『A truly magnificient album with both depth and beauty. Angelika has a wonderful voice combining innocence with technical skilfullness. And although this is a"new Age"influenced version of the old hindu-chants she really stays close to the roots. Truly transmiting a sense of something holy. There has been some great mantra-recordings in recent years with artist like Krishna Das and Deva Premal, none the less Angelika is somehow in a league of her own. I simply love this record. 『We stumbled across this DVD at the library. I had been trying to introduce yoga to my kids as a great way to exercise and relax but they didn't show much interest... I was skeptical at first as the adults are a bit creepy. However, my kids LOVED this DVD and asked for it every morning. We rechecked it out and now I am ordering it so we have our own copy. When we were on a road trip and we got out of the car to stretch my daughter went right into singing the songs from the video and ran the rest of the family through the yoga routine from the video... it really impressed me how much both my son and daughter loved it. It takes a lot to impress me and even more for me to take the time to write a review.... I felt that this DVD needed the recognition. :)』

『I bought this particular video b/c it advertised that it was for 12 months and up. It's a low-budget production and a little goofy, but my daughter loves it! She wants to watch it everyday with her yoga mat and eye pillow. She has become more coordinated in the movements and tries to sing the songs. She even does the boat and tree poses. It is a fun way for the very young to enjoy yoga. My only complaint is that there could be a little less singing and a little more of the movement for some of the sections. This is a great yoga video for the very young, but older children may enjoy other videos more.』

『I rented this dvd along with the other title Let's Go to the Jungle and am glad I didn't waste my money buying these. It captured their attention (2 and 3.5 yr old boys) but there is very little in the way of yoga and the adults are strange. Very annoying to listen to and watch.』

『This video has potential with the catchy original music, but the adults in the video act strangely and seem to talk down to the kids, aaannnd whhhhaaat do yooouuuu seeeeee? There is way too much talking. And they do very few actual poses/moves. The production is very poor - lots of choppy places and clearly repeated sections.

If it was just the poses and songs, and more of them, it would be much better.』

(Great for Everyone)
『I'm in love with stability balls, less so with yoga. The latter is something I've dabbled with for years but never made much of a commitment to, so when I saw this video combining yoga with the stability ball, I decided to give it a shot.

Sara Ivanhoe is a pleasant instructor, cute and positive without being overly perky. She explains things clearly without dwelling on them, so things move along briskly. Some of the position names strike me as odd ('puppy dog pose'?) but the modifications in general make sense. From a beginner's viewpoint, the poses become more doable yet at the same time more challenging, thanks to the addition of the ball. My only complaint, really, is the music, which is a new age-y sort of trance and which sounds rather cheap.

Overall, I really rather enjoy this workout. It's accessible for beginners of both yoga and the stability ball alike and moves along well enough to engage the interest of more experienced practitioners. It might not have completely succeeded in turning me on to yoga, but it's certainly added the elements to make it possible.』

『I received this workout with the Sara Ivanhoe's target zone 2 DVD set.

I was a bit sceptical thinking it would be more of pilates type workout but it wasn't. It is Yoga. The thing I liked was that I could feel myself using different muscles I don't normally use in Yoga, and it seemed like I was able to get an even deeper stretch on the stretching poses because of the support of the ball.

I've been doing Yoga several years, but don't do any of the really advanced moves. I typically don't feel like I get much out of a workout with the "beginner" labeled Yoga DVD's, but by adding the dimension of the ball it was definately a new challenge. For example, when doing a tree pose, instead of just standing, you bring the ball over your head and then do a side bend, while balancing on the one leg.

I recommend giving this a try, but it you'd like a bargain, look for the Sara's Target Zone DVD. It's about the same price and you get 5 extra 20 minute workouts :-)』

『This is my eight year olds favorite workout. It's a great for beginners because you use the ball to help you balance in most of the poses. I haven't tried it with her yet, but it does look like a lot of fun.』

Also, I love how Sara's tone is very calming and she does not bring up the mystical side of yoga, in comparison to the Ana and Ravi DVDs, which to me is a bonus because I'd rather just focus on my movements.』

『It is because of Kathy Smith that I love yoga. I've had many of her exercise tapes/DVDs over the years, and decided to try yoga several months ago. I love this DVD, and I'm happy to say that I'm getting fitter and stronger. Kathy is an excellent instructor, and doesn't speak in a sing-song voice like many do. I feel fantastic when done practicing, and am proud of myself for getting fitter. I also have and love Yoga Sculpt, also by Kathy Smith.』

『This is a very good DVD's for a beginner. This DVD starts lying on the ground with abdominal breathing exercises and then moves on to stretches (knees to chest etc) and then twist (knees to ground etc.)This is bit different than most yoga DVD's start, but I like the change. The practice starts out with a more relaxed and calm atmosphere.
Then on to hands and knee poses (Cat-Cow, knees to chest) and then standing. There are only a few standing poses (high lunge, side-angle, forward bend with a chair, etc) but they are held long enough so you can feel the effect of the pose.
It ends again on the floor with forward bends and relaxation. Beginners will learn about posture, foot placement, breath work and alignment. The total workout is about 1 hour and is well cued, expertly demonstrated and has a person to the right who modifies most moves. You will need a chair, strap, and or wall available to complete the practice. Very nice』

『Granted I am not the fittest person video on earth, I did find this to be an excellent yoga video if you are fit and never done yoga. If you could stand to lose some more weight like me then you might want to wait a little longer. Kathy was great in her instructions and it went at a nice easy pace. You do need a few things for the video: a chair, a strap or long bath towel. Head and wrist bands are optional. I did sweat to this video. The only down side to this video and I am not alone in this (read other people reviews) some of the poses are held a little too long and the video is fifty minutes long. I did have to stop half way through to take a mini breather. I would recomend this video to another person.』

『This is the first yoga video I ever bought, and it's the only one that I keep coming back to!

My only complaint is the length. At 50+ minutes long, the video is too long for me to do the whole thing every day. I tend to do just the floor poses and then I skip to the guided relaxation.

I do feel great afterward. It's a great way to get rid of a headache. I even found that it helped with my carpal tunnel symptoms, which wasn't something I was expecting it to do!』

『I have never done yoga before and I wanted to try it so I read some reviews on this particular DVD and decided to go for it. It was okay. I felt that she kind of babbled too much and the poses were held for quite a while. I didn't exactly find it as relaxing as it probably should have been.

I have only done the video once. I believe in giving things a second chance so I will do that with this video, but I'm not convinced that my star-rating or feelings will change.』

『I have been using this video for seven years. I wanted to become more flexible as I found at 52 I was stiffening up. I viewed about 10 different videos to find a tape I could stand to watch repeatedly. After seven years, I have never tired of using this tape. I spend each morning before work with this tape and move and think more flexibly because of it. It saved my body and when I've had to go to physical therapy a couple of times they say,"You are very flexible!"I owe it to this tape which I originally found at the library and titled something like Yoga for Flexibility.
This is a program that you can do at any age, no matter your body size, sitting in a chair and then a few on the floor and ending with a guided relaxation. These are modified poses to begin acquiring flexibility. If I could only have one Yoga tape for a lifetime, it would be this one. And it is!

『This is an excellent stretch and toning workout for anyone who is sedentary, stiff, needs to sit, has pain anywhere. This workout is done with a chair and some floor work. It is actually the beginning of the practice of yoga in a safe way. I have worked with seniors for years and highly recommend this video to increase flexibility, strength, coordination and comfort.

I personally used Lilias yoga tapes when she was a young woman in the 70's and she still has a nurturing, calming and supportive style of helping you and your body improve in function. The scenery is beautiful, Susan's words are inspirational&on cue, but the pace of speaking is slow. This workout seems to be geared to absolute beginners with limited flexibility&endurance. There are a lot of short breaks between poses. There is heavy use of blocks&straps&many poses are modified. If you have decent flexibilty, just don't use these props.
The AM starts with 5 min of breathing, then child's pose, lunges, standing fwd bend, chair pose w/breathing, mountain pose, modified standing thigh stretch, standing wide legged torso side stretches, triangle, side angle, standing wide legged stretch. Then sitting torso twist, butterfly (no going down), modified boat. Laying down, a simple sustained ab crunch, knee to chest stretch, knee to side spinal twist, bridge pose. Laying on stomach, raising torso on ground with hans still on ground. Then downward dog&sitting in meditation.
PM: Begins with 5 min of scenery&mountain pose with breathing. Using towel, simple shoulder stretch, child's pose, downward dog, lunges, standing wide legged stretch, downward dog, child's pose, staff pose, modified sitting 1 legged fwd bend, sitting wide legged simple torso stretches, sitting 1 leg out to side torso side stretch. Laying down 1 straight leg to sky stretch, straight legs in air (very modified plow), knees to chest, knee to side spinal twist&ends in meditation.
The Bonus 20 min breathwork is a more normal pace, beginners' workout with out props&full poses. Twisted seated position, standing fwd bend, mountain, modified standing 1 legged pose, warrior 1, standing stretch for thighs, wide legged standing fwd bend. Then half kneeling torso side stretch, then lying down: locust, bow&bridge, 1 leg in air stretch&to the side. Then ab work while on elbows&legs raised in various degrees. Then seated twisted sage pose, sitting 1 straight leg stretch, seated wide legged sterch&ends with seated 2 min meditation.

The 5 min trailer is still at gaiam com but not sure how much longer.』


(Nice Workout, but Weight Loss?)
『This DVD has two pleasant and well-balanced yoga routines, but the "weight loss" is just a title and a couple of kind words in the introduction. If you have a limited amount of time and want to maximize pounds lost, this isn't the right choice for you.
Also, be warned that you do need props (blocks and a strap) to do the poses as instructed.』

『This DVD gives two good structured workouts. They are propped but can be done without if you have some experience. I would say this is more intermediate than beginner as the queueing is somewhat basic and may be too quick of you are very new to yoga. I do find that I need a good warm up before I can do the AM workout as opposed to the AM section of the AM/PM yoga for beginners DVD. Still a good additional option.』

『Having never done yoga in my life, I decided to give it a try to help reduce my stress levels. I have very little free time so I didn't want to have to commit to an hour at a time knowing I'd never do it. As a result of too much stress I was having trouble with my neck, shoulders, and back. The first week or so the poses were hard but not impossible to preform. I could really tell where the tension was in my body! I've been doing this dvd faithfully for almost three weeks and the difference is amazing. The tension is all but gone, I am much stronger in the poses, I feel much more relaxed and sleep better!

The program itself is put together nicely...soft, unobtrusive music; beautiful scenery; and the instruction is easy to follow with very clear explanations. Suzanne does use yoga blocks which I recommend...they really help in the morning workout when you are less flexible. She also uses a yoga strap and wedge. Obviously, you can't just do this workout and lose weight. As Suzanne says on the dvd, it's part of a healthy lifestyle.

Being a Christian, I hesitated to do yoga because I didn't want to be pressed upon by the belief system behind it but I don't feel that at all with this dvd. It's an excellent workout and I highly recommend it!』


(Don't let the title fool you)
『It's called conditioning for weight loss, but it's just an all around nice workout. Here are the things I like about this product:

1) The DVD lets you choose from four difficulty levels, or watch them combined. I really liked working my way through the levels so the same workout remained challenging. If I'm having a bad day and am too stiff, I can scale back to a lower level for that day.

2) I am a musician and am picky about background music. The Gaiam series of yoga tapes that I've purchased all have pleasant evocative, well performed music that doesn't annoy or distract me, but supports the ambience I'm wanting.

3.) I appreciate yoga and the culture that developed it, but I prefer to imbue the experience with my own spirituality, so I appreciate a workout that doesn't push any belief system too heavily.

4.) The instructor talks during many of the poses about how the different poses can affect your health. This is interesting and informative.』

『the yoga workouts are quite demanding but at last it is a video that does not explain all the basics all the time. you really get some work done and you still get the basics if you want to!』

『I am slightly experienced in Yoga and Pilates; however, experience was not necessary to move through this set. Kristin McGee does a wonderful job explaining poses (without having you stand there for 2 minutes holding the same pose). The workouts flow nicely and there are always three people behind her: one to demonstrate each level of expertise and Kristin is very attentive to the beginner as well as the expert. So far I have done the Pilates, the Yoga and the Power Yoga and have found that they each serve a great purpose. For a low intensity workout start with the Yoga, then the Pilates, then move to the Power Yoga. This set grows with your stamina and experience. The other great thing about this set is the breathing time in between exercises. These workouts definitely increase my heart rate without creating exhaustion (or dripping sweat). I recommend this for anyone who enjoys yoga and pilates or even for those who are just starting out and would like to experience a little bit of both.』

『I love this CD. Everything about it is perfect. There isn't too much talking or corniness, the music isn't too distracting, and the poster has very clear photographs. However, I only recommend this CD to those who have taken several yoga classes and are relatively familiar with the names of the poses. You don't have enough time to scan the poster for information while the CD is playing.』

『The Cd is attractive to look at. The chart is well designed and informative. The class itself is challenging, but with the options and modifications offered I would say anyone from a strong beginner the an advanced student would find it doable, but never boring. There are instructions for inversions, such as forearm balance and handstand. This track is also easily skipped if these are not poses you're ready for. The beginning is slow and instruction on alignment is very detailed, which prepares you for the faster parts of class. All in all a great practice CD with lovely music.』

(Good CD and foldout diagram, but flow too quick for me)
『I'm at a beginner level and I was looking for a CD to supplement my practice. I really appreciated the CD and the care that went into producing it. My favored approach to yoga is a slow mediative practice, so there were two minor issues with the CD: 1) I wanted to hold the poses longer, as in my 90 min yoga class. The flow seemed quick to me, but I could be an ultra slow yoga person, and 2) I found the speed of her voice too "fast" for me. It's a very subtle thing, so I don't think people would be annoyed. I wasn't used to a teacher talking so quickly and found myself distracted by it.

All in all, if you want the CD to take you through the moves, it seems like a great CD. I tried Yoga Sanctuary right afterwards and liked Shiva Rea's flow and tone of voice much better. It might be a preference thing as you could consider Shiva Rea's voice "sleepy" instead of "calming". :)』


(My Favorite Yoga Workout)
『This has got to be my favorite Yoga class and I have tons of videos and also"Yoga Sanctuary"by Shiva rea and Bryan Kest's advanced yoga cd, I find Lauren's"Yogi's Companion"to be my favorite, because it have has alot of my favorite poses and it's only 72 minutes and not 90 like someone else mentioned here, you can also make a shorter practice .This level of this cd in general is intermediate to advanced but you can choose only a few tracks for an easier practice, track 4 is the most challenging and my fave, it has tough arm balances like handstand ,peacock pose( forearm balance) and insect pose, your arms will be pumped after this! You also get a poster with all the poses, it's worth it!』

(Great Ashtanga Workout)
『As an Ashtanga yoga teacher, I would highly recommend this CD to aspiring yogi's or yogini's with a basic knowledge of yoga and a fairly good physical fitness level. Individuals who are new to Yoga or with injuries or other physical issues would be better to try something a little more basic, however. Lauren's voice is soothing and beautiful and she does offer alternative poses for the less flexible. I started using Devi Premal's"Gate Gate"in the Savasana's in my own classes after hearing it here.
The only drawback I would say about it is that she does not bring the more spiritual side of Yoga--"finding the infinite being within"as Patanjali says. But, overall a great CD and a great workout.』
