IPhone 3G used's review (Re-paint and Thin No More...) 『I have painting in my blood...which kinduv makes it hard to donate...but my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were all very accomplished painters. I, on the other hand, tend to dabble and because I see myself as more or less a dabbler, I really don't find it necessary to go all out on products.
These paints fit the bill very nicely for what I like to do. They go on rather smoothly and they don't tend to glob up like some paints do. They also tend to wash out of clothing very easily as my wife can attest. I happened to sit on a tube of brown paint....yeah, tell me about it...it was a bummer, especially when I was wearing white shorts at the time...
But when I'm not going for the skidmark look, I like to use these paints on canvas as well as on heavy cardboard. Like I said, I just dabble but it's better the dabble you know than the dabble you don't...
Besides, would I lie to you? I've done 300+ reviews on this here website and I'm not about to start. I have a reputation. It might not be very good, but I have one.
I think I would even recommend these paints to someone who is accomplished. I like the way they mix. By the way, did you know that when you mix blue and red you get purple? I know that because there is now a big purple stain on one of my good shirts.

These gentlemen are like a fine wine - they get better with age! If you are looking for a cookie cutter recording of the songs you know and love, this CD may not be right for you. That being said, I submit to you that with the new arrangements and instrumentation found on this CD, your favorite songs will sound better than ever! What is apparent to the listener is the fact that the vocal performances and harmonies are stronger and more intense than ever before. In addition, the multi-faceted and extremely talented T-Bone Wolk and Charlie DeChant shine bright during this performance. As for the DVD part of the package... I cannot give it such high reviews. The editor on the project has seen fit to jam the performance full of extremely quick cuts - enough to cause the viewer to need a dose of Dramamine. There are blatant mis-synched shots where Daryl doesn't even look like he's singing the same song as being played. I am aware that this was a two night, best of, compilation. But, I believe that any of their single song performances would have served the viewer better than what was slapped together. It was a good effort, but I feel more of the performance electricity by listening to the CD than watching the DVD. If you are a die hard fan that HAS to see the performance in order to take away the magic, then buy the combo. If you are truly a music aficionado, and simply want to envelop yourself in the joy that is "Hall and Oates," then the CD is the way to go. For me, listening to "When the Morning Comes," brings me back to a moment in time when a young child fell in love, simply by turning on her AM radio. So during this season of giving, I thank Daryl and John (and all that encompass Hall and Oates)for continually sharing their gift with all of us!』

Its a very "unplugged" sort of treatment..which I favor over electronica anyway...and the songs really are not hidden behind too much production but the band is very very good.
nearly 20 songs are played 2 hours (much better than all the 1 hour half shows on DVD these days) and Halls voice is still very very good..blue eyed soul. The bonus interviews are also a nice touch..
If you are a fan this should be a "buy it now"...if your not, I'm not sure why you are reading but this would be a good DVD to start with and you will find you know more of these songs than you thought you did! I believe Hall and Oates officially passed Simon&Garfunkel as the most popular duo of all time many many years ago...and all I mention that for is to note they did have a serious string of hits!

I am a die hard Michael Jackson fan and anybody whom is in love with Micahel as much as I am needs to buy this movie. He is truely a great entertainer and a brilliant performer/actor. Very good story, GREAT MUSIC SEQUENCES, classic Michael Jackson at his greatest!I mean, what else could you ask for? He was the hero in this movie and is my hero in real life. Even with all the alligations surrounding him, you can't deny his emaculate influence to the music industry and the world. It has been a long time since I have seen this movie and I am so glad that I recieved the opportunity to buy a copy for myself. His legacy will continue no matter what....』
(The moon is walking) 『This movie is not on region 1 DVD yet and STILL it has over a hundred reviews with a 4.5 star average. The explanation is because this is simply an awesome film and treasure chest from when Michael was at his peak. Well, Thriller was his peak but this is close. You don't necessarily have to be a Michael Jackson fan to like it, but being an 80s fan is obligatory. Especially given the amount of Claymation in this film.
This movie is a collection of segments. The first involves some live Michael footage. I usually don't watch this. I don't like the song, don't know what it is, but it's this wimpy feel-good "heal-the-world" nonsense.
After this the movie really kicks in. It's this montage that basically is out to show you how awesome Michael is. It's a career retrospective that, given Michael's recent actions, is kind of sad. This segment is really eerie for some reason. It's filled with strange visuals. For example, at one point the screen showing Michael footage turns into a starship and flies away. There's also some Claymation, natch.
Next there's some more weirdness involving a superfluous remake of the Bad video only with the adults replaced with children. At one point the little "Michael" holds his hand over his mouth like he forgot his line and...well this is just kinda weird. Nothing can prepare you for the absolute weirdness of the next segment. Heck, who am I trying to kid, this whole thing is weird.
Things really take a turn for the terrifying when we are introduced to claymation psychos stalking Michael! The really strange thing is they are claymation when they are shown up close, but in the long shots they are real people wearing huge heads! This segment is filled with cartoon hijinx . People getting squished like pancakes for example. Michael, being chased by the aforementioned claymation stalkers, transforms into a claymation rabbit in order to escape. This is just the first of many transformations Michael will transmogrify into during the course of this film. Michael takes to the streets and is pursued by the terrifying stalkers that take to the street as well. Michael transforms into many people at different points in the chase including Pee Wee Herman. This part of the film is used to showcase the "Speed Demon" song. His retreat vouchsafed, he takes off the rabbit mask. Much to his chagrin, the Rabbit mask becomes the rabbit. After a dance off, Michael obviously wins by using a super-duper-presto-chango-spinning-dance-tornado. Sadly, this takes place in a no-dancing-zone and Michael is given a ticket.
This next segment is basically a music video for the song "Leave me alone." This video focuses on the many rumors(and truths) that the tabloids printed about Michael. Great 80s visuals including dogs in suits, Bubbles the chimp, and Michael dancing with the elephant man's bones.
Finally we have the Smooth Criminal segment which is the centerpiece of the film. This part is a very strange tale, penned by Michael if I'm not mistaken. In this little fable, Michael and three children romp in a field when they stumble upon an eerie cave. Two of the children go in to retrieve their ball and Michael and the girl are forced to enter in order to find them. Filled with spiders and webs, the cave offers quite a perilous challenge. They stumble upon the hideout of a mob boss, played by Joe Pesche. This drug lord reveals his plan to get children hooked on drugs. I suppose this plan is yclept "Bugs and drugs" because the mobster repeats this phrase for seemingly no reason. I could make the statement that spiders are not bugs, but I'll let this go. The mob boss spots them and with what turns out to be my favorite part of the whole movie, proceeds to scream at them "DEEEEEAAAAAD! DEEEEEAAAAAD! DEEEEEAAAAAAD! I assume Michael and the kids escape because we next see Michael exiting his house where he is shot at by the mobster's army. Due to his supernatural powers, Michael is saved and, once again, takes to the streets. When he is cornered by the thug army he does what any iconic superstar does, he transforms into a car. Car-Michael escapes and the mobsters pursue him on motorcycle-back. Meanwhile, the little girl from earlier bivouacs in a decrepit on dive yclept "Club 30s." She is soon joined by the two boys from earlier. Car-Michael arrives at the seen and transforms back. Michael enters Club 30s and he must have time travel abilities as well because with a flash of light the dive is now filled with patrons in appropriate period costumes. Michael now sings Smooth Criminal." Don't prematurely assume that things are over for this segment because after the song Michael meets up with the boys that divulge the horror to Michael that the girl has been kidnapped. All that remains is a spider covered teddy bear. Michael, undoubtedly pissed, goes off in search of her only to be surrounded by the mobster's army. Do you think things are over for Michael? I hope not because you've obviously forgotten that in this film Michael has supernatural powers. As the drug lord begins to inject smack into the little girl Michael uses a scream-attack that shatters all the glass within a 50 mile radius. Awestruck, the mob-army can only stand stoically as Michael undergoes yet another transformation. He turns into a robot like being that continues to utilize the scream-attack and uses missiles and a secondary weapon. Cumulonimbus clouds form in the backdrop and Michael now unleashes his tertiary weapons system: a double cannon that protrudes from his stomach. After all his goons are history, the mob boss takes flight. He wasn't trying to escape however, instead he wishes to unleash his most powerful weapon at Michael: a huge particle beam cannon! All this time Michael has been transforming into his final and ultimate form: Starship Michael!!! He unleashes his coup de grace beam attack and the mob boss is blown to smithereens!
With this amazing segment finished there's really no reason to continue watching. Nothing in this review is made up, it's all in the movie. If you have not seen this movie, don't wait for the DVD, get the VHS post-haste!!!』

Hopefully we'll see it on DVD soon, and if you can get it for your kids, do so, if not, get it for yourself. I must say that it's not a very coherent movie, it's more like pieces of different things but it's not like you're getting it for the story line.』

(Good but could have been GREAT with some changes.) 『I tried to watch Scarlett without comparing it to GWTW, as many previous reviewers had suggested, but that is easier said than done. The story and characters are so intertwined, you can't help but think how they got to where they are in the current situation. That being said, Scarlett impresses me as a movie that had a lot of work, planning, and thought behind it. There is some actual depth to the story which traces Scarlett back to her ancestral homeland in Ireland and for me actually fills in a lot of the gaps in the original GWTW. Also the settings and costumes are extraordinarily well done. The colors and photography are outstanding, however, I wish this would have been filmed in 16:9 widescreen instead of the 4:3 television format. Unfortunately in 1994, when this made-for-TV movie was made, few directors were thinking about HDTV.
My biggest gripe about the movie is Scarlett herself. Timothy Dalton makes a convincing Rhett Butler, although you find yourself always comparing him to Clark Gable. Actually, had Dalton been cast in the original GWTW, he might have actually made a better Rhett. But it's too late and Gable is a hard act to follow.
Getting back to the character Scarlett O'Hara, I'm not sure Joanne Whalley was the best choice here. She is a fine actress indeed, but she is no Vivien Leigh. Sure, the character Scarlett is supposed to be assertive and aggressive and maybe even a little bossy at times. But in the mini-series, Scarlett comes off as being a "witch" (spelled with a "b") which for me at least, was thoroughly distracting and downright annoying a good bit of the time.
I've read both the book GWTW and seen the movie numerous times and I would have never ever characterized the original Scarlett with the b-word. Even though she could get a little self centered at times, you always knew in your heart that she was basically a good person and maybe just caught up in her own emotions and ambitions.
But Whalley, playing Scarlett, comes off as being downright sinister at times. Calling the movie "Scarlett" couldn't be more accurate because throughout the entire movie you can perceive Scarlett thinking "This is about ME and don't even think about getting in my way". I'm not sure it's the dialog that is at fault here. I think it is more the way Whalley projects her lines and the little smirk on her face that says "I'm number one here". I'm not willing to blame Whalley for this. Maybe that's what the director wanted from her as an actress. But to me this is the number one reason this is not the great movie it could be.
My second complaint has to do with some highly improbable circumstances. For instance, Scarlett goes from being penniless to having the equivalent in today's dollars of about $10 million in the original GWTW then suddenly she is worth the equivalent of several billion dollars in the movie Scarlett. None of this is explained fully in the movie and what little explanation there is, is not convincing to me. I would not normally dwell on such a minor point except that Scarlett uses her vast new-found wealth to change the lives of the many people she comes in contact with. Another highly improbable circumstance is when Good Sam goes from being a charming but uneducated field hand to a highly successful businessman. Again, just not convincing to me.
Finally, the overly graphic sexual encounters were completely unnecessary. I was amazed they actually got away with showing this on TV back in 1994. The scenes add nothing of value to the movie and were probably added just to appease the investors and movie moguls.
Overall though, it was much better than I expected and I would recommend it as a must see. If you can overlook the flaws, I think you will find Scarlett the movie enjoyable and entertaining and definitely worth seeing. 』

(Love it or hate it, this movie is a must see) 『I, like so many other people here, saw this movie when it was originally broadcast in the 80's. I was a teenager and it frightened the hell out of me. Now, as and I adult, I just reordered it from Amazon Marketplace to view again with my family. Some say the movie is inacurate. Some say it's eerily right on. Others consider it to be complete conjecture. In the end, the theme you hear in the majority of reviews is that if you saw this movie 25 years ago, it stuck with you. It ticked you off, or haunted you. Personally, it freaked me out, but whether it's fact or fiction, or a mixture of both, no one can argue that it's entertaining, and worth watching! I would imagine that although the things that were printed on the net at the time of 9-11 were hoaxes, that watching this film post 9-11 has to be creepy even without specific mention of the towers. (Do You Ever Wonder?) 『Does it ever make you wonder why this film (slated for DVD release in 2002)never made it to that point? Do you ever wonder why it's no longer available on VHS (except for a few smart people that were looking into the future themselves) I certainly haven't been able to find it for rent at any of my local video outlets. Hummmm.....Don't recall seeing on cable, either. Maybe the "Powers that Be" don't believe most people can think on their own, and they would go flying into the streets in great panic if this movie were to become available. This is a very entertaining documentary, and whether the predictions are accurate or not.....it got a lot of people thinking, and studying. Maybe people should be thinking about other things that may be with-held "For our own Good?" You know the slogan for "The powers that Be" is....a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
