My son picked up our first Chuckit at a local store. What a difference! I can throw the ball really far and I don't have to touch a spitty ball, with my hand, to throw it again. ("Chuckit" has saved my dog from injuries by other dogs....) 『The "Chuckit" ball launcher has been a godsend and probably has saved my dog from injury on a number of occasions. Sounds like an odd testimony indeed, but I have a very sociable and trusting whippet and whippets are possibly one of the two fastest dogs on the planet. Before Jack was interested in chasing a ball, he would only want to entice dogs to chase him at the dog beach or dog park. Consequently, there have been dogs who became aggressive during the chase and have lain in wait for him to run by and have nipped and toppled him to get him under control. I realize this had to stop. So I bought a Chuckit and Jack was hooked immediately. Now he could care less about dogs chasing him - he is happy to greet them - but he does NOT want to be chased any longer. He is so addicted and hyperfocused on the ball. And IF a dog at the beach or park starts chasing him once I have "chucked" the ball, when the dog catches up with Jack, he just comes to a dead stop and will not let the dog chase him. Additionally, in two instances recently, I was able to use my chuck it to ward off dogs rushing towards us, off leash, with no owner in sight. Jack's brother is NOT interested in the ball and he has already had surgery for a serious dog attack - dogs chasing whippets - whippets with very thin skin and skin tears easily. I have seen a lot of DVD concerts but I have yet to see one that had the ability to engulf you into the concert. At one point of the show I had to remind myself that I was at home. I really did forget, and I think that has a lot to do with the way the sound was mastered. I highly recommend this Blu-Ray disc and any Concert that has the DTS sound available. I am now searching for a really nice surround sound system without the included DVD player that it seems all of them come with now. I will never abandon my Blu-ray Player again.』

He could barely talk but he adored this video. He memorized the words to all the songs. He jumped and danced and twirled for hours. I've since searched just to find this so that if I EVER have grandchildren, they can enjoy it just as much. After I bought it, a neighbors child found it in my DVD cabinet and wanted it, so I gave it to him. I'm now buying it for my great-nieces for Christmas as they are BIG Elmo fans. It may seem just a little dated as the clothing isn't exactly the latest fashion, but I don't think the kids would notice one bit! I can even still remember the words!!』
(Delightfully silly) 『This is my first and only Sesame Street video, and my 2-year-old and I both enjoy it. There are a couple of songs that just have drawings (instead of puppets/people) which my son doesn't like, but there are a few outstanding songs that are delightfully silly and/or feature people who were famous in the 70s, which is fun for me. For under $10 it's cute, but it's really just a random re-hashing of old S.S. clips. But I still recommend it.』

IPhone 3G used's review (The Lunatic Asylum Comedy) 『"October 1918" is the date for this story. German soldiers are planting explosives to destroy the advancing British soldiers when they occupy a French city. The townspeople hurriedly evacuate the town. The British are warned, they will not march into town. Instead Private Plumpick [some pun?] will be sent in to scout the town and defuse the bombs - by himself! [Believable?] Discovered by the Germans, he flees into a building for refuge and safety; it is the local insane asylum. The result of the German withdrawal is the inmates can wander freely into the deserted town and select new clothes from the abandoned homes. [This slow-paced action doesn't seem too funny to me.] Comedy is in part cultural, and attitudes change. Perhaps the humor is in suggesting the clothes make the man or woman? Or what looks like normal people are really insane underneath?
This film is certainly unusual for its time. Is it an example of "French Farce"? Were any animals hurt in making this film? [One scene shows armored cars; did they exist at that time?] The film runs on, some scenes are comic and remind me of the clowns in a circus. Will a fireworks display have unintended consequences? Will opposing soldiers fire at each other at unbelievably close range? Will the freed lunatics return to their asylum? Where are the alienists? "Oh dear, who is it now?"
I can't believe this film was successful among viewers. Did they overspend on the costumes and underspend on the story? 』

(an Alan Bates fan) 『Saw this movie back when I was in college, so it brings back memories. Better than I remembered.』
(The madness and madcap-ness of war) 『The madness of war makes the members of the asylum seem sane. Such is the theme of this anti-war comedy directed by France's Philippe de Broca, starring the English actor Alan Bates wearing a jaunty crown, and featuring a young and delectable Genevieve Bujold in a yellow tutu.
She's insane. A virgin who believes she's a prostitute. Her madame is also insane, or so the townsmen of Marville believe. But theirs is such a pleasant insanity that we in the audience are persuaded to ask what is sanity and who needs it? Can nerve gas and rat-infested trenches with bloated, rotting bodies be sane?
But hold on there, that last sentence better describes some other anti-war movies from the time of The Great War, perhaps "All Quiet on the Western Front" or Kubrick's "Paths of Glory." Here the tone is light, the treatment burlesque, the plot absurdly amusing.
Bates plays Private Charles Plumpick (in Scottish kilt) a keeper of messenger pigeons who has "volunteered" to find and defuse a bomb left in Marville by the retreating Jerrys. It's set to go off at the stroke of midnight. The townspeople learn of the bomb and desert the town, leaving the inmates at the sanitarium and the circus animals to fend for themselves. So when Plumpick arrives he finds only a detachment of Germans who spot him and chase him into the asylum. Inside as cover he joins a game of cards with two of the inmates. The Jerrys confront the inmates who identify themselves in absurd ways. Plumpick, with some on the spot inspiration, calls himself "the king of hearts."
And so we have our premise. When the Jerrys retreat to the countryside to await the explosion, and while the English watch for the return of one of Plumpick's pigeons with news that the bomb has been defused, the inmates stream out of the asylum. They take over the town, dressing up in various costumes: this one becomes the mayor, another the priest, and little Mademoiselle "Poppy" (Bujold) awaits her first trick.
This the kind of movie that Monty Python fans would adore, and I suspect it had some effect on the directorial style of Terry Gilliam.
Anyway I wrote a little ditty to anticipate the ending (BEWARE SPOILER!):

I along with at least a few others thought it was the same live concert footage that used to be in VHS, but, now on a DVD. Amazon has comments attached to it from the VHS version which was the live concert (plus some interviews) and that is why it still has a high star rating. I am planning to return this as DVD 2 and DVD 3 are overly redundant in content as well.』
("Buyer Beware" is dead right!) 『The newly released DVD pictured on this page is NOT the Paris concert that buyers would expect, and I was one of the suckers who unfortunately fell for it! This so-called "Collector's Edition" is a 3 DVD set of pure drivel. Monotonous interviews with music reviewers taking up more than half of the time, with the only footage of the band being appalling quality MTV trash that looks more like a bootleg! I'd like to know who at Amazon let this slip through the net when I (and obviously others) were expecting to receive the original Paris concert with the exact same title.
Using the original 1991 title is a sleazy way of selling an item that in all honesty isn't worth the cost of the plastic&paper it's printed on! And to make matters worse, half of the dialogue from the first DVD is repeated on the third. A blatant rip-off!
I expect more of Amazon than to allow a grossly mislabeled load of tedious garbage to be sold as a substitute. It is out&out false advertising!』

(Pricey AC/DC DVD) 『Can anyone tell me why a $15 Vhs tape of archived material is so much? A $40 list price is incredible and the box art showing Brian Johnson as the lead singer is wrong! this from one of the last performances by Bon Scott during the "HIGHWAY TO HELL" tour. I love AC/DC like no other but you can get more from the "Plug" dvd released last year for about the same price and get both lead singers performing live. This DVD distibutor is trying to milk fans of there money with the new CD coming out on OCT. 20th exclusively at WALMART; its called "BLACK ICE".』
(5 years after most of these reviews and STILL no DVD!!) 『"Back in Black" not withstanding, AC/DC have never even come close to equaling what they produced when Bon Scott was alive. And from their beginning to the final Scott album, the classic "Highway to Hell", they just seemed to get better and better! And here we have an entire concert from that tour, filmed in Paris, which shows them at their absolute peak and includes backstage and interview documentary footage!
And, on top of all that, it's quite simply one of the GREATEST Rock and Roll concert films ever made...so WHERE'S THE DVD?!?!? I thought this would be one of the first things they released when DVDs became mainstream, after all, it didn't take long for it to appear on stereo hi-fi VHS in the mid-1980s and I even saw it for rent several times. But to this day, the VHS is all we have!! And that simple fact is one of the great mysteries of the modern media rock era!
I captured and burned this on a DVD-R myself but, as anyone who has ever done that knows, it's a little grainy and stereo is the only audio option so the lack of a re-mastered professional release with 5.1 or 6.1 sound is nothing short of unacceptable! (At least I was able to re-mix it while capturing it so it sounds a little better). And, sorry, "Family Jewels" comes close but, if you're happy with that, you've never seen "Let There Be Rock"!!
The song list is below and, yes, each song is featured in its entirety, this isn't one of those pieces of garbage that only show snippets of songs before going back to the documentary footage.
Bottom line: DVD or no DVD, if you like Rock and still own a VCR there is NO EXCUSE for not already owning this tape. Especially since good used copies are widely available for under $10 including shipping!
