(Great power yoga DVD!)
『Like some other reviewers already said, this one looks easier than it actually is! I still have only the VHS version and it's much loved to where I will soon have to get it on DVD!
I consider myself a fairly fit person; running and working out with weights, yet this tape always gets me sweating and working hard too!
I love all Yoga Zone workouts and I think you can't go wrong with any of them! :)』

(i love this DVD)
『I am a 40 y/o male in decent shape-completed my first triathlon this summer and work out with weights regularly. I bought this DVD some 2 years ago as my introduction to yoga and have continued to use weekly without disapointment. Even with the experience I have with the DVD some poses on side 2 remain a little outside my ability but I skip the most difficult and still end up with a 45 minute challenging routine, which is ok as I enjoy the challenge of improving. I think this DVD is great for people with a decent base, but maybe a little much for those with back problems or new to exercise. BTW I am a chiropractor by profession.

Dr. Jeff』

(Got me into the best shape of my life mentally and physically!)
『Be prepared for an easy to follow, but challenging work out! Let me tell you, it is harder than it looks! Think you are in shape? Try this workout and then tell me! I challenge you!』

(One of my favorites)
『I started doing yoga with the Yoga Zone "for beginners" series a couple of years ago. I definitely recommend that series for people new to yoga (particularly "Total Body Conditioning," also with Lisa Bennett), and I still use them sometimes on days when I'm too tired for a really challenging workout.

Now that I am more advanced, I was delighted to find that this MUCH more difficult Lisa Bennett video is out there. The way she arranges the postures into a flow is wonderful-- I find the time goes very quickly doing this video. When I first started, I could only do the first 35 minutes: the warm-up. Then I would collapse on the floor dripping sweat, and with my legs shaking. It is very difficult to spend ~18 minutes working just one leg, and at first you may hate it. But it's worth it-- it will really give you the results in your legs and thighs that you want to see. After just one workout, you feel a difference.

The poses Lisa proceeds to in the remainder of the session are also advanced. On a couple of them I still can't do even the modified version-- so I have to make up an even more modified version to build strength until I can get there. Even so, I look forward to doing it, and love the feeling that I will be able to do the whole thing soon.

My only beef with this practice is that the only specific ab work is one boat pose near the very end of the video. I assume that I am supposed to be getting abdominal strengthening by keeping my abdomen firm during poses, which I try to do, but this doesn't do enough to get rid of that (baby-related) stomach fat that is one of my main motivations for exercising in the first place. However, this isn't enough for me to reduce my number of stars on this one.』

(good workout with quality instruction)
『I read the bad reviews for this video and bought it anyway. Yes, she talks a lot, but most video instructors don't which leads to injury. If you are a practicing yogi looking for more than relaxation, this is a great choice. People who can't accept her talking are more the get-it-done type. Yoga is a process. No static positions. No crunches-til-you-die. Each position needs to be fully discovered and stretched. Her cueing allows that to happen.
Level wise.... it's very challenging. I'm a dancer and was constantly getting bored with the relaxation-focused videos that didn't do anything for stamina or strength. This definitely does. Chatter on, Lisa!』

『This variation on the popular power-yoga style, as is the unfortunate case with many yoga tapes, moves both into and through its program too quickly, with virtually no warm-up or introductory instruction (especially in breathing techniques) for the uninitiated. For that reason, among others, it is not recommended for newcomers. The more experienced, however, will certainly get the "challenging, athletic workout" the tape promises. Instructor Lisa Bennett is cheerful as she conducts a vigorous series of sun salutes, balancing poses, backbends, hip and abdominal poses, and such; you'll keep moving almost constantly, and if breaking a sweat is your goal, you can't go wrong here. The overall tone, however, is rather like an infomercial, which could become irritating over repeated viewings.--Sam Graham

(Yoga Basics for beginners)
『This movie is easy to follow for typically coordinated people. The moves are pretty basic and the instructor moves slow enough for you the audience to keep up.』

(Nice Workout but Doesn't Work Well on a DVD player)
『The DVD contains a nice yoga workout, but unfortunately doesn't work well in a regular dvd player. It works just fine on the dvd in my computer. I think this DVD was generated on the computer. So, if you intend to use it on your computer, it would be a great buy. But, if you want to use it on your regular DVD player, the video either doesn't work, skips, sticks, etc.』

(Well Worth Having in Your Yoga Library)
『The setting and execution of this video is a refreshing change from most of the others that I own. The warm up and poses are appealing and easy to follow. I was relieved that we weren't led into another seemingly endless round of sun salutations, and I appreciated the helpful hints given at the end. (I just wish that she would cut her hair. It gets in her way and makes me understand why ballerinas keep theirs in a bun or a pony tail or whatever.)』

(Relaxing and nicely paced, yet challenging)
『I was immediately intrigued with this video, as its warm-up features no sun salutations, opening instead with slow, dance-like movements for the arms, neck, spine, etc., and abdominal breathing exercises. Although I myself exercise on a regular basis and can do sun salutations with no problem, I felt more relaxed going into the main part of the workout as a result of her more gentle warm-up.

Her pacing seems right on-target, slow enough to feel the muscles working (i.e. long holds in Warrior 2, the Plank) and more relaxing than many fitness-type yoga videos I've tried, yet she doesn't spend so much time in a pose that you go beyond the benefit and start to feel uncomfortable. Lots of reminders to pay attention to the breath. I also like the attention she pays to low-back strength and flexibility, as this is an area which I need to work on. She's extremely knowledgeable with exercise and muscles, yet somehow explains in a way that is interesting without talking down to you.

The flow is excellent: relaxing, yet arranged in such a way that the time seems to fly by. I feel myself going on auto-pilot, where I just listen and let my body respond to her cues. Within a few viewings, I actually found myself able to perform most of the video without watching...her verbal cues are enough.

Her ending meditation is refreshingly devoid of new-age references or extraneous language. Instead, she helps you focus on your breathing and muscle relaxation, with subtle imagery to help you maintain your concentration.

I also liked the music, very unusual yet still appropriate for yoga. I love her selection for the ending meditation, sort of brings an"underwater"mood.

All in all, I think the"beginner/intermediate"describes this video well; she offers enough options to keep beginning practitioners comfortable, yet her choice of postures (and the length of time she dedicates to each) will ensure that more fitness-oriented and intermediate level practitioners will remain challenged. I would classify this video as one that hits four areas that are very important to me: muscle tone, low-back mobility, flexibilty, and of course stress reduction.』

『Have you ever watched a breathtaking sunset, and momentarily forgotten all of your stresses? Or hiked a peaceful forest, feeling light years away from life's hectic pace? Experiences such as these were part of the inspiration behind "Yoga in Nature," as host and creator Evamarie Pilipuf believes that connecting with nature is a simple and effective way to make yoga more pleasant and accessible. Designed both for newcomers and those with yoga experience, "Yoga Basics, Beginner/Intermediate" meanders from its workout location--a rustic, off-the-beaten-path lakeside—to several other interesting outdoor settings: a forested bluff, dune-laden beach, Midwestern prairie and even cypress swamp. Meanwhile, Evamarie's extensive areas of expertise are evident in her customized yoga routine, a carefully crafted set of yoga postures intended to strengthen and stretch a wide variety of muscles and cater to a broad range of abilities. In a 25-minute, post-workout program-! -a feature which sets this video apart from the typical workout video--Evamarie further explores key postures and techniques from the routine, answers frequently asked questions, addresses the confusing world of yoga equipment, and takes viewers on a virtual "mindfulness" nature walk. She also provides those seeking even more information with a collection of articles and photos at her company's website, treeoffitness.com.』

(Blissology Indeed)
『I'm a huge fan of Eoin's. Found him through iTunes and downloaded all his free yoga podcasts. Having come from the Shiva Rea school of vinyasa, I found Eoin similar in structure but very different in energy. He moves you faster through the flows, truly one breath, one movement which is the definition of vinyasa. His DVDs are far less stylized than Shiva Rea's. I find them far more human; all three of the people doing yoga in the video make adjustments to their poses and don't do everything perfectly.
Eoin has grown enormously, in my opinion, over the past 6 years as both a yogi and a teacher. From doing his style of yoga for just 4 months, I can do things like Galavasana now which I could only laughingly say, "someday" when I saw Shiva Rea doing it in Yoga Shakti.
I love that Eoin, when giving options to go into deeper variations of a pose, always says, "and ask yourself why," For me, this really helps me identify how my ego plays into my yoga practice and can work against me in my agenda to have the happiest, healthiest 48 year old body I can possibly have. It is vulnerable work to face one's ego and Eoin gives such a nonjudgmental way to enter that door.
I love when he says "we're going to get funky" with whatever the pose is. I know that it is definitely going to be challenging and yes: Funky.
The DVD set is one long flow, 85 minutes. All the shorter flows are seamlessly connected sections; some shortened, some omitted to satisfy either a time constraint or a particular area of the body to work on. This DVD offers a huge amount of shoulder work which I appreciate, as I work a computer/phone desk job. I'm not a surfer, and I am quite sure that you don't have to be a surfer to totally groove on the DVD.
Eoin is playful and kind and very detailed in his instruction. His wife and the other woman doing the poses in the DVD are fabulous yoginis and delightful to watch. Someone is always demonstrating an easier and a harder variation from the classic pose.
The scenery is gorgeous, the music not obtrusive but pleasant, the production is very good and I finish every encounter with this DVD literally blissed out with my heart open and happy.
Rock on, brother Eoin! May you be as blessed by the world as the world is blessed by you!』

(Exactly What I've Been Looking For)
『After taking yoga classes at college, I was desperate to find a video to keep it up at home and was frustrated by the sheer number of videos for each different style of yoga. I was extremely disappointed with most of the available dvds I could find; most were either too easy or too hokey.

This video is perfect; the routines flow, the scenery and music are soothing but not distracting, the cueing is good, and Eoin provides alternatives to modify the poses for various levels. Eoin also reminds you of proper body alignment to keep you from hurting yourself or straining anything. Even after just a couple of sessions my body feels looser and stronger and I feel more relaxed. I've tried others, but this video is just what I wanted.

The dvd includes strengthening and stretching for targeted areas- abs, shoulders, etc. as well as longer routines for more full-body work, and each routine is bordered by warm-up and sun salutations and a cool-down relaxation.

But a note- I wouldn't recommend this as an introduction to yoga. It is a more intermediate video, even though it is easy to follow, the poses are ones that can be tricky to get right the first time in subtle ways. It's a phenomenal follow-up to a class or a continuation of yoga.』

(Seemed "Un-yoga". I love fast flowing yoga but did not like this :-()
『I wanted so much to like this program, but I just didn't. And I actually felt more stressed out and not at all calm after finishing (I had to do one of my other 20 min stress relief programs to try to feel better, which has never happend to me before). I bought this DVD not because I was a surfer or athlete, but because the scenery appealed to me and his last DVD (Power Yoga for Happiness) got such great reviews.

I tried the 47 minute program, which exposed me to 6 of the chapters. It felt less like yoga than any program I've tried. The focus seemed to be more on calorie burning (which he actually said at one point) and working out (which yes you will get a work out) than on true yoga.

I generally like a fast paced yoga workout that doesn't focus a lot on meditation. I have other power yoga workouts from other instructors that I quite enjoy. But the complete lack of focus on the breath in this DVD, and on really getting in tune w/ your body, just did not produce an effective practice for me.

My gripes:

1. sun salutations were entirely too fast; I have done fast sun salutation flows but never this fast, and I actually had trouble keeping up (and I know the poses as he is saying them).

2. choppy flow at times due to the piecing together of different parts and the shortening of some sections. I actually got confused a couple of times.

3. I really did not see many modifications, which I would have appreciated (I consider myself intermediate level and did need some modifications for some of these poses)

4. strange flow - he would do a bunch of poses on one side, then move to the other side, rather than doing each pose on each side. While this does produce more calorie burn, this left me feeling very unbalanced. One leg would be totally fatigued, and the other wouldn't. By the time we got to the other leg, I felt off balance again.

5. the music was not conducive to relaxation. It was nice, for sure, but not really slow enough for yoga. A bit upbeat.

6. Eoin is very likeable, but his voice and instruction did not at all aid me in trying to get into the practice. I found it distracting.

7. Sometimes I'd look up at the TV and it would be sunset, other times bright, sometimes the camera was on all three, sometimes only one, sometimes they were doing a modification, sometimes they weren't - all in the same pose. It seemed strangely put together.

So that's my two cents.

I think this is a workout that you would love if:

1. you are an athlete looking to tone muscles and that's about it

2. you don't want any kind of internal focus in your yoga, just a hard workout

3. your main goal is to burn calories and nothing else.

4. you like upbeat more than calming

5. you are intermediate or advanced in your yoga abilities

I want to burn calories sometimes and this is where power yoga comes in for me. But I also want to feel good at the end regardless of whether I'm doing power yoga or a gentle vinyasa flow. I did not here. I can honestly say that I will probably never view this program again. :-( I would recommend instead some of Rodney Yee's power yoga programs (Stamina, Strength, Flexibility), or Suzanne Deason's Lower Body Yoga.』

(Great Yoga Workout)
『This is a super program. I have been using it for the last two months and can feel a difference in my surfing performance and my overall health. I recommend it to any surfer who wants to involve yoga in their training. The benefits of the yoga in this DVD will help your overall athleticism and I would venture to guess any sport you partake in.』

(Love it!)
『Love Eoin Finn style and this dvd really has different sequences than his other dvds as well as from other yogis. I have been doing yoga with dvd support for quite a few years now with different teachers, Eoin remains my favorite. Well done with the scenery and the numerous routine possibilities. More challenging than pure and simple yoga which I thought was an easy version of his previous work + it offered few possibilities. As good as his previous dvds with some novelties. Hope more will come with intermediate-advance level and more novelties. I think I will be as addicted to this dvd as I was to his fisrt two. Keep up the good work Eoin! You made me love power yoga.』
『Catch the yoga and surf wave with Vancouver-based yoga instructor / surfer Eoin Finn s sequel to his platinum-selling line of yoga DVDs, with Power Yoga for Happiness 2 the Surf Edition. With its focus on core strengthening, forward bending, shoulder openers, twists and hip openers, presented in seven routines of various lengths, this DVD will challenge, inspire and deepen your yoga practice. Though the routines offer significant cross-training benefits for surfers and athletes, the practices will help everyone from those who surf the Internet, to those who ride ocean waves. Free of dangerous contortions and following Eoin s All Levels, All Good format, there are cues for two or three levels for every pose so beginners can practice safely and more advanced practitioners can go deeper. The expansive beaches, rolling waves, brilliant clouds and sunsets of Costa Rica provide a natural backdrop, while the invocative original soundtrack of Brian Carson sets the stage for a transformative experience. Eoin believes that the goal of the physical (Hatha) yoga practice is ultimately to develop a positive outlook on the world and ultimately experience happiness. We believe you will find it through this DVD.』

(A little of everything, but not enough of it all)
『I have been practising yoga for several years, and purchased this DVD with the hope that I could combine the use of weights with the stretching and strengthing of yoga.

What I found was...yeah, okay.

While I found the premise of the use of weights a good one, and plan to continue using weights with my other tapes, I would hesitate to recommend this DVD on a few points.

First, if you have rotator cuff/shoulder problems, stay away. While the movements are all slow and steady, even a slight handweight would place undue strain on your shoulders, in particular if you are not too flexible in the upper body region. I have pretty strong and flexible arms, and by the end of the workout my shoulders were hurting (hurting:bad; sore:okay)Some of the standing positions are pretty much more for intermediate/advanced yogis, and there is very little in the way of alternate positions. Don't let the 'Core' thing fool you; this is an upperbody workout. There is very little in the way of core exercises outside of a modified Boat Pose, and the standing exercises seem to just exist so that you would not hit the floor with your weights.

On the plus side; it is close to an hour workout. By the end, I WAS sweating, though the movements were slow and therefore I was not out of breath. I used my heart rate monitor on this, and at least for me, it showed that I used close to 300 calories, have of them at the 'low target heartrate (fat-burning) rate. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I did not have a problem with the instructor's voice (but then again, I also don't find Brian Kest's irritating, either).

This is a good back-up tape for when you don't want to use your typical few favorites, but again, I would either do the exercises with little to no weights to save your shoulders, or use it to supplement a cardio or core workout.』

(Wow...First Time Doing Yoga and I love It!)
『I bought this video after reading everyone else's reviews. My main goal is to get lean and not bulk up my muscles. I have done everything from the Biggest Loser videos to Taebo and they all leave me feeling tired and sore. This video however excercises more muscles than Taebo and makes me feel so relaxed after it's done it's amazing!
The yoga poses really stretch your muscles and the added weights really challenge your strength. I think this exercise is the best I've done and I would highly recommend it for someone that want's to challenge all muscles and not feel exhuasted after it's done.』

(Not your "usual" yoga)
『I am not generally a fan of yoga, but recognize the benefits of core strengthening and flexibility. This DVD did not disappoint! While most yoga DVD's leave me either befuddled and confused about which foot and hand goes where, or in a fit of giggles over the sappy music and the seriousness in which the leaders seem to take themselves...this DVD was very clear and straight forward. I really appreciated the instructor's concise, to the point instructions...no flowery image inducing nonsense...but reminders to inhale and exhale with the movements. He also mentions specific muscles and targets where you should feel the movements so you know immediately if you are doing it correctly. There are also frequent reminders to keep your core muscles engaged. The balancing poses are challenging...but not impossible. And as other reviewers mentioned, there are 3 levels so you can increase or decrease the challenge as needed. I haven't even done the workout with weights yet...figuring that it would be better to work on correctly achieving the positions/movements...and it is still challenging. If you are looking for a more "traditional" trance-like yoga workout, you may want to look elsewhere. But if you want a challenging core body workout with the benefits of upper body toning, check this out!

(A good no-frills workout!)
『This is the first exercise video I found that I really like. I run, and needed something to work my upper body. So many of them are too cutesy and I generally find the perky instructors annoying rather than motivating. This is much more my speed - basic, straightforward and simply a good work out. I like that you can easily see the modifications with the beginner, intermediate and advance poses shown. Doing the different sequences keeps me varying my routine. It's also nice that I can just do one sequence on a day where I am pressed for time.』

(Not yoga)
『I bought this because I thought it would be challenging, but have only used it twice. It's just not fun and when I am looking for power yoga I will still go to my old standby Baron Baptiste. This instructor has no personality and is just not enjoyable to follow.』

(i hope to see more from him)
『awakening level is for the bums (like i used to be) who are willing to put forth an effort to begin a life-long journey of striving for the level of fitness that can be achieved through practice, practice, practice. anyone who is basically healthy and active (exercising at least three times a week) can do this (i was actually quite a bit unhealthy (ie. overweight) when i started practicing the full routine a year ago, and am now making the transition to "source power").

-the "martial arts" is all but un-noticable; yet i believe wong incorporates more of this in the source power dvd (kicks).
-i always feel like i need to stretch my neck when it's all said and done--and i do.

+as a massage therapist, i find the wrist work invaluable--and would recommend anyone with carpal tunnel to consider practicing it (with consulting your doctor).
+the "thai massage" (as little of it as there is) i have to give a plus--the shoulder work has proven itself phenomenal for me.
+you can easily add and advance poses in the routine as you gain strength and flexibility; i peeked at source power to see how i could advance more smoothly, as the outline is basically the same between the two dvds.
+after a year of practice, this workout has brought me a long way--all the way to a "seasoned beginner."

as for the pace...it was definitely fast when i started out; however, now that i have almost memorized the whole thing (heh), there are times when i'm thinking "keep up, duncan." i find that the pace, along with the core tension and breathing, push this into a cardio-workout realm.

*please watch the dvd before diving into it; the pace makes it difficult to listen to instructions when you're new to the sequence.
*please listen to instructions; where you place your weight can help your knees or hurt them.
*i recommend having at least read a basic yoga book which includes mechanics and a chapter on breathing techniques, or something equivalent--doing it properly greatly increases the benefits.

generally, i find this to be well structured/thought out, and a great foundation for advancement in my practice.』

(Great for this novice with joint issues)
『I've got a few health issues that limit the types of exercise I can perform while at the same time require me to be sure I stretch well on an almost daily basis. Given that, I'm so grateful to have stumbled upon this DVD.

When I've tried yoga in the past, too much strain was placed on my wrists and other joints. I like Pilates, but my neck takes a beating. Wong has ordered and styled his moves with such wisdom that I can follow them with ease (even though I'm a beginner) and, best of all, wake in the morning without groaning. I appreciate the Thai massage thrown in--it feels better than any massage I've ever paid for!

This video cannot replace cardio exercise, but it provides for a very thorough stretching that I can't seem to duplicate in any other way. I'm so very grateful that Yogic Arts exists!』

(Only a glimpse of what Duncan has to offer)
『The Good: A fresh perspective on yoga with some unique segments and alterations. Wrist therapy section was inventive. Subtle integration of yoga with martial arts and thai massage.

The Bad: Pacing is pretty fast. Only two segments are challenging for intermediates (EG: lots of downward kneeling dog, no downward facing dog). Sections are broken up a bit, disrupting the flow.

The Verdict: This is a fresh take on yoga, unlike anything else I've seen on the market right now. If nothing else, I'd encourage you to borrow this from the local library to see if it surprises you in the ways that yoga can be explored. I found the practice to be a refreshing eye-opener, albeit one that wasn't quite challenging enough. (See Yogic Arts-Source Power for a much fuller workout)

Full Review: As I explored yoga, I practiced along with a number of commercial DVDs. I quickly noted that most of the yoga practices on DVD (circa 2007) were very similar - with some minor tweaks in poses, pacing, and more noticeable differences in instructional style. I chose an instructor that I liked (Rodney Yee) and went with that. However, when I stumbled across Duncan Wong-I knew I had found something totally different than the rest.

Upon first reviewing the session, I noticed that the "style" of yoga was a bit different than a standard yoga class. For instance, Duncan demonstrates "pulsing" within some poses like the lunge or warrior 2, so that the practitioner can deepen the stance. The flow feels good, though fast at times. You'll be doing things with your hands and arms that you weren't asked to do during your normal yoga routine. Go with it, as it's all part of the experience.

As a whole, only two sections provided limited challenge. While the individual sections were paced well, the transitions between sections were stunted with a "black screen, then title screen" intruding on what was a fast, but enjoyable pace. Speaking of the fast pace, my body was screaming at Duncan... "SLOW DOWN!" It seems that while he employs gentle explosiveness with his movements, he also robs the practitioner of enjoying any depth within a pose. By the time you've hit one pose-your already moving onto the next... one of my least favorite features of this workout.

One thing to note is that while Duncan promises to integrate Thai Massage, Martial Arts, and Yoga-you'll really only see the integration subtly, though the overall practice is definitely quite unique. Yoga makes up the main staple - with martial arts and thai massage gently interwoven into the experience. You'll find interesting arm movements, as well as leg and finger stances that are drawn from the martial arts. You'll also see some subdued pressure point manipulation, and pose modification taking advantage of Thai massage.

If you've been practicing Yoga for any length of time, try out Duncan Wong's fresh ideas-I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.』

(Impeccable)
『I'm glad I purchased this DVD! I have been frustrated with ongoing debilitation from an upper arm injury with limited range of motion (from work? another DVD?). After I did this DVD today I am amazed and encouraged that for the first time in weeks my arm has more range of motion without pain. Could it be the Thai massage that Duncan has incorporated into the workout? Aside from my healing testimonial, I found the instruction easy to follow and the pace is good and this DVD is beautifully produced. Thank you for this production!』

(Sub-Par)
『This was interesting. I really wish it had a money back waranty or something. Well, I've done some yoga DVD's and the power yoga is a lot better. This yogic arts was dissapointing because I was really excited to get it. Then I did it and when it was over I was wondering when the workout was going to start. He has some relly weird hand things that he does that have nothing to do with yoga. I have been a martial artist for many years and thought this alleged blending of yoga and martial arts would be great. But it wasn't. Okay as far as details goes. He only holds a pose for a split second then moves to the next. Each series of poses lasts mabey 5 minutes then you go to the next segment. They are separat sections. So the two alternate routines are not actually alternate routines but just the main one cut up into two. The sections don't flow into each other, they just kinda stop and then open to a different one. At one point you fade out while on the floor then fade in and he is magically in the standing position. Thanks for the warning. I wouldn't recoment this to anyone unless you just need something different to spice it up for a week. Could have been really cool if he actually would have put some martial arts stuff in here like kicks or strikes or anything. Sorry but just not that great. Go get Power Yoga, that is fun!』

Yogic Arts blends science, spirit, and artcelebrating tenets of the ancient systems of Korean Buddhist Gung Fu, Ashtanga yoga, and Thai bodywork. Yogic Arts is high-intensity, flow-based yoga that focuses on core conditioning. It is yoga at its most athletic and artistic, with the power to transform you. Born and raised in northern California, Duncan Wong is a martial arts champion and talented massage therapist known as one of the worlds best yoga teachers. His instructional style emphasizes precise body alignment and energetic flow. This beginner to intermediate practice includes wrist and shoulder sections, warrior salutations, and hip openers. 『Duncan Wong'sYogic Arts - Awakening Levelis an interesting combination of styles that should intrigue and perhaps even enlighten many users. A lot of yoga and other exercise videos make lofty claims about what they'll do for you, and this is no exception. Boasting that it offers "the power to transform you," Wong's routine, which he variously describes as "a synthesis of yoga, martial arts, and massage" and "an alchemy of science, spirit, and art," may fall a little short of that promise; nevertheless, Wong is certainly on the money when he notes that "breath is the key," and the "Prana Prep" first step focuses on the importance ofpranayama, includingkapalabhati(the "breath of fire") andujjayi. Yet while Wong's directions are clear and precise, these are two reasonably advanced breathing techniques that no beginner can be expected to master without considerable repetition and perhaps more detailed instructions than are provided here; in general, newcomers should consider checking out all of these routines at least once before actually doing them. Elsewhere, the video's "Energy Practice" and "Gluteal Ground Work" sections incorporate a number of movements (kicks, thrusts, etc.) that will be familiar to martial arts practitioners, while other chapters contain many common yogaasanas, including downward- and upward-facing dog, warrior I and II (again incorporating some martial arts arm movements), hip openers, forward and backbends, lunges, stretches, extensions, and twists. Wong also includes sequences focusing primarily on the wrists and shoulders; he also spends a good deal of time stretching and flexing the toes and tops of the feet, two areas that don't get a lot of attention in most yoga workouts. Challenging but not especially rigorous, the DVD includes two 30-minute workouts drawn from elements of the hour-long main program.--Sam Graham

(Simply a good choice-)
『In the end, I'm glad I bought this mat. I looked at several different sites, including Gaiam itself. This was the most appealing of all products, and the best priced. The recyclable aspect of it makes me more excited about it, though it does have somewhat of a musty smell in the beginning. Also, realize that this particular product is thick for extra support.』

(Wonderful!!!)
『I love this mat. It has no smell, and it is very soft. It is great on carpet but I do have to put another mat underneath it on wood floors because it is thin.』

『Good size, much less odor than rubber mats, and great grip. However, if you have sensitive skin, the natural fibers of the mat can be very itchy and uncomfortable.』

(Best Advanced Yoga DVD)
『If you're looking for the 'real deal' you found it. Yogi Hari is amazing. He is over 60 something and his energy and presence are extremely srong.
There are great advanced postures in this DVD, and like all his others, it is so flowing. You work hard but its in one way just fun and the other so meditative.
As another reviwer stated, it does dedicate a good amt of time to breathing exercises, but I find it a plus. After you feel so relaxed yet energized.
In no way is this DVD lacking.
This is a great DVD, and recommend it to those practicing yoga already at a more intermediate level, and ready for the next step.
Have fun!』

(Truly advanced; contains pranayama and asana)
『If V. Scott had viewed the entire DVD before reviewing it, it would have been obvious that this 2-hour Sivananda routine is complete; it contains a full 90 minutes of advanced asana (postures) and is preceded by 30 minutes of pranayama (breathing exercises).

After the breath exercises, Yogi Hari takes you through standing postures, a lengthy inversion section, and a lot of seated poses and arm balances, followed by meditation. This DVD is truly advanced. It contains more advanced postures than any other yoga DVD I own (and I own well over 100) and many unusual postures as well. It is a DVD for serious and experienced practitioners. I think even intermediates would find it frustrating, and might want to check out one of his other DVDs.

Yogi Hari is amazing, and his instructions are clear and his demeanor very calming. If you have a solid practice and are looking for something intense and different, give this a try.』

(Not happy)
『I thought it was advanced poses. Instead it was some kind of breathing! It was a waste of my money.』
