined $100, the fundamentalist Christians who interpret the Bible literally are depicted as clowns in the movie.』
(WHY still not on DVD? Great movie!) 『Jack Lemmon and George C. Scott steal the movie!. It is a real pity we don't have the wonderful Jack Lemmon still around with us to bring us fine pieces of work like this. We'll miss you, Jack. :(
What I find a real shame is that MGM/UA has still NOT released this movie in DVD format, and that both editions of this movie (the 1960 original and this remake) are"out of stock"even in vhs format.
What are the movie studios up to?. I want to buy the movie and I can't. Maybe they are cornering us into piracy?.』
(Invaluable) 『As a high school science teacher I deal with common myths and misconceptions involving evolution on a daily basis. This movie does a nice job of helping kids understand the passion of the issue. Evolution is the cornerstone of modern day biology and it is important kids understand why it needs to be taught. The amazing thing about science is that if evidence comes along to disprove a current school of thought, the discipline may change. When religion is questioned the only response is to lash out with hostility and anger. Why can't we question the way Man believes in God?』
(Inherit the Wind (1999)) 『A truly excellent remake of an American classic. Once you get past any inital reservations you may (understandably) have about the film's made-for-cable origins, you will find a work that is, in my opinion, just as engaging as the 1960 version. Two gripes: 1.As mentioned by another reviewer, the direction and camera work is a bit static and elementary. 2. As also mentioned by another reviewer, Beau Bridges at times is too obnixious and over the top. On the other hand, Jack Lemmon and George C. Scott (in his final performace) are absolutely riveting. Piper Laurie is also very compelling as Scott's sympathetic and diplomatic wife. This incarnation of the film is extremely faithful to its predecessor, virtually a frame by frame re-shoot. Yet the dialouge, performaces and subject matter are just as fresh and stirring as they were 40 years ago. Fans of the 1960 release should certainly enjoy, or at least appreciate this latest adaption.』 『The wordclassiccan readily be applied to the story of what became known as the Scopes Monkey Trial, which led to the Broadway hit that has now been filmed for the third time. With Jack Lemmon and George C. Scott playing adversarial attorneys, this period piece deals in ideas and ideals in a masterful courtroom drama.
In 1925, a schoolteacher is arrested for teaching Darwinism in the community of Hillsboro, where such scientific refutations of the Bible are illegal. Scott plays prosecutor Matthew Brady (based on politician Williams Jennings Bryan), bringing majesty and tragedy to a character many would find repugnant, as he prophetically bemoans a society moving "from love of God to love of self." Jack Lemmon plays attorney Henry Drummond (based on the legendary Clarence Darrow) and brings his trademark portrayal of the "little guy" to a man determined to protect a citizen's basic right to freedom of thought, proclaiming, "An idea is a greater monument to God than a cathedral." The wonderful supporting cast, including Beau Bridges, Piper Laurie, and John Cullum, all demonstrate their love of a multilayered drama filled with conundrums of faith and contradictions of philosophy. Veteran director Daniel Petrie helms with little flash, but his production offers so many concepts and emotions that the high points of drama remain with the viewer after the film is over.--Lloyd Chesley』
IPhone 3G used's review (Mulan) 『The movie came very quickly and was in perfect condition. I would definitley buy another product from this seller!』
(Fun Chinese theme) 『Forget the armchair critics. If you're a Disney fan. you'll love this one, about a Chinese girl who joins the army to fight maurading Huns. There's a little dragon friend (Eddie Murphy), a romantic captain of the guard (Donny Osmond provided the singing voice), an evil-looking Hun chieftain, an irritating minister and 3 soldier friends. Despite what others may say, the songs are terrific - not soul (ala Hercules) or jazz (ala Jungle Book), just normal. It's not a kiddies' film - it's for the whole family. Frankly, I'm not really a Disney fan and have little patience to watch most animated films. But this one's worth it.』
(Pretty Good) 『Except, they do still sing--as sort of narration for their emotions. The songs are highly unmemorable (as I sit here writing this, I can only remember the line, "I'll make a man out of you," which is from the very worst song ever including in a Disney film. By the way, will Disney ever have a "training session" that will last more than a couple minutes and that isn't put to a song? They did that to this movie, Hercules, Tarzan (who also grew into an adult instantaneously), and Beauty and the Beast (in that Belle changes her mind about the Beast during a song). One more really bad thing about Mulan--Mushu is a total hinderance. I'm not just talking about his pop-culture mouth (which someone should have popped), but that he in fact causes more problems than he solves. Would it really be so much to ask if Mulan could have made the mistake that "gave away our position," instead of having Mushu shoot off a rocket? At least that way, she's redeeming her own mistake, instead of someone elses, which gives no emotional payoff. Better yet, why not have the falcon find the line of troops--after all, that's what the falcon is for, right? It scouted earlier for the general's encampment and brought back the doll, remember? Oh, and the cross-dressing thing at the end was a little too weird--a bit too Fushigi Yugi and not really very intelligent--do you honestly think that anybody would fall for that trick, even if they were really women (especially considering what the Monguls would have done). The best parts of the movie were the references to Japanese cartoons (anime). When Mushu fries the feathers off of the falcon, it looks like a Chocobo from the Final Fantasy series, but is just as likely a reference to the horseclaws from Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind (the director, apparently, is a devotee of Miyazaki). Another Nausicaa reference--the doll, which is similar to the one that Lord Yupa finds at the beginning of the Nausicaa movie (it crumbles, and Yupa says, "Another village has died."). Also, Mulan's hair is given incredible attention, which is not usually the case in Disney films (usually they're just pretty and blow in the wind). Just watch her hair when she bows in shame after they find out she's a she! Beyond that, there is a good deal of emotional content, though once the possibility of execution is lifted (a life for a life), it is never mentioned again--even though the overseer, who really hated her, could have had her executed at a moments notice once she caught back up with them. And I'm sorry, but for all their knowledge and art, the Chinese were rather steadfast about their ways and about honor--they would not suddenly become so accepting of women, especially since they are still rather unaccepting of women.』
(ONE OF DISNEY'S FINEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILMS!) 『Mixing CGI and hand drawn animation, Disney bring us one of it's greatest animated films, 'Mulan' is better than half the live action films that have come out in the last 10 years. Beautiful animation, exciting action sequences and an wonderful story make this a must see! The battle on the snow covered mountains in breathtaking and reminded me of one of Frank Frazetta's paintings. Most everything works in this film and Eddie Murphy provides a memorable character as Mushu the dragon in this exciting adventure movie. The 2 disc set is full of goodies and sports a great DVD transfer and audio.』
(Review of recent purchase) 『I recently ordered Mulan 2-disc Special Edition from Amazon. I was thoroughly disappointed because there were no discs inside the case! I had to return it and because I no longer trust Amazon, I went to Borders and bought the dvd. It's a great movie, too bad Amazon failed!』 『Solid entertainment from a new group of Disney animators. The story source is a Chinese fable about a young girl who disguises herself as a man to help her family and her country. When the Huns attack China, a call to arms goes out to every village, and Mulan's father, being the only man in the family, accepts the call. Mulan (voiced by Ming-Na Wen, sung by Lea Salonga) has just made a disastrous appearance at the Matchmaker and decides to challenge society's expectations (being a bride). She steals her father's conscription notice, cuts her hair, and impersonates a man to join the army. She goes to boot camp, learning to fit in with the other soldiers with some help from her sidekick, Mushu, a wise-cracking dragon (voiced by Eddie Murphy). She trains, and soon faces the Huns eye-to-eye to protect her Emperor.
The film is gorgeous to look at, with a superior blend of classic and computer-generated animation. Directors Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook make the best of it: a battle in the snowy mountains is as thrilling as the best Hollywood action films. The menacing Huns are not cute but simple and bad. The wickedness is subtle, not disturbing. The film is not a full-fledged musical, as it has only five songs (the best, "Be a Man," is sung during boot camp). Eddie Murphy is an inspired choice for the comic-relief dragon, but his lines are not as clever as Robin Williams's inAladdin. These are minor quibbles, though. The story is strong, and Mulan goes right to the top of Disney animated heroines; she has the right stuff.--Doug Thomas』
