These gentlemen are like a fine wine - they get better with age! If you are looking for a cookie cutter recording of the songs you know and love, this CD may not be right for you. That being said, I submit to you that with the new arrangements and instrumentation found on this CD, your favorite songs will sound better than ever! What is apparent to the listener is the fact that the vocal performances and harmonies are stronger and more intense than ever before. In addition, the multi-faceted and extremely talented T-Bone Wolk and Charlie DeChant shine bright during this performance. As for the DVD part of the package... I cannot give it such high reviews. The editor on the project has seen fit to jam the performance full of extremely quick cuts - enough to cause the viewer to need a dose of Dramamine. There are blatant mis-synched shots where Daryl doesn't even look like he's singing the same song as being played. I am aware that this was a two night, best of, compilation. But, I believe that any of their single song performances would have served the viewer better than what was slapped together. It was a good effort, but I feel more of the performance electricity by listening to the CD than watching the DVD. If you are a die hard fan that HAS to see the performance in order to take away the magic, then buy the combo. If you are truly a music aficionado, and simply want to envelop yourself in the joy that is "Hall and Oates," then the CD is the way to go. For me, listening to "When the Morning Comes," brings me back to a moment in time when a young child fell in love, simply by turning on her AM radio. So during this season of giving, I thank Daryl and John (and all that encompass Hall and Oates)for continually sharing their gift with all of us!』

Its a very "unplugged" sort of treatment..which I favor over electronica anyway...and the songs really are not hidden behind too much production but the band is very very good.
nearly 20 songs are played 2 hours (much better than all the 1 hour half shows on DVD these days) and Halls voice is still very very good..blue eyed soul. The bonus interviews are also a nice touch..
If you are a fan this should be a "buy it now"...if your not, I'm not sure why you are reading but this would be a good DVD to start with and you will find you know more of these songs than you thought you did! I believe Hall and Oates officially passed Simon&Garfunkel as the most popular duo of all time many many years ago...and all I mention that for is to note they did have a serious string of hits!

It features GLIMPSES of her shows as well as a few complete comedy sketches and song-and-dance numbers therefrom, but its entertainment value has been tremendously diluted by its documentary format. Predictable interviews with show-business professionals are nice, but inessential. I'd substitute every minute of RAZZLE DAZZLE's interview footage and commentary with more TV clips concentrating solely on Mitzi's comic brilliance or her truly "razzle-dazzle" dancing. Mitzi's management apparently pushed for--but incredibly failed to obtain--a DVD box-set release of her complete TV specials as originally aired. The loss is large. This single-disc revue is wanting; it is most unsatisfactory--it offers individual tiles, but no complete mosaics. One star.』

(A great visit with a great star) 『This part-documentary/part-sheer entertainment is long overdue. Mitzi Gaynor has always been a favorite, with "The 'I Don't Care' Girl" being a revelation in my life and sense of dance-filled entertainment. Watching this DVD brought back many memories and pleasures. Including the people who collaborated in her very SPECIAL "Specials" adds to the pleasure: Bob Mackie, Tony Charmoli, Randy Doney and Alton Ruff. Masters all! Plus the great respect shown to other choreographers who helped create these movie musicals (and they were THAT) like Bob Sidney, Peter Gennaro and Danny Daniels in on-screen credits validates the credibility of the filmmakers. Mitzi's self-effacing humor and honesty are a revelation in these days of "stars of the moment" who are merely spouting what they were told to. She has the ability to move from "laugh-out-loud" to "from the heart" in an instant. I had forgotten how brilliant her pieces as "The Kid" are - showing other layers that the lady could tap into. The music, dancing, costumes, staging and performances remind me of what is missing from contemporary performances. Let's abandon the noise, the explosions, the in-your-face aggressive dancing and take a good look at what a very talented human can do. (Sometimes looking back is not only refreshing, it helps us see things we missed at the time) 『Mitzi Gaynor had the talent to be a big star in Hollywood. After her spectacular performance in "South Pacific" everyone expected greater things, but instead of being the breakthrough launching pad for superstardom, it ended up being the culmination of her career in film. Yes, she made a few more movies, but nothing that built her star power. Maybe it was the change in fashion and fewer musicals. I don't know. When you look at her ability to really dance, to really since, and she could actually act, well, how could she not become a superstar? And she did, but not in Hollywood, but in Las Vegas.
Her abilities to sing, dance, be funny, engage an audience, and her boundless energy were perfect for a long Vegas career. Then in 1967 she did an unlikely number, "Georgy Girl" on the 39th Academy Awards broadcast. It stopped the show. Someone realized they had to use this huge talent on TV and they gave her a special in 1968. When it was a hit, she got a second and then a third annual special. All in all, there were ten of these wonderful extravaganzas. Bob Mackie gave her perfect costumes to show off both her body and her movement and the numbers were all about showing off her strengths. For a decade people loved them.
The main part of this DVD is a series of cuts from those shows, commentary by Mitzi and her fellow stars, friends, and industry admirers. Well, a selection from that big universe. In the extras, you get Mitzi and Bob Mackie looking at the designs he made for her and talking about them, Mitzi talking about being on the Ed Sullivan show with the Beatles when she was a huge star and they were just becoming known and how wonderful they were. Two clips of Mitzi as "The Kid", a couple of full length comedy sketches from her specials and 8 full length dance numbers. These are not set up to be serious "art", they are about having fun. But the dancing and singing is top notch stuff.
It also appears that she is going to tour in 2009. I have no idea what it will be, but I am sure he fans will be quite delighted to see her and hear from her. If you don't know this great talent, which would blow almost anyone today off the boards, this disk is a great intro. And if you do know her, this disk is a great delight.

(A wonderful surprise!) 『"Ladies and gentlemen... Miss Mitzi Gaynor" and be prepared for a wonderful surprise, for this is one of the "must have" DVDs of the year.
The first time I saw Mitzi was on the movie version of SOUTH PACIFIC and I liked her Nellie Forbush. Later I had the pleasure of seeing her dancing with Gene Kelly in LES GIRLS and with Donald O'Connor in ANYTHING GOES and THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS. Unfortunately, I never saw any of her television specials and to be completely honest (please keep in mind that I live in Portugal) I didn't even knew of their existence. So, imagine my surprise when I put this DVD running and suddenly realized that there was much more to Mitzi than I knew from the movies.
Last year I discovered at YouTube a video of her energetic and funny 1967 Oscar appearance with "Georgy Girl" and I loved seeing it. Now, with this DVD, I have plenty more to see and I tell you that's all worthy. Mitzi was (still is) an amazing performer, able to sing, dance and act; with a gorgeous smile that conquers our hearts and make us want to be her friend.
This DVD takes a look at all her television specials (the first was in 1963 and the last in 1978), with plenty of material to keep us happy and it also includes interviews with people who worked with her, like Bob Mackie (the costume designer who did all of her fabulous costumes), and with fans like Kristine Chenoweth. But the best is the interviews with Mitzi herself who, at the age of 77, still looks great, with a terrific sense of humor and an energy that make us jealous. Personally, I think I could listen to her for hours without getting bored.
As for the musical numbers, they may look dated (it was the 60s and the 70s), but there's a joy to them that is contagious and made me wish that this kind of shows were still being produced. It's amazing the imagination and love that were behind all those numbers and I believe there were made by a happy group of people, who had a wonderful time doing them. Let's hope that one day the entire shows will be released on DVD.
There are some terrific special features included. In one of them Mitzi and Bob Mackie remember the amazing costumes she wore on those shows and share their memories with us. There are also several complete performances, including an hilarious movie parody, Mitzi's transformation into a Kid and some great musical numbers.
I guess that today's audiences may not be familiar with Mitzi, but I believe that with this joyful DVD a new era will begin for her and her dazzling talent will once again be recognized by many, if not all.

IPhone 3G used's review (Now we're cookin'...) 『Having started my adventures in home work-out videos with Richard Simmons' Sweatin' to the Oldies, I promptly picked up this third "aerobics concert" in the "Oldies" series. This tape is considerably more difficult (and longer, at about 50 minutes) than the first Sweatin' to the Oldies, but it is still well within the grasp of a very overweight beginner like me. Like the others, it will take the viewer a few runs through to begin to get the moves down, as Richard gives pretty minimal cues. This tape begins with an easy warm up tune, followed by two easy-paced numbers to stretch and warm up the upper and lower parts of the body. Then the dancing takes off with four up-tempo dance pieces. The intensity of your work-out very much depends on the energy you put into it, and the many exercisers (of all shapes and sizes!) demonstrate a broad range of effort with which you can experiment to find the level that suits your conditioning. A slower, cool-down dance follows, and the tape concludes with a stretching sequence. I personally don't care for this stretching routine, as I prefer slower, more sustained stretching than the rhythmic stretches Richard leads. As with all the Simmons exercise videos, you musn't miss the line-up after the stretching, when his exercisors are introduced and their weight-loss accomplishments shown. It's very encouraging and the people appear to be having an enormous amount of fun! I know I certainly do!』

Just like most of his videos, he always has the everyday kinda person in them, all shapes and sizes, and thats a big incouragement. This video I think out of all the sweatin to the oldies, is the best, it's very energetic and makes you really sweat, but yet you feel really good after the workout, not like most that make you feel exasted! Richard is just the best! I know he is helping me through a tough time with my weight and i'm slimmin down wonderfully! I quit worrying about catching on and following the exact moves. Mostly, I simply step, dance, trot, slow jog and pace to the terrific rhythms and songs I grew up with.
And yep, I'm sweating up a storm two thirds of the way through!
It's a joy to see "real" people working out with Richard. His silly antics and enthusiasm make me laugh and he doesn't constantly babble throughout nor does he promote his other videos like other instructors do.
I'll be 62 in 4 months. And of course, at my age, I have various health issues and injuries. However, that doesn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying dancing down memory lane in time to this terrific and motivating tape!』
(I always come back to this one) 『I'm actually just 22 yrs old, but I have struggled with my weight all of my life and everyday of it. My appreciation for Richard Simmons began when I was a young child. My mom loves him and when the original Sweatin to the oldies came about, she and her sisters passed it around. I always ended up "sweatin" along with my mom whenever she'd do it, but not to lose weight, just to have fun. Finally in junior high I began to realize I needed to make a serious change and I began doing Richard's tapes almost every night. Midway thru highschool, I had dropped almost 60 pounds and I credit him with a lot of my success. This specific video is tops. I don't like "Sweatin" 2 very much for whatever reason and the first one got old a long time ago, but somehow it stands that this one is a keeper for me. My favorite ditty is "I get around"...it's actually surprisingly vigorous for Richard! Because these videos aren't overloaded with tough moves, it's easier to do them daily, which to me is the healhiest idea. Light-moderate exercise each day until the weight comes off! GOOD LUCK!』
(this is the best workout) 『i bought this tape last summer and loved the music and the dance moves. After a year and 60 lbs lighter I thought I was too advanced to continuee to work with this tape. I was running 1/2 marathons and doing step aerobics. A friend at work wanted help getting started on working out so I gave him this tape he loves it and does it several times a week. Now that fall is almost upon us I have been feeling less motivated I miss my tape, so I just ordered another one for myself. This tape is great for days you dont want to work out because it starts out kind of slow but you end up sweating alot by the time your through. The music makes me feel good and the dance moves and Richard make me smile. I am always in a good mood after doing this tape. The cool down song is - All the Leaves are Brown and the Sky is Gray, I have always loved and can't think of a better song to end the tape with and cool down to. IPhone 3G used's review (The best Treasure Island movie ever made!) 『This is indeed the very best film version of Robert Louis Stevenson's definitive pirate adventure ever made. Christian Bale plays the young Jim Hawkins and Charlton Heston is Long John Silver, and both are excellent. Add Christopher Lee as Blind Pew and the rest of a terrific cast including Oliver Reed, Clive Wood, and Julian Glover among the many actors that bring the story to life. Filmed on location in Jamaica and on the awesome ship Hispaniola, the scenery and cinematography are marvelous.
And the soundtrack is performed by The Cheiftains! It is the best pirate soundtrack ever, adding great drama and realism to the proceedings, since the music seems so timely for the period.
Heston's Long John Silver is sensational, and his son Fraser's direction is action packed but not overbearing. My family has watched this movie at least 20 times, and we are wearing out our VHS tape. Please release this on DVD right away so I can buy multiple copies as gifts. 』

I resell a lot of the children's videos that I purchase on line, at private sales and from my own distributors, and this one literally flys off my auction site as soon as I list one. This is an out of print video, so its not very easy to find copies of same.Of course, as with most of Henson's videos, violence is not present, the majority of his videos are all feel good ones and they are absolutely great for the young children.』
(There's hope out there!!) 『Like everyone else, I've been searching for this show on DVD for YEARS! It was a favorite of mine when I was little. We had it on VHS, but sometime between me moving out and my brother, it got lost. As much as I loved this, I wasn't going to spend 200 bucks for it. However, I found a website that tracks down old, hard to find DVDs and sells them for an appropriate price. Lo and behold, they had a copy for $18 plus $4 shipping!! I bought it and just got it in the mail today and I've already watched it. It's a two disk set. The first disc is the remastered, yet chopped up version and the second disc was the original, televised broadcast! The quality wasn't the best in the world....you can tell it was recorded off of a beta or VHS, but it's still completely watchable if you don't mind the occasional glitches (hey, after 20+ years, my VHS was in worse shape than this). So there's hope out there! Here's the link....hopefully, they'll have more for all those out there still looking for a copy....

(Muppet Family Christmas Horror!) 『I like many others bought this anticipating not have to watch a VHS recorded TV copy anymore. To my disappointment, they edited out all the best parts, what a disgrace to Jim Henson!! I bought the DVD which is now collecting dust. I watch a worn out VHS tape that's twenty years old. I would rather sit through tracking problems and the tape skipping, than watch the "new" edited disgrace that was once my beloved Muppet Family Christmas. They should let people know that it's been edited. I enjoy watching my tape with Osh Kosh B-Osh, M&M's, Milk, and Extra Gum commercials. I rather sit through old commercials than watch this DVD that has disgraced the Jim Henson name!! For shame on whoever won't pay money to let the DVD be unedited! Don't they have enough money? Why do they have to mess with a legacy? They're all greedy jerks and I will continue watching my 20 year old VHS tape until the unedited version is out and I recommend this to everyone, DON'T BUY THIS!!!!』 『A warm Yuletide special,A Muppet Family Christmaspairs the Muppet gang with the perennial favoriteSesame Streetcast for a holiday celebration.
