Just the four of them, at the top of their fame and strength. Together with the Queen on Fire, this is a must have for any fan. Freddie's voice is strong, amazing, no shortcuts, no compromises. The band just clicks together. Some beautiful performances here. The video is very good given the age of the material, too bad more footage was not preserved to re-cut the show. Audio is flawless. Other people b**** because somey artists are missing from the package, failing to realize that just by purchasing this product they are a helping hand part of a far bigger picture. It was the late '80 with many televised technical difficulties, and it was never Geldof's intention to record the event. Even with that said 9 hours of one of the largest donational collaborations -- promoted by some of the most insane artists of all time -- was able to be salvaged. Some of the artist were past their prime (The Beatles), others hailed the time when MTV actually played music (Sting), and a few just looked downright insulting (Bono), but all made you remember when we rock n roll was just rock n roll.』 (Queen-Rock Montreal + Live Aid) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『This video was a look back at Queen with Freddie Mercury at the height of their careers in 1981 in Montreal and their appearance at Live Aid in 1985. Freddie Mercury was a fantastic frontman and their Live Aid performance will always be remembered as the best 20 minutes of that show.』 (It Rocks!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『SPECTACULAR! For my money, this is the definitive Queen concert film, capturing the band at the peak of its musical powers. Its also a film (originally titled "We Will Rock You") with a long and storied history and with several previous releases - but if you've seen it before, you've never seen it like this! Queen was recently able to acquire the rights to this film and they have overseen its complete top-to-bottom overhaul. The original film elements, shot on 70mm film for the highest quality image, have been completely cleaned, color corrected and restored, re-edited, and the original 24 track audio has been completely remastered and remixed to the band's exacting standards. This means you get a film that has never looked better and never sounded better. The image is gorgeous and looked amazing on my 50" HD TV, with great detail, deep blacks and beautiful vivid color courtesy of the band's bold on stage lighting rig. You really have to see it to appreciate just how good the show looks. The audio is breathtaking, with every nuance captured, from Roger Taylor's relentless drums, to John Deacon's thundering bass, from Brian May's crystal clear guitar to Freddie Mercury's glorious, emotive vocals. And the performance is fantastic - fast, furious, energetic, dynamic - with unsurpassed performances of "Somebody to Love", "Save Me", "I'm in Love with My Car", Dragon Attack", and the first ever public performance of "Under Pressure". This is the real deal, folks. This is Queen at their absolute best. And the addition of the Queen set from Live Aid is tremendous to finally have on its own. Perhaps the single best 20 minutes of the band's career, I am thrilled to be able to have it on a single disc.』 (Everything you could expect in a concert DVD) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『For those of us lucky enough to have actually seen Queen in concert during their heyday, this DVD is a "Must see" and will bring back all the great memories of those shows. If you never saw them in concert, you owe it to yourself to see this DVD when Queen were at the height of their careers. Freddie Mercury is at his absolute best and Brian May on guitar is untouchable perfection. Old fan or new...You might find yourself in tears a few times, it is that good ;-) After Freddie's untimely death....we're only left to imagine the performances that the world would never see and the millions of fans who are left to wonder what could have been. Thankfully, we have these performances to enjoy what once was, and will never be again. Please...Enjoy one of the greatest bands of all time. Simply put, "Queen, there is no substitute!"』 『Billed as "the day music changed history," the Live Aid concerts of July 13, 1985, were held to raise money to fight the horrifying famines sweeping Africa. The brainchild of Bob Geldof and representing the efforts of countless musicians and technicians, Live Aid was a genuine and inspiring effort to help the victims of an overwhelming calamity. Twenty years after the twin concerts (one in London, one in Philadelphia) were broadcast worldwide, the 4-DVD treatment furthers the cause, with proceeds going toward the Band Aid Trust. The DVD set opens with a heartbreaking documentary on the crisis, followed by videos of the two hit songs that represented the collaborative nature of Geldof's effortsBand Aid' s "Do They Know It's Christmas?" and USA for Africa's "We Are the World." Since Live Aid was never intended to be released in a recorded format, preservation of TV footage has been unreliable, resulting in some glaring omissions. Led Zeppelin's semi-reunion doesn't appear, and neither does a legendary session with Bob Dylan, Ron Wood, and Keith Richards. Some sets by performers who were popular at the time may inspire either nostalgic glee or head-scratching (Kiki Dee fans, you know who you are). Sprinkled amid these performances are a couple real gems, including a performance by Run DMC, the event's sole representative of the ascendant rap movement. Much of the music here was a passing fad, but the sentiment that brought it all together is timeless.-- Ryan Boudinot』 『"Queen Rock Montreal" will be released simultaneously in both high definition formats, HDDVD and Blu-Ray. Kakaku:DVD) IPhone 3G used's review (12 Moody Guys) ![]() ![]() ![]() 『Watching this 1997 version of 12 ANGRY MEN recently, I was struck by the fact that four of the 12 actors in key roles here have since passed away. That has absolutely nothing to do with the film's quality, of course (or nothing directly to do with it), but it is striking that key members of this impressive cast--and of course, I'm referring to Jack Lemmon, George C. Scott, Hume Cronyn and Ossie Davis-- have gone on to that jury box in the sky. As I say, the fact that these great actors have all died within the past decade is not a direct reflection on the film itself. But it does raise at least one issue that a previous reviewer has noted: namely, the question of the cast's relative age in comparison to the cast of the 1957 classic movie version. Jack Lemmon was 72 when he played Juror #8 in this version. In the original film version, Henry Fonda was a comparatively youthful 52 when he portrayed the same character in 1957. Lee J. Cobb was all of 47 when he took on the part of Juror #3. George C. Scott was pushing 70 when he assayed the role. In Scott's case, the role of the pained father--alienated from his own son and transferring some of his rage onto the accused--rings a bit false. He's fine until his climactic moment when he makes this association painfully clear (to all three viewers who hadn't already guessed), but at that very point, his performance unravels. Yes, there are 70 year old men estranged from their 30-something children, but one might expect the rage to be somewhat more muted by that point. Scott's wounds seem almost too fresh in this production. Lemmon's relative maturity is not without its own problems. He is almost too sage. One is never quite sure whether he is really a tentative, but tenacious truth seeker, stubbornly hashing his way through the case's many inconsistencies, or whether he's actually a fine legal mind with a grand strategy that slowly and masterfully unfolds. The obvious attempts to update the film's action are more annoying than enlightening. It's significant that this time out, the jury is racially mixed (and ethnically too, since two of the jurors are at least vaguely European). And depending on your point of view, it may be a sign of progress overall that African-American characters can be as perceptive or as flawed as any of their cohorts. (One even turns out to be bigoted in the extreme against the Hispanic accused.) But by 1997 could you really get away with having a jury without a single woman on it? No, it wouldn't be the same if the film were called 10 ANGRY MEN AND A COUPLE OF WOMEN WHO AIN'T TOO HAPPY EITHER. On the other hand, all the little updates thrown into the mix (including the presence of a female judge) do nothing to alter the fact that the movie is fundamentally anachronistic from the get-go. 』 (cast is too damn old!) ![]() ![]() 『Listen, the actors performing here are all outstanding. The problem is that the script was written for a group of much younger men. I mean, come on! George C. Scott in Lee Cobb's original role does that corny, over-acted ending about being stabbed with the knife by his son - he looks like he's in his '90s here - What's his son? Seventy? Get over it, George! It's just ridiculous. Forget this film - see the play or buy the original film.』 (Decent remake) ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I have to agree with many of the other reviewers who give the nod to the original version over this remake, but, all in all, it still is a decent film that is a study of the justice system. While not as in depth as the original, this is a worthy remake. When a young man is on trial for murder, it is up to a jury of twelve men from different ethnicities and backgrounds to decide his fate. When one juror (Jack Lemmon) boldly takes the stance that he believes the man is not guilty, it sets off fireworks and arguments in the jury room. Each man is given their chance to defend their stance, and, as they fight over whether the young man killed a person, some begin to see the errors of their judgment. Highlighted by an all-star cast, there are many well-known actors who are members of the jury, including Tony Danza, George C. Scott, and Edward James Olmos. The film's subject probably relates to anyone who has had to serve on a jury, and knows the personality clashes that exist within the jury room. What I like about this film is that is really speaks to the idea that one person can have a huge impact in the court of law or in any part of life if they continue to trust their instincts or beliefs. Juror 8 doesn't waver in this regard. Another poignant aspect of the film is the idea of what is fair as far as the jury system goes. As depicted in the film, a few of the jury clearly just wants to "get the case over with" so they can go on with their regular lives. Perhaps one of the subtle messages evoked from 12 Angry Men is that maybe there are flaws in the jury system that need to be addressed. Twelve Angry Men relies much on dialogue to create suspense (rather than action), and for the fact that they are able to capture it (in this version and in the original), I commend it. Almost the entire film takes place in the jury room with the jurors. If you need big explosions, drive-by shootings, or dramatic car chases, or blood and guts, then this might not be a film for you. This is a film that caters to dealing with the justice system, and the jurors one by one try to understand the psychology and motives of someone accused of murder. Check it out! 3 1/2 stars 』 (Dear MGM, WHERE IS THE DVD???!!!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 『I saw this movie back when it was on television and I loved it! I also like the older version. Sean was the first actor to play bond in a "theatrical" movie. But in 1954, 8 years before Dr. No hit the screens, 007 was introduced for the first time on Television broadcast. The movie was called Casino Royale, based on the first novel by Ian Fleming. The movie was adapted from this novel for a CBS broadcast, with the hopes of adapting more of Ian Fleming's novels on TV...but the broadcast was pretty much bashed by critics and ignored by viewers. The movie was broadcasted only once and lost. It was later found and re-broadcasted in the 1990's for TBS, part of a James Bond movie marathon. Thought the problem with that version that was re-aired was that it was missing the final confrontation between Bond And The villainous LE Chifre. This broadcast was available before the broadcast on video in the late 80's. But like the broadcast it was missing the last 5 min. But the wait is long over because Spy Guise has released a special collector's edition that re-stores the missing footage, and re-mastered it to the best possible quality. The only bad quality I would say is the final missing footage, this is due to long years of storage and moist. But other than that this is the complete version of the first broadcast. Another great thing about this VHS is that it has a wonderful intro by Lee Phiffer, who gives an overview of bond's persona and history. And stay tuned after the credits for more info on bond. Anyhow, the movie is quite simple, Barry Nelson plays an American 007 (yep American, who would have thought) he is known as card sense Jimmy Bond. he has a friend in the M:I 6 known as Leiter (yep Leiter is British in this one, who would have thought) both are trying to stop a mad man named Le Chifre ( Peter Lorre) he is planning to re obtain 80 million in a card game (baccarat) Bond is set to play and beat Le Chifre in the game, so he can loose and hand him over to authorities. It doesn't get more complex than that. Not to mention that the first bond leading lady appears in this movie (Linda Christian) The action is a bit dated and cheesy, due to limited budget and time restraints. But the flick is interesting to see the first portrayal of Ian Flemings' literary spy. Oh and a word of advice, do not purchase the DVD version. there are various editions, some ranging up to 40 bucks, others for a mere dollar; it doest matter how much they cost, neither represents the complete version, and none of those have the special features this one has.
