IPhone 3G used's review (very fun and hip) 『Our daughter loves this DVD. The poses are challenging enough that at 3 she can't do them all yet, but she still likes to dress up like the people in the show. The running time isn't too long, but neither is her attention span. Not sure why they have break dancing in the middle, but she likes that too and copies the dancing. Would love to see more yoga DVDs from "Lil Chi and Wasabi."』
(My kids love it.) 『My children love this video. My only problem with this DVD is it should be longer. I believe the other reviewer did not like the DVD's hippie dippie tone but my kids and their friends enjoyed using this DVD.』
(Horrible do not purchase) 『I recently purchased this DVD huge mistake. Not only are the characters annoying and often seem under the influence of drugs, there is also very little in the way of actual yoga. To make it even worse the packaging states the Approx. running time of the DVD is 35 minutes but it actually only lasts about 15 minutes. Terrible, Terrible, terrible, sums it all up!』
IPhone 3G used's review (Not for actual beginners!) 『Introduction for beginners?! It would have been nice if they took the time to demonstrate the poses and postures first before jumping right into the routine. I don't think this is a good DVD for beginners. They don't actually show you how to do anything! Basically you watch them show off their experience without explanation. I wanted to learn the proper way TO DO the postures. I wanted to be able to relax and enjoy this, but instead I hurt my neck from craning to see poses that were never fully explained. It is not a good DVD for beginners who actually want to "learn." The guy rambles about breathing technique, mixing in Yoga postures, doesn't explain anything, and basically... they filmed themselves doing Yoga. It isn't teaching if you don't actually teach! It isn't instruction if you don't instruct! It isn't for beginners if you don't take the time to show a beginner how to do a pose and posture properly! Actually I think this DVD is unsafe! You could injure yourself doing some of these poses without "proper" instruction. I am sure a lot of "real" people will walk away with a pulled muscle.』
(Nice introduction to power yoga....) 『This is another Yoga Zone DVD divided into 2-20 minute segments, this time introducing us to the world of power yoga. It is a nice program. Al Bingham leads the first segment, he is joined by Jen Monness. They are once again at the Grand Lidos San Souci resort where many of the Yoga Zone shows are filmed.
You start off in mountain pose and do a sun salutation lifting arms up and out while diving into a forward bend, this is repeated a few times, nice beginning to the program. You then will go into plank pose and link with downward facing dog, this is also repeated a few times. Next is warrior 1 with a nice flowing in and out of the pose, then you will go back into plank and downward facing dog but this time go into warrior 2 then into right angle pose. Then you go back into warrior 1 with a different variation before moving into chair pose. Once in chair you will move into a forward bend, then lengthen the spine while putting your hands on your shins. More planks follow, but this time you will lower into chataranga. The balance of this segment is done on the floor, seated forward bends, cross legged seat into plank, reverse plank, kneeling spinal twist, camel pose, side lean before finishing in a cross legged seat.
Segment 2 is led by Lisa Bennett, again joining her is Jen Monness. You will start by lying on your back, moving your arms above head while bringing your knees into your chest, first alternating knees, then both. Then you will do moving bridge pose, and a lying spinal twist with your knees to one side then the other. Next you will move into a combination of cat and seal pose, followed by a brief sun salutation in which you rise up onto your knees, then shins while lifting arms overhead. Then you will move into downward facing dog, Lisa will have your bend and straighten your knees while in this pose, then you will notice that you can go a little further into it, I particularly liked how she did that. You will stretch out in seal pose before doing a brief vinyasa combining cat pose with downward facing dog and seal pose. Following this is a really nice spinal twist done while on your knees. The last half of this segment is done standing, at this point a bird shrieks rather loud which is a bit distracting. You will start in mountain pose then move into blown palm which is basically a side lean in standing position. Then you dive down into a forward bend before moving into lunge pose (high or low) while extending arms up and down. A combination of plank pose and downward facing dog follows before repeating the lunge series on the other side only this time you will bend forward while extending the arms up and down. Then you will go into lunge again, this time while lifting arms up and down you will also lower up and down which provides a little extra challenge and balance. Before repeating this on the other side you will do another set of planks/downward facing dog. This segment concludes with a cross legged seat into a spinal stretch, seated forward bend and final meditation/relaxation pose.
This program is geared toward beginners, but beginners that are a little familiar with yoga, complete beginners should look for a different program with a more instruction. This program would be suitable for intermediates as well, advanced people will find this too easy. I thought both instructors did a decent job overall and this is a good place to start for those interested in power yoga.』
(a powerful beginning) 『Yoga Zone: Introduction to Power Yoga
Al Bingham leads the first part, followed, again, by Jen Moness. This segment has not neglected its underlying pedagogical focus. He offers the inspiring notion that the 'power' of power yoga comes from within. This sequence builds the ideas and the postures already presented, but it is faster and uses more repetitions. The second part, led by Lisa Bennett, wraps up the series, gently returning to the vital link between movement and breath.
Al's lineup of postures includes a review of the old, and some new additions. Among the highlights, in my opinion, lies his approach to the classic shift between downward dog and plank pose. He models this flow, explains it, and leaves it. This dynamic set of moves is present in almost every yoga program I have seen, and never once, except for now, has the technique been adequately explained. He and Jen flow into and out of warrior I and warrior II, and do a knee strengthening chair pose, and forward bends.
He reiterates the focus of the program, this time stating that the ''power'' in power-yoga is being aware of what the body is doing. They do three reps of shifting between downward dog and plank, and return to demonstrating the correct postural alignment in these fundamental positions. Continuing from the earlier programs, he and Jen also return to seated bends and spinal alignment-postures, such as a modified push-up.
Lisa returns to lead the last twenty minutes of the series. She brings Jen with her. Her routine is slow but effective, and conscientiously revisits the goals presented at the beginning, to find a balance between resistance and serenity.
She and Jen fluidly move between double leg extensions, a hamstring stretch, and the dynamic bridge. They return to the bent leg supine twist, of the first program. However, instead of using this lying twist as a relaxing posture, they do several repetitions, turning it into a dynamic one. They also do several sequences to build flexibility in the spine. As in earlier programs, they use the effective stretching and folding of the thunderbolt posture, and add the (dynamic) cat. Lisa reviews downward dog, but emphasizes the extension of the spine without neglecting the positioning of the back of the legs. They also return to the lone palm, plank, warrior, and standing forward bends.
She and Jen conclude the program sitting in a cross-legged position. They take a moment to remember that link between the breath, the mind and the body, that Lisa claims, is secret to health and clarity. It is like, as she states in the end, ''washing your consciousness.'' 』
(Excellent intro for wimps like me...) 『I've been doing Kripalu yoga for over a year (and did Hatha years ago) and have been curious about this new"power yoga"craze. I trust Yoga Zone for good instruction, so I asked for this DVD as a Christmas present. I was very pleased, both by the way the disk is segmented -- two sessions -- and by the level and pace. If you've been wanting to try power yoga, but are afraid or not very athletic, I'd definitely try this one.』
(Misleading Title) 『When I read the title"Power Yoga"I assumed that I'd be getting an intense workout. I was wrong, I didn't even break a sweat. Power Yoga, is about connecting the body with the breath. The poses are very, very easy and very slow. The first instructor is really annoying and the dubbing for the second half is poorly done. Yoga Zone has a few good DVD's but this isn't one of them.』 『"Power Yoga" has gradually become the aerobics of the new millennium, driven by a no-pain-no-gain ethos that emphasizes sweat and strengthening over yoga's more subtle benefits. But this two-part, 40-minute Yoga Zone program takes a more mild approach, hewing to the philosophy that the power of power yoga depends less on aggressive, strenuous poses than on conscious awareness of oneself and the vital link between breath and movement. Both parts rely on brisk, flowing repetitions of severalvinyasas(connected series of poses). The first includes some standing positions (mountain, warrior I and II, etc.), lunges, twists, side stretches, and the camel backbend; those new to yoga will find the sequence alternating between the downward dog and plank positions to be fairly demanding, but there's nothing outrageously hard here. The second part again concentrates on the downward dog, one of the essential poses in yoga, along with twists, stretches (like the "blown palm," a standing side stretch), forward bends, lunges and so on. The virtue of repeatingvinyasas-- i.e., moving in and out of several poses, one breath at a time--is that it reinforces proper breathing patterns, and the instructors do a good job of reminding you when to inhale and exhale, which is not so simple as it might sound. More warm-up time would be helpful--beginners and experienced yogis alike should do some stretching before starting--but once you get going, the DVD menu allows for easy selection of either part, or the various series within them. You can also do the practice without the instruction, accompanied only by the music.--Sam Graham』 『With its, easy-to-follow approach, the Yoga Zone - Intro to Power Yoga for Beginners from Video Action Sports is the perfect way to tone your entire body. The two complete, integrated sessions on this video feature a popular, flowing yoga style that builds strength, increases flexibility and promotes inner peace.』
IPhone 3G used's review (Ok, but not for early trimester mums hoping to do some typical yoga) 『The instructor is a bit excentric. But also it is not geared towards women in their early trimesters. If someone is looking for sunrise salutations or warrior yoga or any of the more modern yoga poses your out of luck. Maybe pop this dvd in when you are further along and you can no longer do the more typical poses. Plus if you not into the OM breathing techniques this DVD isn't the one for you. To me it just doesn't feel like the best dvd for the modern mum to be.』
(If you are a student of yoga-don't bother) 『I took prenatal yoga at a studio through my entire pregnancy. It was the greatest thing ever and prepared me for a beautiful easy labor and birth. This on the other hand was a waste of money. I wanted something to do with my child along the same lines as when she was in the womb. The instructor on the video was incredibly annoying. I have had spiritual yoga teachers with very relaxed voices before, but she must have been hitting the hooka with Mary Jane if you know what I mean. Also, her style of yoga was more about repetitive movement versus breathing through your pose and letting breath bring you to your goal. If you have taken a yoga class before, you may not enjoy this at all. If you don't like people who talk like they are high, you may not enjoy this video either.』
(Baby&Mom Postnatal Yoga) 『A little slow to take off, the instructor's voice is boring and a little creepy. Would have liked a little more exercise interaction with the baby. Wasn't very unique or interesting. Very basic obvious routines, great for the beginner.』
(sloppy yoga, messy video) 『I shouldn't complain, since this was a gift, but as someone with some yoga knowledge, and years of exercise class experience, I thought this was a mess. (I am less concerned about the vague spirituality of the instructor, since that can be ignored by those who are not interested, and it is not the main point.) The concept of recording a real class is interesting, but the editing made it hard to follow. The moms were doing all sorts of things, since their babies needed attention, so it's often not clear what to do - the camera would be on someone not following the exercises and attending to her baby when a new exercise began. The instructor's counting is loopy. It's never clear how many will be done, and the repetitions are done at different speeds, sometimes impossibly slow, sometimes impossibly fast. Never focused on form, as we should. There was very little about it that was yoga, and I was just stunned that the instructor would refer to "downward dog" as "triangle pose," a very different pose. Mostly, I think this is sloppy, with a few good exercises, but there's got to be something better out there, for moms and babies both.』
(Too much eastern religion; too little work out.) 『The instructor looks like a Hindu priestess. She begins the workout by having everyone chant to their inner being. I had to fast forward through alot. The exercises are good, but there are too few of them.』 『Los Angeles yoga guru Gurmukh Khalsa guides 15 new moms and their babies through 30 minutes of yoga stretches and poses, a joyful two-minute baby dance, a brief bout of baby yoga, and about 10 minutes of rest and visualization in this post-baby installment of "The Method" series of exercise tapes. The white-turbaned instructor starts with a brief talk about childbirth, yogic breathing, and a recommendation to "reclaim" one's navel. Viewers join her at the live taping of a class in a large room with Greek columns, roses, and a chamber quintet. Since it's not edited, babies cry and fuss. This adds a realistic element of chaos to the tape, which the more traditional voice-over instruction ignores. Khalsa specializes in the Kundalini method, and in this tape she concentrates on slow stretches with a lot of abdominal work. The infants are included in some, as when the women roll back and forth with babies on their bellies or do "mama pushups" over the little ones. But once they are old enough to crawl, these exercises get difficult--as one baby repeatedly demonstrates. The infants are also incorporated in a cobra/triangle series, a set of Kegels, and are even used as weights. Then it's their turn with some baby stretches of their own. Finally, the moms are invited to lie down with their offspring for the rest and relaxation finale--although, predictably, some babies do neither. The 50-minute tape provides plenty of good ideas for moms who want to do yoga with their babies--or even on their own.--Kimberly Heinrichs』

I appreciate the no-nonsense approach to this critical element of physical balance, especially as part of a more holistic wellness program. (The Athlete's New Best Friend!) 『This is an awesome yoga practice for all levels! While it doesn't take you through the advanced poses like headstands, arm balances, etc., the clever sequencing takes you through every pose that your body really needs - just none of the injury prone poses that help us show off! This practice will keep you safe while focusing on all the muscle groups the athlete particularly needs - basic stretching, hip openers, Warrior I-III, and plenty of pushups if you choose to accept that challenge:-) If not, you can always do them on your knees. Kimberly Fowler's voice and pacing are very nice, and her attitude is encouraging and non-judgemental. While she doesn't try to provide the spiritual guidance running rampant among yoga teachers, she does say that this is a natural bi-product of a yoga practice in her website Q&A. Personally, I like that she is cool with letting each of us experience our own personal spiritual journey and focuses on guiding us through a very efficient and focused practice. I use this DVD regularly and can't wait for the next one! I liked it so much that I also purchased the IPOD download version!』
(Recommended by a friend, and met expectations) 『I was interested in incorporating yoga into my training routine, and this program was recommended by a friend. It was exactly what I expected, and after three weeks of use, I can see that I am getting the desired results (greater flexibility, core strength, body control).
Some of the routine was difficult for me at first, and some parts of the routine remain challenging even as I have progressed. The jacket recommends watching the entire video at least once before participating, and I would say that is good advice - when you are working out, it allows you to concentrate on the verbal cues without constantly interrupting the movement/position to look at the tape.

I love YBB so any DVD they put out I have to have. I don't do the tapes as often as I should but when I do them I definately notice a difference in my body.』
(I hate working out . . . .) 『but these DVDs are a lot of fun! There is enough variety to keep you interested, time seems to pass quickly, and toning seems to be immediate. What I like best about the dance sections on these DVD is that you can modify them as you like. Naturally, I couldn't follow ALL the steps the first couple of times I did them, but the routines are put together such that you can make the movements as big as you like, as small as you like, embelish if you're in the mood, you don't have to do them exactly the way the instructors are doing them, just keep moving, keep that heart pumping. Now, they do a lot "from the top" which I figured I would get really tired of, but it turns out starting from the top after adding one more new move at the end helped me retain the routine better in my mind. It's a great way of keeping the pace going as well, keeping that heart and rhythm going. Granted, the Latin workout is a little difficult for beginners, but who cares? If you can't follow the moves (like I still can't, just yet) just keep shaking it in your own style, your own way! You're in your own living room, who's going to see you? So there's no need to feel foolish if you can't keep up with them. Besides, they rehearsed that routine; we have not. I found this to be fun, uplifting, positive, and energetic. I feel better about myself physically and mentally when I'm done, and believe it or not, I can feel that my lungs are able to expand more now and I can get in more air, my heart feels stronger - these are pretty cool women. I no longer want that rail-thin body like I had when I was 16, like what's airbrushed on the cover of Vogue these days (those images aren't even real, so why do we aspire to look like them?); what I want now, what's more important is muscle tone, better posture, stronger heart and lungs, and a more positive attitude. Now most of that lies on your own shoulders to accomplish (like Gillian says YOU are accountable), but these women really help motivate you and get you started. I've also got the Goddess Booty workout, which really toned that area, and I plan to buy the Goddess Abs when it comes out in September. I highly recommend Yoga Booty Ballet!!』
(Worth The Money) 『I just received the YBB 2 disc set. I just finished the light and easy. I would recomend it for a beginner because the moves are pretty easy, but you're gonna have to do it more than once to get the hang of it. The instructors are very postitive and as long as you don't mind the "new age" approach, you'll probably like it too. Not everyone in the video is a size two either, which is nice.』
(Yoga Booty Ballet) 『This DVD is def different from other workouts...u will either really like it or hate it.』
(Fun short workouts with a lot of variety) 『This package includes two workouts, each about 40 minutes and incorporating an intro with new age / yoga style "intention setting", dancey cardio (about 15-20 minutes), approximately 10-15 minutes of toning and a short yoga cooldown. The workouts are taught in an indoor classroom setting with live druming but what seems like recorded music.
The Light&Easy workout is more appropriate for beginners, with a slower pace, more traditional aerobics moves, and less overall intensity. It finishes with some pretty traditional ab work incorporating a squishy ball (not included with DVD). The only thing I did not like about this workout is during the intention setting, when they usually have you put your hands in a "cria", the one for this particular workout was surprisingly strenuous--flapping your arms up and down for what seemed like forever. It was the most difficult part of the workout for me.
The Latin workout incorporates Latin music and a few familiar steps such as flamenco and mambo, and some totally original creations of Gillian&Teigh. I love the choreography in this workout, although it is a bit hard to follow at times and I know I look ridiculous doing it. True, there is not much instruction or technique, but I think the focus in this workout is not doing the steps exactly right but getting moving and having a good time. Even the dancers in the room are not all doing the exact same thing. I find I get really bogged down and frustrated in videos that focus too much on dance instruction and getting your hips moving exactly the right way and I don't get a good workout. Here I don't worry about it and just move.
What I like best: I like that the choreography is different, fun, and not focused on being a perfect dancer. Although Teigh and Gillian can be corny at times, they are endearing and motivating. I enjoy the fact that they're focused more on being your best self than losing weight. I like that the workouts are short and include many different aspects - yoga, dance, toning - so I never get bored.
What I do not like: There is way too much taking it from the top. You learn one new thing and then have to take it from the top...over and over. You end up only doing the very end of the dance once. On some YBB lives, they even stop in the middle of the routine, so you never get to do the complete routine in its entirety. This just seems really poorly planned. I would prefer either breaking it up into sections ~5 mins each or just learning more steps before starting at the beginning again, and then doing it from the top twice at the very end once you've learned the whole thing. Also they always start on the same leg and there is really not a whole lot of effort towards getting the same balance on both legs.
Despite these problems, these are workouts I continue to look forward to again and again.』 『Now the hottest exercise class in Hollywood can be experienced "live" right in your own home! IPhone 3G used's review (For Beginners) 『I am no yogini but I have done a little yoga before. When you see "Beginner" in the title of a yoga dvd, you never really know just how basic or beginner it is. This dvd was so well reviewed I decided to try it. I found it to be very basic and rather slow. It's a decent workout, but I was hoping for more. In particular, it would have been nice to have added an intermediate and/or advanced workout option, along with some more ab work. I found it to be a little overrated.』
(Unbelievable) 『I recently purchased the Men's Back Health through Yoga, and I must say I am thrilled. I have had chronic back pain for about six years, and it had gotten to the point that I was having trouble going up stairs, sleeping for more than an hour at a time, and even getting out of bed in the morning. I have seen countless doctors who could find nothng wrong with my spine. Visiting a chiropractor has helped some, but I have been completely miserable for over a year.
I began using the program last week, and already I am able to climb stairs and get out of bed like a normal human being. I still hurt, but the severity is greatly decreased. I cannot do the poses as well as the people in the video, but I can feel progress already. In fact, I have trouble even finishing the video, but I manage. When I do finish, I feel like a new man. It's simply unbelievable. 』
(Excellent Program) 『This video and her class have greatly increased my flexibility. I am an avid tennis player and runner but the years were causing me to have severe back and hip pain. (A Moment of Zen!) 『I bought the Teeter Hang Ups F9000 Inversion Table from Amazon after hearing about it from a friend. The table is Amazing! The quality is supreme!
I use it twice a day. First in the morning after doing sit ups/ crunches after putting shoes on, before eating breakfast. Then right after I get home from work! It truly creates a a wonderful and relaxing moment, especially after work and the drive home. You put your feet in, lay back and just hang! You feel so relaxed, and stretched out, that you don't even need a glass of wine to relax!!
The table is very balanced. You put your hands slightly over your chest and you start to tilt back. Put your hands higher and you tilt back more. Throw your arms over your head and you tilt back all the way past 60 degrees. Aaaahh! The gravity decompresses your spine. More Blood flows to your brain. Your lymph system drains, The fat around my belly lifts up from my abs, which I can actually feel again! I feel thinner, and way more relaxed! All of this is an unexpected side benefit, since I got the Inversion Table to help my back!
I would recommend the 9000 since it has the ratchet to hold down your feet, along with the floor pads at the bottom corners.
Again the quality is highly professional. the unit is solid, and it provides that twice daily moment of zen, making it totally worth it!』
(One of my best purchases EVER!!) 『The Teeter Hang Ups receives my highest recommendation. I've suffered with very serious back problems for many years and after researching the various products available, it was a no-brainer in deciding on this item. I was a bit worried at first, because having suffered through such pain for so long, I didn't know what to expect upon first using the "Hang Ups". To my surprise and great pleasure, the item is everything it was advertised to be and more. I used it cautiously at first and I was soon looking forward to each daily session. This is truly a 5 star wonder product.』 『If you're plagued by back pain or suffer from stress overload, consider the Teeter Hang Ups F9000 inversion table, which helps to counter the effects of too much time spent sitting, standing or moving repetitively. It's also a great way to add extra crunch to exercises like sit-ups. The Teeter Hang Ups F9000 rotates on a pivot system. With simple arm movements (rotation is accomplished by shifting the weight of the arms), the table easily rotates to any comfortable angle. The smooth rotation allows for oscillation and intermittent traction. Adjustable roller hinges allow you to pre-select three levels to control the aggressiveness of rotation, and the tether strap allows you to pre-select the maximum angle of inversion.
Comfortable ankle clamps hold you securely while inverting. Corner feet increase the A-frame base by 20 percent, reduce sliding on hard surfaces and protect floors. An easy-to-reach ratchet handle opens and closes with the push of a button, eliminating the need to reach to the ankles to secure the foot clamps.
It's able to lock at full 90 degrees inversion (this is only possible when using the more aggressive roller hinge setting). While at 90 degrees, you can perform inverted sit-ups and squats. The table is self-controlled and can be unlocked with simple arm movements.

About Inversion Tables Back pain is an uncomfortable and cumbersome ailment for millions of people. It can strike repeatedly and without warning, nearly paralyzing its victims with pain and discomfort. Inversion therapy is an excellent way to prevent and treat chronic or recurring back pain. This form of therapy treats back pain by hanging a person upside-down by their ankles. The only problem with this therapy is a risk of spinal injury because of the procedure's lack of support. Fortunately, inversion tables remove this risk.
A person can lie on an inversion table, and then gradually turn themselves upside down, always fully supported by their ankles. With precise balance, simple arm movements control the rotation of the inversion table. Special tether straps or locking hinges allow users to stop a rotation at just the right angle in order to stretch a specific place in their back. This technique has proven effective for relieving spine compression, elongating the spine, and reversing minor spinal dislocations. Of course, this treatment is not for everyone. People with glaucoma, very high blood pressure, bone disorders, or a history of severe spinal injury or surgery should be careful and check with a physician before administering inversion therapy. However, with a bit of practice and caution, inversion tables can be your ticket to a pain-free and healthier back.
