Energi Music
Usually ships in 24 hours 『The Meditational Journeys series of music albums promotes relaxation and a feeling of positive calm.
Using the 'Chi' (the natural energy of the universe) definition of physical and spiritual wellbeing, Meditational Journeys music is based on yogic breathing cycles and is designed to promote health and relaxation. Meditational Journeys can be used by experienced meditation practitioners or beginners, or by non-practitioners who want an easy way to relax and de-stress. This music is also very beneficial for study and work - creating a positive and focused atmosphere that aids concentration and attention.
The music is created around specific time signatures and rhythms. These cyclic melodies follow the rhythm of yogic breathing patterns, mirroring the natural flow of human breath while in a deep meditative state. The basis of all Meditational Journeys music - and its ability to bring calm and peace to the listener - is its use of ethereal textures and tonal harmonies in synchronism with precise cyclic rhythms, giving it a transcendental mantra-like quality.
Seascape - A Meditational Journeytakes the ocean as its theme, using the sounds of waves and the seashore, so often associated with peace and tranquility.
Inspired by spending time in very special places by the sea, in different seasons around the world, the carefully written and recorded music reflects the many moods of the ocean. Soft watery sound effects - a seaside harmony of water, wind and seabirds - are subtly mixed with instruments such as resonating bowed glass bowls and gently soaring guitar, to create effortless and positive melodic themes.
The soundscapes depict an idyllic retreat, giving an overall effect of floating. Mesmeric cycling rhythms in harmony with yogic breathing cycles take the listener to ever-increasing levels of deep relaxation and renewal.
Seascape - A Meditational Journeyis designed to be used for relaxation, meditation, reiki, massage, spa, tai chi, yoga, and other spiritual, peaceful and restful activities. It is used at the meditation center at Grace Cottage Retreat in Dharamsala in the Himalayan Mountains of India, Lake Arrowhead Resort&Spa, and at the Samata Yoga Center Los Angeles, as well as by many alternative health practitioners.』

IPhone 3G used's review (Outstanding - Stop Whining and get a clue) 『Do you ever get the feeling that some people will never "get" yoga no matter how many different ways they come at it? I read these reviews and had to comment. I think that if you are doing the tapes, Mark's voice did not impact my two years of using this tape whatsoever. My body changed by using his first three tapes and my wife and I really love them. His next series, Progressive Power Yoga gets it even better, but these first tapes are still an outstanding workout. Mark kicks your butt and makes you like it. It is fun, intense, centering and my stress is way down. I suggest you don't take my word for it, don't take the other reviewer's word for it, make up your mind for yourself. Mark jokes about buying people a gym membership if they do not believe his workout does more for their body than the gym... I wonder if he ever had to make good on that challenge? We had stopped doing yoga for a few months and when I saw him ranked number one in Fitness magazine, I went to Amazon to see if I could replace a few worn out tapes. Read the reviews and had to add a few of my own. I think if you are even remotely adventurous, you should try this guy. He is the best workout my wife and I have ever done!!!』
(I've had better Experiences..) 『Mark Blanchard is incredibly flexible and strong, and watching him do some positions can be motivating. His voice, however, is not. I can tune out irritations and get past most things, but I found I couldn't get past his voice and emotion. Yoga is a sport best taught in a moderate, soothing, even-toned voice to not interrupt your concentration and meditation. I wished that I could turn off the sound and just follow the tape, but then I wouldn't have had a flowing workout. I have concerns with the opening warm up as it is too strenuous for the average person's lower back and as a devotee to health and fitness, is not a move I would recommend. The repetition of it is likely to strain people's backs and cause injury. Once you get past that, the rest of the tape is a good workout and when you get to the Sun Salute flow, you will be tested and your muscles will scream. I would recommend looking for tapes with Rodney Yee or by Yoga Zone before this one.』
(Demonstrative - not instructional. Not for serious seekers.) 『I've had this video now for over three months and upon my further investigation of what true, authentic yoga is, this video exemplifies what it is not. The video IS demonstrative, not instructional. You really need an instructor to do this practice with effectiveness and wisdom. It is not for beginners.
Yes, (ashtanga/power) yoga will make you fit, but its more subtle than that. It's an internal practice, and being fit is a by-product. It's not about how you should look like; it's about getting in touch with your authentic self. This power yoga video is just one of the many examples of the current over-emphasis of the physicality of yoga.
The practice is a process of becoming sensitized to your body as well as being strengthened, in body, mind, and spirit. But it's hard to reach that centred, meditative, focused state when Mark Blanchard is talking, and subjectively speaking, he just seems to talk too much at times. He doesn't help facilitate the inner quiet and focused intensity one aims for in a practice (in this video anyway). There's even a point when he yells"HOW FAR CAN YOU TAKE IT!?!?!". If I heard my instructor say something like that, I'd want my money back. When you're in a particularly challenging or intense asana, the last thing you want to hear is someone yelling at you. You want a calm, balanced voice like Rodney Yee, Baron Baptiste, Patricia Walden, John Scott, or David Swenson. You want quiet in order to focus and listen to your body.
Four important principles particular to power or ashtanga yoga that are completely left out in the video are Ujjayi Pranayama (correct breathing), bhandas (internal body locks), dristes (gazing point), and vinyasa (the linking of asanas, or postures). It's important to know them if you want the real thing.
In addition, if you're interested in authentic Ashtanga yoga, which is where power yoga is derived from, be sure that the instructor has studied under Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, who is the contemporary source of it all, for example David Swenson's books or videos, or John Scott's new DVD. Another highly recommended instructor is Erich Schiffman, author of Yoga: The Spirit&Practice of Moving into Stillness. There is a depth to their teachings that I don't see in Mark Blanchard's instruction, even though he apparently studied under K. Pattabhi Jois in the past.
Practice with this video often and you'll be listening more to Mark Blanchard than to your own body.』
(Amazing!!!!!) 『Well, all I can say is that this is TRUE power yoga. For those of you who are so critical of Mark's voice, if you were really doing this video, you wouldn't notice his voice. You'd be in the "Yoga Zone." I've been practicing yoga for 2 years and power yoga for one year. I have many power yoga videos and this one is truly power yoga. The results I have seen are amazing. It builds strength and stamina in a short time and you see the changes in your body fairly quickly. I used to work out with weights and do aerobics. You don't need any of that if you practice with this video. You are dripping sweat and working and stretching every part of your body. When you are done a sense of calmness comes over you that you could never get at the gym.
If you've been practicing yoga for a while, try this video.』
(There is power to be had in power yoga) 『I you have been reading some of the other reviews I found the overall criticisms of Mark Blanchard to be exaggerated. His voice is not annoying. He is a very adept Yoga practioner and his is clear to state the fundamental reason for yoga is to better understand and become intune with your own body. The added benefit of yoga is a killer body. I do want to say that this is not the traditional practice of what is known as the more athletic yoga, Ashtanga. I do practice Ashtanga and while he takes some poses from the discipline, most are not. However, the workout is great, you will sweat and you will be sore. This tape is difficult for those new to any yoga practice but not impossible. Like anything new, time is needed to adjust. I also found it interesting that while doing a stretch in the video, he left the scene of him falling out of the pose. This is to emphasize that though he has been practicing for many years, he is still growing and the newcomer should not feel daunted by the practice if they cannot do every move. My boyfriend and I enjoy his tape and feel limber and rejuvenated after viewing it.』
IPhone 3G used's review (Not what I expected-- but very good!) 『To me, the title "Yoga Basics for Beginers" indicates a methodical lesson, during which tons of poses are introduced and explained. What I got was 20 beginers workout, with some explinations thrown in. I like what I got. The first session is taught by Michelle and demonstrated Al Bingham, reversed in the second session. Al is a far superior instructor. Michelle doesn't do a great job of explaining poses. Overall, the second workout is better, and I'd recomend starting with it because its poses "flow" more logically. And because we all love lists, I've decided to tell you what I thought was good and bad about this (my very first) yoga DVD and let you decide.
GOOD -Al is my fave yogazone instructor -Lovely settings -Hard for a novice at first, but you'll get through it on try 5 and you'll feel accomplished -Can do 20 minute workouts seperately or together -Will introduce you to yoga
BAD -First downward dog in second session is too long -Sometimes they have you do the poses without giving the name -Both sessions are relatively similar; if they weren't, we could have been introduced to more poses.』
(Only for the very beginners) 『I've done yoga a few times in classes, but I'm fairly inflexible and don't consider myself an expert by any means. I was looking for a DVD that would give some simple poses to do and could help me relax. Well, this DVD oversimplified it. If you've never done yoga before, this might be a good place to start, otherwise, your money is better spent elsewhere. There was no flow between poses, and each one was held for a very long time as one of the instructors explained it. I had a strong dislike for both instructors by the end of the first segment. The production value of this DVD was also pretty poor. It seemed slightly out of focus for the first segment. The instructor would talk almost constantly, and would sometimes look right at the camera, but not always at the right camera. The music was barely audible and really didn't add anything. Leaves fell through the shot. People walked through the background. I was unable to find a sense of focus and relaxation because of all this.
Overall, this DVD might give good instruction to someone who had never done yoga before and wanted to learn about a few poses. If you've done some yoga before, no matter how little, I would advise to skip this DVD.』
(good, but an absolute beginner shouldn't start with this one) 『I've done yoga off and on for a little over a year. I don't consider myself advanced by any means and I know I'm very weak in the upper body, overweight, and not very flexible. However, with yoga and walking I have improved a lot. I love yogazone's programs, and really enjoy most of the dvds with 2 20 minute workouts on them like this one. But, I feel a beginner beginner, esp to exercise, should start with one that's more instructional, like in the other series yoga zone puts out...I didn't start with the beginner one with the yellow cover, but did flexibility and tone and while it's hard, the instruction was there. the main problem I had with 'basics' being a beginner workout is the amount of time spent in downdog. it's a lot! If I had to recommend a 20 minute yoga zone for an absolute beginner, I would suggest total body conditioning, esp the 1st workout, because she goes fairly slow and explains enough to do the pose and does a nice variety of standing and seated poses..and no downward facing dog! I also love stretching for flexibility 1st part(sheholds down dog a long time but is very encouraging and a nice stretch espif you're already warmed up) and strong and healthy back is nice too,esp the 2nd program..the 1st has a lot of twists and is also nice but requres a lot more flexibility imo!』
(Great Great Great) 『Perfect! Do I need to say anything else?
The timing is great--20 minutes for each program. Wonderful for beginners--I'm pretty much brand new to yoga, but I can still tell a HUGE difference in my body. This one is a must if you are looking for something to get you into yoga.』
(YAWN!!! Is it over yet????) 『I bought this video after reading an article about yoga. As a beginner, this video was just too boring for me. Instead, I highly recommend Bryan Kest Power Yoga Box Set.』
IPhone 3G used's review (A nice short yoga routine for stretching and strength) 『In Power Beauty Sweat, instructor Sara Ivanhoe does not rely on a traditional series of sun salutations to build heat in the body; rather, she adds movement to standing postures to intensify. She begins in a seated position with a simple side stretch and twist, then moves to kneeling for a kneeling side stretch (gate pose) and side plank. From here, the practice evolves to standing postures, including fan pose, a standing twist, and chair--each pose is repeated with movement and then a twist to both sides. Balance work comes in the form of eagle pose, and then there is a series consisting of dog pose, lunge, runner's stretch, and cow (or bull) performed to both sides. Dolphin pose further strengthens the arm muscles, and finally, there is a lying hamstring stretch. As with all the practices in this series, Ivanhoe ends with a mudra--or yogic hand gesture--using a detoxification mudra here.
Despite the title, I felt only minimal sweat as a result of this practice; it definitely did not build as much heat as a power yoga routine. However, the large number of included twists felt wonderful for my spine, and the excellent hip openers felt great as well. Overall, this is a nice, short yoga routine for focusing on standing postures and streching the spine and hips.』 『When we sweat, it is a sign that our body is getting rid of unwanted toxins and fat cells- that calories are literally being burned. This is no ordinary sun salutation flow. Instead, it is a totally innovative program of arm balances, core strengthening and twisting postures that will aid in digestion and detoxification of the body. The end result - that radiant glow that we all want!』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (One of the best DVD's for those new to yoga) 『I can't say enough how much I enjoy the Yoga Zone dvd's taught by Alan Finger. This is a slow paced practice that gives you an excellent foundation and helps you really understand proper alignment. Unlike some "beginner" dvd's, the average person who has never done a yoga pose in their life can do this dvd because of the very precise and detailed instruction.
Using this DVD as a foundation to beginning my yoga practice has allowed me to do so many other yoga dvd's that are great workouts but perhaps lacking a bit in the instructional side. Alan Finger is very motivating and guides you through the best relaxations at the end. I find that although he talks through them nearly the entire time, I can actually relax better into them than in other dvd's shavasana's where my mind tends to wander.
I highly recommend this DVD. If you are just starting your practice you can't go wrong by starting out here!
』
(Really great yoga video) 『I've been a yoga teacher for almost 15 years and this is the best yoga video for beginners I've ever seen. I stumbled on it while researching yoga videos for seniors as I am looking to buy a video for my 92 year old grandmother who just started doing yoga, but this video is great for all ages (including her!). Alan Finger explains the poses clearly and goes at a gentle pace, making it accessible for beginners yet even more experienced yogis as myself will still learn from it and enjoy the practice. Unlike many other videos I've seen which either rush at a hectic pace or bore us with endless talking and no movement, this video flows nicely allowing participants to feel confident in knowing they are doing the poses safely and correctly while getting a great yoga class filled with a variety of poses and stretches. Once you are comfortable with this video I recommend trying Yoga Journal's Intro to Yoga series, which is a little more advanced. Between the two, you don't need any other videos.』
(A yoga teacher's perspective) 『This is an excellent program.
Allan Fingers offers very detailed and precise instructions each time I listen to it, I get additional hints and tips.
The program is rather quick paced and ends with an excellent guided relaxation.
After following the video several times and learning the sequence I prefer to do it without the DVD and take long time in the positions.
An amusing aspect of the video is that Allan Finger chose some extraordinarily sexy looking models, "senior yoga instructors", and the camera-person is at times dwelling on the sexy aspects of these "senior instructors" just a tad too long... Due to this, some of my women friends found the video offensive (perhaps they felt intimidated by these young and sexy as the models).
I highly recommend this program, it does not require any previous knowledge of yoga positions while at the same time, ever very advanced practitioners loved it.
』
(Already seen this) 『The workout itself isn't bad, per se, but it feels incomplete. It is the exact same workout as Flexibility and Tone. Exactly. There is one extra stretch position and the order of the movements is switched around once or twice, but other than that it's the same. Alan Finger even says some of the same lines. (I suppose that's inevitable, after doing dozens of shows and videos). In fact, Flexibility and Tone feels more 'thorough'. That workout leaves you feeling like you really did something, whereas this one leaves you feeling unchallenged and wondering if you just wasted an hour. I'm glad this is really inexpensive these days. Get Flexibility and Tone...and if you already have that one and are determined to get a new Yoga video, don't get this one.』
(harder than expected) 『I got my yoga dvd today and sat down to view it. I have not done yoga before so need something for beginners. after watching it I have a hard time believing this is a beginners tape. it is long and hard. it will take me forever to get this learned. if you are a beginner I suggest you keep looking.』 『"Go at your own pace, don't strain!" Alan Finger reminds viewers in the introduction to this Yoga Zone workout. They're words of wisdom for anyone who's ever tried (and failed) to emulate the moves of some perfect-looking human pretzel on what purports to be a "beginners" videotape. In contrast, Finger's gentle, refreshingly detailedIntroduction to Yogabegins with basic breathing techniques and moves on to some of the most fundamental poses in any practice, including lunges, twists, cobra, dog, triangle, and even a corpse pose tutorial that comes complete with guided relaxation. (Later tapes in this series build on the asanas taught here, adding more advanced variations and positions.) Two instructors demonstrate different versions of each pose, one for more flexible advanced students and one for less flexible beginners. We even get to see one student topple out of stork pose! Calm, thorough, absolutely unrushed, this is a great tape for those who've never taken a yoga class in their lives. Even experienced students, however, may find that the relaxed pace helps them reach a deeper level of understanding of how body, mind, and breath can work together. Fittingly, the credits roll over Finger and his fellow instructors demonstrating advanced positions of impressive strength and beauty; like the tape itself, it's a perfect introduction to the continuing rewards of yoga practice.--Mary Park』

(Strong video but a few minor flaws) 『I really enjoyed this DVD. It has a nice slow flow to it and does allow you time to adjust to a pose or work your way into a fairly difficult pose. I think this is a solid intermediate level DVD, there are some challenging poses in the way of back bends and balance poses, but for the most part the DVD is doable. My problems with this DVD was the occasional lighting where all you could see would be shadows (but I think that was to highlight the ocean scenery) and another sequence would have been good as well (either a shorter one of maybe 30-40 minutes or a longer one of 90 minutes or so). Otherwise, this is a nice DVD, the instructor was really good, and look forward to more of her DVDs. Overall this is DVD is more like 4.5 stars.』
(Pretty good...) 『The content is pretty good but the picture quality can be pretty bad at times. A lot of the shots are dark, so you can't really see what they are doing. You see shadows of the people and a beautiful background of the beach.』
(Great intermediate practice tool) 『I have been practicing yoga for a while and although I still use and enjoy my beginner to intermediate videos, I needed to add a little more challenge to my practice. This Vinyasa Flow Yoga video is just about perfect for the intermediate level.
The video is broken up into asanas, any of which you can easily skip if you don't want to/don't have time to/don't feel comfortable. All you do is push the "skip/next scene" button on your DVD remote and you are immediately taken to the next asana. I really like this feature.
Also, there are three different types of music you can pick to listen to as the background for the DVD. I think this is a great feature because the music really does build, ebb, and flow in keeping with the asanas. The music helps you stay at the right energy level.
There is also an option to turn the instructor's voice off and have a timing sort of "metronome" to remind you of when to switch poses, etc. I haven't used this yet, but I'm sure I will after a while, as I start to memorize and become tired of hearing all the instructions over and over :)
In the balancing asanas, towards the end, there are some pretty advanced poses. I am one of those people who looks at the yoga girls on screen and thinks "if they can do it then I can do it!" and therefore I have definitely been challenged to perfect (or, in one case, even PERFORM) a few of the advanced poses. But I did buy this video hoping for a challenge, so I am glad there are things on the DVD that I can't already do. It gives me something to work toward. I'd say 90% of the asanas are intermediate and I had no problem with them, and then 10% are advanced and I have varying levels of difficulty with the poses.
The only real negative thing I can think of is that the DVD only has one lesson on it. Lots of yoga videos have several different lessons you can choose from (arms focus, legs focus, full body flow, etc). This DVD has ONE LESSON, and that's it. So if you're looking for a more diverse practice tool, this is probably not your best pick.
All said, I enjoy this DVD quite a bit, and am very happy that I have added it to my collection. From being able to skip through asanas and make the practice length fit with my schedule, to picking my own music, to having challenging poses to work towards, it has been a good fit all around. 』
(Peaceful yet challenging) 『This is one of my favourite yoga DVDs because it offers enough challenges through a flow that also encourages the practitioner to turn his or her spirit inward. Pedersen's voice is firm yet soft, and this perhaps best describes her routine, which also distinguishes itself in the two following ways. First, she begins the DVD with a warmup flow that is not a sun salutation. This is a nice variation from other routines. Second, although most poses are traditional, a few stray from the beaten path and thus provide a fresh approach to one's practice. Finally, the cinematography underscores the stunning beauty of the beach backdrop.』 『Ignite your life force and purify your body through the union of breath and movement. Christina Pedersen offers you a unique and complete yoga practice designed to strengthen, tone and detoxify the body while reconnecting with your breath and calming your mind. Christina is a Kripalu certified yoga instructor who has been practicing yoga since 1996. She is strongly influenced by the Iyengar, Ashtanga and Kripalu traditions and has interwoven aspects of these into this Vinyasa Flow practice. Christina believes that finding and maintaining a deep, full breath is the secret in attaining a fulfilling yoga practice and a truly peaceful state of being.
This Vinyasa Flow DVD is ideal for those seeking an invigorating home yoga practice. The practice begins with deep breathing and centering, followed by warm-up stretches and the asana series. Christina concludes with a restorative, relaxing guided meditation and Savasana. The unique combination of pranyama (breathing), asana (physical postures) and relaxation will leave you feeling calm, yet energized.
"I hope that this yoga DVD will add an exciting dimension to your home yoga practice. It is an offering of yoga from my heart to yours, and may it be one small piece of your self-discovery puzzle... Namaste!" ~ Christina Pedersen, RYT., San Diego Ca., Feb, 2008

Sounds True Direct
Usually ships in 1 to 2 months IPhone 3G used's review (Great concept; advanced choreography) 『I am an experienced yoga practitioner. As a Catholic myself, I thoroughly enjoyed Fr. Ryan's introduction and the pairing of his vinyasas with the wonderful liturgical music of my youth (i.e. St. Louis Jesuits from 1970's). The settings for each Yoga Prayer are quite serene, if not at times austere.
However, I honestly feel that music with lyrics can be distracting when I try to practice, plus his choreography is not for beginners as it moves rather quickly.
The intrinsic value in this dvd is to allow Christians (and other people of faith) to open their minds and hearts to the notion of using their bodies to glorify God each day through both fitness and relaxation. It is a beautiful, healthful, peaceful concept that I hope more people will come to experience in some way.』
(Choreography is anointed!) 『This DVD is one of my favorite yoga workouts! It's a quick (32 minute, I think) workout that incorporates all the movements of the spine. The music is indeed "soul-stirring"! I usually do this workout in the mornings or when I want a shorter practice. It gets my body limber and ready for the day, and gets my heart in the right place, too--aware of God and His great goodness to me. I love the way Father Ryan has choreographed the poses to flow with the words and feel of the music. This meaningful and well-timed choreography makes the sequences easy to learn so that you don't have to keep eyeing the TV. (I've even bought all the songs and put a playlist on my ipod so that I can do this workout while traveling or away from the TV.) I love doing the warrior poses to the song, "The Peace Prayer," and kneeling poses to "Blest Are They,"--a song about the Beatitudes. The workout on this DVD offers a beautiful and holistic experience for a Christian practicing yoga. It also includes an excellent teaching from Father Ryan on why a Christ-centered yoga practice is a "good fit" for Christians.』
(Such a lift!) 『I still haven't done this whole DVD, because I just recently received it. But, I tell you, this is a beautiful and uplifting experience.
I love that Fr. Thomas Ryan is visible in the Catholic community, showing us that it is right and good to care for and pray with our bodies, so that we may be whole beings in communion with our Lord.
I also strongly recommend the book, Reclaiming the Body in Christian Spirituality.
I can't wait to read his other work and, hopefully, make it to a Paulist retreat! 』 『As many as half of Americas estimated 15 million yoga practitioners come from a Christian background. On Yoga Prayer: An Embodied Christian Spiritual Practice, Catholic priest and yoga instructor Thomas Ryan shows viewers that Christians can use yoga to experience their own faith more deeply and express it holistically. Ryan seamlessly harmonizes prayers like Psalm 84, the Peace Prayer of Saint Francis, and the Beatitudes with vitalizing yoga postures to create a uniquely powerful spiritual practice. If you have never experienced the physicality of prayer, Ryan promises, a fresh experience awaits you. Produced by Paulist Productions.
