IPhone 3G used's review (Outstanding product) 『This product is sheer joy. It was so easy to setup, I did it within 5 minutes. I would rate the quality of the product as very good value for money. The speed of rotation is pleasing, not too slow or fast. This product indeed brings back childhood memories. Not a bad deal at all when you can re-live your bygone days with this old style yet brand new product. I have been very happy with it. In fact, this will be the third Christmas season I am going to be using it. Talk about buying a long lasting product for a few bucks!
Last year we changed the lamp with a brighter one to get even better results. Overall, this has been the best online buying experience for me.』

Illuminate any tree in red, blue, orange and green with a nostalgic Color Wheel.
The technology is simple, but the effect is spectacular. A color wheel with transparent red, blue, orange and green inserts rotates slowly in front of a brilliant-white halogen light bulb. An ever-changing play of light adds a new dimension to your holiday decorating.Sits a few feet from your tree as the 12-dia. color disc rotates slowly to illuminate any tree in red, blue, orange and green. I bought them due to my kids coming home from school and throwing their coats and backpacks on the floor right when they walked in. I put them together in about 3 minutes (everything just screws in together, and is all ready for assembly once you get it). I thought it would be a little more difficult, but to my surprise, it wasnt. I got two of these, one for my sons bedroom, and one for my daughters. They absolutely LOVED them, and I love that they immediately head for their rooms to put their stuff away when they get home!』

IPhone 3G used's review (A let down) 『Firstly, I thought the MC, Mr.Bill Murray was hugely irritating. Especially as he referred to John McLaughlin as the founder of the "Mahi-Mahi" Orchestra (!). Funny ? Go figure.
Secondly, the production quality, especially the sound, editing and overall stage aesthetics were not a patch on the earlier Crossroads DVD. It's a big let-down. Also, the `Audio' option does not provide for a 5.1 option, only 2.1 is available.
Coming to John McLaughlin, he plays a rather tepid composition, unlike his electrifying duet with Zakir Hussain on the last show.
Even Buddy guy looked a bit jaded. Was it because he came on at the very end ?
The only bright spot was Jeff Beck and his amazing girl-woman bassist (Tal) who played with the same open-mouthed gleeful enthusiasm as a Ronaldino playing soccer. Both the tunes were crackling and left me craving for more.
All in all, I certainly wouldn't go goo-goo ga-ga like all others here. 3 stars will do.
If you really want to see great `live' concerts check out `Concert for George' (featuring Clapton) and `Live in Paris' (featuring Miles Davis !).
Thanks you and goodnight.

(Crow must go !) 『Bill Murray was right at least once when he said, "You will remember this set the rest of your life". He was referring to Disk 2 and the jam with Winwood, Clapton etc. But why was Sheryl Crow even allowed in Chicago on the day much less on stage with real musicians. Eric may have owed her or wanted something to allow her anywhere near a guitar. Could she have been backstage entertainment? Oh well. Despite her a great great DVD.』

(A Must-Buy for Blues Fans and Wannabe Guitar Heros) 『If you're looking for a grassroots feel to a truely spontaneous concert, this collection of performances over a day-long concert in suburban Chicago is well worth the coin you'll spend. The line-up is spactacular and the emotion created on-stage will spill out of your flat-screen and onto the livingroom floor. The two-dvd set will feature some of the greatest guitarists of all time on stage from various genre' and comes to a turmultuous finale' when 7 guitarist hit the stage to play Clapton's favorites. The shear force of this segment must have put-out a brilliant shockwave that must have been felt in far-away Des Moines. If you've grown bored by a sucession of live shows that are overly-produced to the point of yawn-dom, this is a refreshing time-out from all of the hype. You'll see the human side of these artists with backstage interviews and short edits of legends coming-on and off of their performances. One of the notable high-points was the 15 year-old bassist of Jeff Beck. She is a genius and the facial expressions and body language that emanates from her as she leans-into the tunage will give you goose-bumps. The fact that the entire 2007 concert was a fundraiser for Clapton's Crossroads Centre, a very successful detoxification facility, makes the performances just that much more compelling. PBS offered this set duirng one of their fundraising telecasts. You can get it here for far less. Enjoy! And when it's done, you look at your axe and say, "I've got some new chops to learn!" or "It's hopeless...I'm selling my Strat on eBay."』
(Crossroads - Eric Clapton) 『I love any video concerts of Eric Clapton's ... this video makes 4 in our library ... my husband&I saw him in Vancouver, BC last year and he was awesome in concert ... we are big fans.
Thanks very much!』 『A lot of good (and some great) music for a worthy cause takes center stage once again as Eric Clapton hosts the second edition of hisCrossroads Guitar Festival, a benefit for his Crossroads Centre rehab facility in Antigua and a near embarrassment of six-string riches occupying two discs. Staged in suburban Chicago in July, 2007, it features several of the same players who were at the first concert (2004, in Dallas), including Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, John Mayer, Vince Gill, John McLaughlin, and Robert Randolph. They're all in fine form, but it's those appearing for the first time who make the biggest impressions. Derek Trucks, who performs on his own, with his wife (Susan Tedeschi, herself an excellent blues guitarist), and backing several other artists (including a frighteningly decrepit-looking Johnny Winter), is a strikingly versatile young player. On the other end of the generational spectrum, the veteran Albert Lee spins out a series of stupefyingly swift licks on "Country Boy," while Jeff Beck is, well, Jeff Beck, at age 63 still inarguably one of the most original musicians to ever strap on a Stratocaster. While most of the others are content to play straight blues or blues-derived rock, Beck sounds as if he's riding a spaceship with strings, wringing sounds out of his instrument that defy understanding, let alone imitation; backed by ace drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and 22-year-old Tal Wilkenfeld, who may be the most exciting electric bassist to emerge since Jaco Pastorius, Beck delivers versions of "'Cause We've Ended as Lovers" and "Big Block" that are the highlights of the show. Elsewhere, Clapton, as is his wont, rises to the occasion in the presence of his peers and plays with considerable passion, even if his "reunion" with Steve Winwood lacks fire (mostly due to the lackluster nature of their Blind Faith-era material, other than the lovely "Can't Find My Way Home"). In the end, one might wish for more goodsongs, as opposed to opportunities for extended soloing, but even diehard axe-heads will surely be satiated after some four hours of hot licks. As for everyone else, well, that's why God invented the fast forward button.--Sam Graham』 『Studio: Wea-des Moines Video Release Date: 11/20/2007 Run time: 240 minutes』

As it turns out, this two-CD concert is great! It opens with Chcago and Towner of Power, two horn-driven bands, playing several songs together. Then they toss a coin to see who goes first and Tower of Power gets the win. I've never been a big fan of theirs, but Mr. Bailey and Co. kept my attention.
The second CD opens with Chicago's performance, and closes with both groups jamming together for several tunes. With Pete Cetera long gone, I was prepared for a watered-down "oldies" band. The few young guys add some energy, but, surprisingly, the original members of the band are in fine shape and kicked butt. Fortunately, much of the concert was geared toward Chicago's early hits. (I stopped following the band after Chicago VII, and I own every CD from Chicago Transit Authority through Chicago VII...nothing since has really caught my interest.) On the performances of the early tunes, the band was spot on. Considering these guys have been together now some 40 years, and the original members are in their sixties, they performed with a cohesive energy that took me back to my youth! They were solid!
The idea of having two artists join together, opening and closing the show in unison, was a good one. My wife watched DVD 1. I watch DVD 2. We're both more than happy with this DVD. We got our money's worth!』

(Great Concert for those that remember!) 『Just what we need, another bunch of aging rockers from the 60's and 70's trying to cash in on the nostalgia boom. Well, that's what it seems on the surface. Delve a little deeper and spend some time with this Blu-ray DVD and you'll discover a musical excellence that transcends time and generational change. Both groups have an infusion of youth (not surprising as some of the original members have gone to that great concert in the sky) but maintain the original sound albiet with much greater fidelity than was originally possible with 70's audio technology. There are two reasons to buy this Blu-ray DVD, firstly the picture and sound quality are almost reference level (I own a HiFi store and use it for demo and system set ups), secondly the musical performance is just brilliant with band members of both groups interchanging and singing each others songs. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that there are some lulls in the performance although judicious use of the remote can soon dispatch them. All in all this is a disk that anyone with a musical bent and good audio/video system should consider adding to their collection. Regardless of musical taste, you won't be disappointed.』
(Chicago and Earth Wind&Fire: Live at the Greek) 『Energetic performances and superb pacing by Chicago and Earth Wind&Fire, enhanced by first rate Blu-Ray sound and picture add up to one of the greatest home video concerts ever made!
An absolute must for your collection! You'll feel like your sitting right in the audience in the Greek Theater on a warm summer evening. Let me correct that. You'll be up on your feet like everybody else in the audience!』 『The '70s and '80s rule as two of the most popular bands from that era join forces onChicago/Earth Wind&Fire - Live at the Greek Theatre, a two-disc, nearly three-hour concert recorded in Los Angeles in 2004. These groups scored dozens of hits in their heydays, and if neither has come up with much of anything that's new in the past two decades, the sold-out audience at the Greek Theatre could hardly care less. Both Chicago and Earth, Wind&Fire, have soldiered on despite key personnel changes over the years (Chicago bassist-singer Peter Cetera and EWF founder Maurice White are long gone, and much missed); here they perform energetic and tasteful versions of everything from "Make Me Smile," "I'm a Man," and "Saturday in the Park" (Chicago) to "That's the Way of the World," "Fantasy," and "Serpentine Fire" (EWF), among many others, to rapturous response. Nothing too exciting about all of that--in fact, it's a bit like witnessing a couple of very skilled tribute bands at work--but there are a few surprises, as when Chicago keyboardist-singer Bill Champlin takes the lead on "After the Love Has Gone" (which he co-wrote) and EWF singer Philip Bailey returns the favor on Chicago's "If You Leave Me Now." The highlights are the first and last portions of the show, when the two bands (complete with horn sections) share the stage for "September," "25 or 6 to 4," "Shining Star," and more, displaying genuine joy at performing together and generating a huge, infectious sound delivered with high definition visuals and digital audio.--Sam Graham』 『The teaming of legendary groups Chicago and Earth Wind&Fire was the tour hit of the summer. Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Great singing, Beautiful music, horrible filming) 『This production is 95% very, very close-up full face shots. There are no, zero, full stage shots. Very Occasionally there is a full body shot. There is absolutely no sense of theater at all.
This opera could have been filmed in an 8 x 12 foot room. No sense of space exists. DAS BOOT had more wide shots. Even the dance sequences, by famed choreographer Lucinda Childs, are shown in half body, never in full ensamble. There were close-ups that showed only an EYE, full screen. The average cut away was about every two seconds. The camera never lingered on a singer for more than a second or two. The fine chorus was shown, guess what, as only full face individuals. Gerald Finley was excellent, but did we have to see him in extreme close-up ALL THE TIME. Paul Newman he's not. We have scene after scene of Kitty Openheimer SLEEPING in close-up. There is even a close-up of a plastic baby doll.
This Video is a shame. A wonderful performance ruined by totally inept filming. The video jacket credits the director, Peter Sellers, as the TV director. He must be incompetent or playing a joke on us.
Wait for the Mets HD filming to become available.』
(Finley's aria is fantastic, but it's in the wrong opera) 『When a local theater subscribed to the Metropolitan Opera's HD LIVE series and broadcast DR. ATOMIC on November 8th I decided I shouldn't miss it. I'm not a fan of Adams, but the subject matter is so important, and it had been brought to my doorstep...
DR. ATOMIC has its moments. The first act builds up to a tremendous aria, Gerald Finley singing "Batter My Heart," one of the Holy Sonnets of John Donne, as the character of Robert Oppenheimer. The first scene is the assembled throng of Manhattan Project workers. I was decidedly underwhelmed. The second scene is a love scene with Oppenheimer and his wife Kitty -- much better, with Finley in fine form. Then back to the bomb, with the test blast impending and a rainstorm, building tension. Finally, the Faustian scene with Oppenheimer singing to God. The problem with this is that Oppenheimer was Jewish, and not observant. Yes, he did in fact use Donne's sonnet for the name of the Trinity Test Site in southern New Mexico, but this discrepancy undercut the power of the most powerful scene in DR. ATOMIC for me.
The second act I found to be poorly conceived. The weather and the delay in the test, which took place July 16th, 1945, drives the action, which strikes me as a small and mundane aspect of such a literally earth-shattering series of events. The best part of Act II is Kitty, who in real life was a committed leftist and opponent of the Project, and who in the opera symbolizes the human conscience as well as the archetypal Woman standing against the deadly plans of the men, generals and scientists alike. I was not at all convinced by the addition of a Noble Savage role for the Indian maid Pasqualita and a gallery of impassive male Indians in full regalia. The ending is weak, with a pointed message about Hiroshima and Nagasaki, yes, (148,000 people were killed immediately by the only two atomic bombs ever to have been used in war, and 340,000 including those killed later by radiation poisoning and other effects), but not nearly as effective as the ending of Act I.
Of course the Met's production is not the same original Peter Sellars staging as in this DVD of the Netherlands Opera. I haven't stressed those details, only the basic plot elements. Finley continues in his role as Oppenheimer -- he has sung the part in every production so far, in San Francisco, Amsterdam, Chicago and New York.
As far as Adams's position as a leading American composer, I remain underwhelmed. Minimalism has become merely one element in his eclectic but tonal style, now a sort of audience-friendly PoMo Lite, an acceptable badge of hipness, and Adams continually strives to be a contemporary composer for those who don't like New Music.
』
(Finley alone worth watching) 『This is an excellant production. If you don't like modern, dissonent opera, then this might not be for you. The production is powerfully done and the singing and symphonic quality top notch.』
(Is it History or Opera?) 『Thanks for the history lesson, Tom, but Holy Cow! If the only acknowledgment of the music you heard today is "While the score is certainly engaging and momentous at times.." and your best recommendation is to forget the opera and read a book chronicling the Manhattan Project, why did you spend the money to go to the opera? Like any theater piece, opera is at its best dealing with human passions and the conflicts which arise between people in relationship to each other. Words, music and visuals combine to create a vivid metaphor for the human condition, and perfect historical accuracy need not be part of the equation. The hopes and fears of the scientists as they struggle with creating a device they hope will save lives but may indeed pose the threat of annihilation; the personality conflicts between two scientists working toward the same goal while harboring different personal agendas; the costs that single-minded dedication to an urgent goal may exact on a precious personal relationship; the contrast between hard concrete left-mind science and mysterious, numinous native spirituality; and above all, the struggle of a sensitive and artistic temperament to reconcile his sense of beauity and love with the monstrosity he has created--these are the business of opera, and Doctor Atomic is a riveting exploration of those issues.
Adams' music reflects these struggles magnificently, flowing through them all, from love and passion to lurking menace and fear, like a river. I, too, was in the theater today for Doctor Atomic, and I was knocked flat by the electrifying scene at the end of Act I, as Oppenheimer, alone with his creation as it looms over him, writhes in an agony of conscience over what he has done. The historical record supports this idea, and you can see it there on his face in any portrait of the man even if he didn't really stand there alone in the moonlight. But even if it wasn't real fact, it is a perfect way for the artist to illustrate one of the major cosmic themes of the opera and of our day. Any viewer/listener with the equipment to allow the music, poetry, and images to work their triple magic on one's conscious and unconscious being would have to be struck dumb by the power of that scene. This is great theater--cosmic questions made real in the passions of human beings--so, who cares about history at a moment like that? On that level, Doctor Atomic is a work of genius which takes one's breath away.
I've read my World War II history as well, and it has enriched my experience of this opera; for example, I am inspired to revisit the historical record to see if my memory of the characters of Oppenheimer and Teller should be adjusted because of the surprisingly different angle on their personalities and conflicts which the opera presents. But that's only an interesting sidelight compared with the overwhelming emotional experience of surrendering to the sights, sounds and words of great human passions, illustrated as only a great opera can do.
If these live transmissions by the Met can help people learn to park their preconceived ideas at the door for a couple of hours and open themselves to such powerful experiences, they have done their job. Leave the history books next to your easy chair for some other cold day in front of the fire. 』
(Almost perfect) 『The plot is based on the last days of the Manhattan project, but in fact the greatness of this opera is the portraying of the human struggles of the people involved in the project. The plot itself is the reason to get into those very human emotions and struggle, so the full accuracy of the plot doesn't seem to me of crucial importance. The best music is for those internal looking moments, with the necessary "actions" to put everything in perspective (sounds familiar?). Some of the tense moments in the plot are for music only, masterly composed by John Adams. I have the feeling the production is over played which sometimes disturbs and distracts. In addition, some of the close-ups (for the DVD) are over-dramatic veering the attention from the poetry and the music. The music and the lyrics are beautiful and strong enough. It doesn't need over-acting and distractions like people moving fast on the scene. The last scene of first act is impressive, in particular when Oppenheimer silhouette raises his hand and finger to the "Gadget" (God?)... but there is no finger responding this time. Remembering that all music (and opera) was once new, this DVD is recommended for all Opera lovers and enthusiasts. 』 『The longing to overcome human boundaries lead the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to begin an experiment that formed a threat to the whole of humanity, and whose scientific results still do today. The question of the moral implications of the atomic bomb is raised in John Adams opera, just as much as that of the influence on the private lives of the main characters. Doctor Atomic is the fifth work to result from almost twenty years of collaboration between the American composer and his fellow American director and Erasmus Prize-winner Peter Sellars. Doctor Atomic concerns itself with the work of J. Robert Oppenheimer and his team of scientists at the test site of the first atomic bomb outside Los Alamos, New Mexico during the lead-up to the first detonation. As Zero Hour relentlessly approaches and conditions become less and less favorable, individual tensions build feverishly and Oppenheimer and his staff struggle with the moral implications of their work on 'the Gadget', and the strong possibility of global annihilation. Recorded in high definition video and true surround sound, John Adams' fascinating, overwhelming score and Peter Sellars' forceful staging (and TV direction) portray Oppenheimer, exquisitely sung by Gerald Finley, as a profoundly troubled man, at odds with himself but moving inexorably forward, representative of the great ethical dilemmas of humanity itself.』
IPhone 3G used's review (the beauty of reality) 『I have watched this movie more than 20 times. It represents honesty, pride, power, and determination molded all in love and care. This movie is not for everyone. It is for men of ethics, tradition, and determination.』

(Wonderful Classic) 『All I will say is"I LOVE THIS MOVIE"!! I am so glad to have found it online! I haven't seen it since it first came out and I was a kid. I have always wanted to find it on video to buy! It is just a western romance about a cowboy's heart ache and his search for his runaway wife. But I won't tell you much more (like other reviews). I don't want to ruin it for you. Other people are making this mistake of telling the ending, such as who kills who and when and so forth. HELLO!! Don't ruin the ending!!!』
(The Other Devine Miss M?) 『What can I say- this movie's more fun than you might think... despite the dreadful performance by Morgan Fairchild (far from devine)!! Where are the Petticoat Junction girls when you need them? As always- Willie's cool and collected and he manages to keep a straight face whenever Ms. Fairchild dribbles her lines! Why the producers failed to cast Katharine Ross or, perhaps, the sexiest woman in the film- "Cindy" (Baytowns Miss Marinell Madden... who eventually offs Mr. Nelson while wearing a wonderfully campy wig!) is beyond me, but I always enjoy this movie whenever I catch it, and will long for a DVD of out takes whenever somebody sees fit! Just checking for you!』

(Disney's Dumbo) 『My grandkids love to watch this movie (and I love to watch it with them). It has great animation, and funny as well as tender scenes. When the mother elephant sings "Baby Mine, Don't You Cry" I always water up. A great song from a great movie.』
(Brings Me to Tears Every Time) 『Jumbo? Don't you mean Dumbo!
And so the tearfest begins.
I loved this movie as a child and recently rediscovered it while visiting with my two year-old niece. As is typical for kids that age, we watched the movie everyday (sometimes twice) for a week.
Every time I cried.
I can't really think of another Disney movie that depicts such a wonderfully loving and sweet relationship between parent and child (no Bambi didn't do it for me).
Plus Dumbo is the self-doubting underdog throughout, which simply makes me love him even more.
Oh, and my niece, she squealed with delight for Dumbo's triumphs each time and paid serious attention to the sad parts where mother and child are separated. Never underestimate a two year-old.
The only reason I stop short of giving it a 5-star is the dated depictions of excessive alcohol use, smoking and the stereotyping of the crows...yeah I know you can't stereotype crows as such, but we can easily figure out to whom those stereotypes apply. Can't go back in time and undo the social circumstances that made this acceptable childrens entertainment.
Overall, though the touching story of an outcast only a mother could love and his triumph over his tormentors is timeless.』
(Best Disney movie for toddlers) 『I have various Disney movies and this is the best one for toddlers as it does not contain the thematic and real violence of a Peter Pan, nor sibling bickering like in Cinderella nor a too-hip attitude. Instead it is innocent and very positive in its message of overcoming your weaknesses and of self-esteem. (In fact I read an article that a company in India uses this movies to motivate its employees.) Aside from this, this movie is a masterpiece for people of all ages. The next best ones for toddlers are maybe Cinderella and The Jungle Book and when they are a little older Little Mermaid and Alice in Wonderland. For Aladdin and Lion King I'll maybe wait until my little one is maybe 5.』
(My new review today) 『More Dumbo carttoon movie from Disney ! Elizabeth L.』 『A Disney "classic" that actually is a classic,Dumboshould be part of your video collection whether or not you have children. The storytelling was never as lean as inDumbo, the songs rarely as haunting (or just plain weird), the characters rarely so well defined. The film pits the "cold, cruel, heartless" world that can't accept abnormality against a plucky, and mute, hero. Jumbo Jr. (Dumbo is a mean-spirited nickname) is ostracized from the circus pack shortly after his delivery by the stork because of his big ears. His mother sticks up for him and is shackled. He's jeered by children (an insightful scene has one boy poking fun at Dumbo's ears, even though the youngster's ears are also ungainly), used by the circus folk, and demoted to appearing with the clowns. Only the decent Timothy Q. Mouse looks out for the little guy. Concerns about the un-PC "Jim Crow" crows, who mock Dumbo with the wonderful "When I See an Elephant Fly," should be moderated by remembering that the crows are the only social group in the film who act kindly to the little outcast. If you don't mist up during the "Baby Mine" scene, you may be legally pronounced dead.--Keith Simanton』
IPhone 3G used's review (I am SOOOO SICK) 『No, the School House Rock segments are not all correct, nor are they right on the money, when it comes to History. But, you have to realize, they were never meant to be. Our text books in school are not 100% accurate either. SHR was never meant to be 100% accurate. It was created to make kids think, and present the material in a way where it would be fun. Yes, alot is left out, but alot more is in there also. Im am so sick of people trying to be so POLITICALLY CORRECT these days. GET OVER IT, and just accept School House Rock for what it is. (Homeschooling mother of five) 『Well, i am here to say this is a fabulous tool! I watched all of these as a child and have shared them with my children. For those of you with the less than 5 star reviews let me say...This is not meant to be an exhaustive history lesson! It is a great way to introduce children to the history of our country. Something that, in my experience, schools made very boring. My children love history. If you find it not as accurate then be the one to take the next step and research it with your kids. I would agree it is geared toward younger kids but not that older kids would find it"stupid"at all! These reviews were pretty harsh. Also, the pilgrims DID plant food. Yes, the indians taught them everything and saved them but i wouldn't call that an inaccuracy. The movie just didn't get that deep into it. Come on now it is only a half hour! I highly recommend this to children of all ages. It opens the door to questions and conversations about our country that may not be raised otherwise. The music is very catchy and stays with you. It is plain and simple fun while being educational at the same time. Don't let the negative reviews sway you. This is a great video series and I highly recommend it!!』
(This is awesome dude) 『School House Rock is mad awesome cool! I love all the song, like i'm just a bill. i memorized the preamble cause of the preamble song thing. peace』 『Once upon a time kids learned many of their school lessons in the three-minute episodes of Schoolhouse Rock. These educational cartoons came on during the commercial breaks of the less-than-edifying Saturday morning fare in the 1970s, and despite their healthy content, kids stayed glued to the screen to sing along to the somewhat psychedelic cartoons. Countless children hummed their way through social studies. The Preamble to the Constitution is much easier to remember when it's set to music. And everyone who saw the cartoon remembers how a bill becomes a law ("Oh, I'm just a bill, a lonely old bill, sitting here on Capitol Hill"). These and eight other shorts make upAmerica Rock, a 30-minute program that will stir patriotism and teach kids a bit of history.
