Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (It's okay.) 『I got this tape for $1 at my local dollar store, and I'm glad I didn't pay more. I would say it's not worth much more than five.
The good points are that it's colorful, and the animation and songs are pretty decent. But the instructor often spends way too much time talking about the poses, rather than just getting into them. It's too long for kids to wait. Also, I find the instructor's voice very.....odd. I know it's supposed to be 'soothing', but I find it weird. It's rather deep. It sounds to me like a man's voice trying to be a woman's voice. (If you've ever seen Transamerica, you'll know what I mean.)
I don't think my kids will use this as it's intended, as it's pretty slow. I know yoga isn't about speed, but kids aren't generally about meditation and excessive patience. If it went more directly into getting the kids into the poses, it would be better, in my opinion.』
(Good for young kids, wish it was a bit longer.) 『This is a nice starting yoga DVD for young kids. I just wish it was a little bit longer. There's also one young little girl in the back in red who doesn't always do the pose they are working on and I find her distracting -- she's not the one I want my toddler copying.
The poses are:
Balloon Breathing Butterfly Cat and Dog Stretch Rocking Beetle Cobra Lion Mountain Tree Bridge Jelly Legs Daydream Pose
My toddler does enjoy the cartoon of the poses followed by the kids doing it. It's very similar to "Yoga Kids: ABC's" by Marsha Wenig. If you like "Little Yogi's" then "Yoga Kid's: ABC's" would be the next stop since it is also a little cartoon followed by the pose but since it goes throughout the alphabet, it is longer.』
(THank you WAI LANA!) 『My Aunt gave this to me and my little sisters and brothers a few months ago. We all love doing this and it is very much fun. It is very colorful and nice. The music is also nice. The memry cards of this tape are also really nice to play with!』
(a great kid yoga video) 『Little Yogis is a charming and fun yoga video. Some friends got it for their three kids, and all the kids have fun doing yoga with it. The 5 year old boy loves it so much he gets his own mat out to do it by himself. The beautiful scenery, happy music, and smiling Wai Lana make this kid yoga video exceptional. I've seen a couple of other kiddie yoga videos, and this is so much better I highly recommend it. I'm going to get it for my grandchildren.』
(My daughter loves Wai Lana!!!) 『My 6 year old daughter had no interest in any of the yoga videos I purchased for her in the past, that was until Wai Lana's Little Yogis. This video is full of magic with Wai Lana's lovely personality, fun songs and cartoons, It is unlike any other children's yoga video I've seen before. Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Clarinet or Shakuhachi?) 『Scott has an amazing sound on this album (very similar to"Music for Zen Meditation") that is much more reminiscent of purely Eastern people. Colin Walcott, on sitar, perfectly complements Scott and two produce a great ambient album. Considering it was recorded long before such music really became"accepted"it really sounds quite fresh.
I particularly enjoy Hatha where Scott creates some ethereal notes that mesh perfectly with Walcott's sitar. Listen to this on a good system in a quiet room and enjoy!
Although many will debate about mixing meditation and music, I find this album enhances my meditation time...』
(Great Scott!) 『Though"Zen"is undoubtedly Scott's crowning achievement,"Yoga"is a fine follow up. Similar to the former, Scott plays his ethereal clarinet to the backdrop of an Indian sitar. Far from some of the cheesier Eastern fare of the sixties, Tony Scott's well-deserved claim to fame is that he was dabbling in Eastern music and lifestyles in the fifties, before anyone else had staked a claim in it. And though I don't meditate, I'm sure this would be a good companion if I did. Try"Zen"first, but"Yoga"is well worth it.』
IPhone 3G used's review (THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING WHEN THEY MADE THIS VIDEO) 『I have CFS, Fibromyalgia (FM), and degenerative joint&muscle disease. I am 90% bedridden yet I am able to do this workout regularly. There are three levels shown for each of these very low-impact routines. You can do all the exercises sitting in a chair if necessary. All the exercises are simple and focus specifically on the hot spots of FM and arthritis. The best part is the wonderful relaxation portion at the end. It just doesn't come any easier than this. If I can do it...YOU have no excuse not to try it for yourself. I even bought a copy for my mother.』 『Pathways is a state-of-the-art, yoga-based exercise program produced by top exercise and physical therapists for the Arthritis Foundation. It is nationally acclaimed and is used by physical and occupational therapists, rheumatologists, and hospitals throughout the country, as well as by individuals in their homes.
The video shows 5 people, all of whom have some type of arthritis, such as fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. One participant also has Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The participants work at various levels of ability, and their ages range from an athletic 35 to 74. Since all but 5 minutes can be done seated, the video can be used as an excellent wheelchair exercise routine. Besides arthritis, it is also recommended for MS, seniors, or for anyone who needs or prefers to do exercises while seated.
The total running time of the video is 52 minutes and it is divided into 5 segments. These can be done separately to provide a variety of routines, or together for one complete workout. It begins with a 15-minute seated section which includes breathing techniques, and slow, range of motion exercises for the neck, shoulders, arms, wrists and fingers and ankles, and some strengthening exercises for the thighs. Then, it moves to a 7-minute standing section (all of which can be done seated except for 5 minutes) which focuses on leg stretches, leg strengthening exercises, posture and balance. It continues with a 9-minute aerobic section, which also shows 2 people seated. The aerobics is very low-impact and shows a few different ways to move the legs, even from a chair. Next, there is an 8-minute floor section, also showing someone seated, which works on hamstring stretches, sit-ups, and back massages. The last section is a 7-minute relaxation period which is a total body relaxation with soothing music. This can be done separately at the end of a stressful day, or right before bed to help fall asleep.』
IPhone 3G used's review (Excellent DVD!) 『I used to have the Yoga Journal's Energy Balance videotape, which was fine. Only did not really like the speech about yoga at the end of the yoga workout. This DVD put his speech at the beginning now, which is better. Love Rodney Yee's yoga methods!』
(Too Soft) 『I didn't see any results, nor did I improve my practice with this DVD. The poses in the second section are fast pace and not easy to follow. The exercise is not aerobic at all. The locations are beautiful and I use some of the poses as stretches after running.』
(The best of Rodney) 『I had this particular Rodney Yee program for years on VHS, until it wore out. I was glad to find it on DVD. With over 30 years of practice, it remains my favorite routine. Divided into 5 short mini-routines geared toward different times of day, you can choose which ones fit your need. It is easy and fun enough for beginners, but challenging enough for more advanced practitioners who need a "pick-me-up" during the day.』
(A MORE ADVANCED LEVEL, A CHALLENGE, AND WONDERFUL!) 『I have been into Yoga for several years and am now going to the Intermediate level. This superb Rodney Yee DVD is for one who knows the Yoga positions as this is done with little dialog and one is expected to be very familiar with Yoga. Each session is at a different time of the day. The first 2 sessions are my favorites in the morning and take just about 15 minutes. The 3rd one the Creativity lasts right at 16 Minutes (the longest, most difficult and the very fastest section). The last 2 sessions called Reflection (11 minutes) and Surrender (4 minutes) are my PM favorites. These were done on the DVD at SUNSET and these last 2 sessions, just 15 minutes total are wonderful to do in the PM after dinner and I have found that I am so relaxed and sleep wonderful after I have done these! What I love so much about this DVD is the navigation is so easy and you can choose the section that you wish to work on. This, I give a SUPERB RATING and oh yes, 10 STARS! Bravo!』
(My favorite yoga video) 『This video is one the I use for my daily practice. It's so nice not to hear verbal instruction -- that might be necessary for beginners, or the first few times you use a DVD, but after the 50th time you hear the same old stuff you feel like telling Rodney to "Shut up!" In this DVD, all you hear is the name of the pose -- which would be a disadvantage to absolute beginners.
The first section "Awakening" is similar to the A.M. Yoga, or the "Back Care" section of the Healing tape in this same series. Nice, easy stretches.
The second section "Centering" is a nice flow series of standing poses. It really gives me some much-needed help with balance. You go through the series twice, first doing Tree to the right, then Triangle to the left, and so on through, Side Stretch, Warrior I and II, Half Moon, Warrior III, and Extended Leg Stretch. It's the shortest routine on the DVD, but quite possibly the best.
The third section, "Creativity" is the most difficult, and the one which seems to generate the most complaints. It *is* fast; I think it's intended to be aerobic. The worst part to me is that I simply can't make some of the transitions. It is physically impossible for me to jump from dog pose to standing forward bend, for example, or to go directly from downward dog to Triangle. Dog pose, or the plank-up dog-down dog sequence is used to transition between poses, and quite frankly, I usually just skip this and do the next pose. (Anyone who needs to use the blocks will not be able to keep up otherwise.) Things slow down towards the end, however. I keep trying with this practice, but I skip it more frequently than any of the others on the DVD, and it's the reason I can't give it five stars.
The fourth practice "Reflection" is virtually the opposite of the one before -- nice, slow seated forward bends. You spend quite a long time in each one, and it's very relaxing.
Finally, there's a short four-minute relaxation pose, the only practice where there's any narration. I usually mute it at this point; if you don't, you'll find yourself rudely awakened by Rodney explaining the whole concept behind the Energy practice.
Overall, it's a good everyday practice, and that's how I use it. I add some conscious breathing before I start, and meditation after it's over, and that's my usual yoga practice for the day.』 『Yoga Journal's approach to instructional yoga tapes is always innovative, but their hour-longYoga Practice for Energyis truly different. Filmed at the beach on Maui, the sessions Awakening, Centering, Creativity, Reflection, and Surrender offer movements that follow the cycle of the sun through the course of a day. Viewers are encouraged to first try the entire tape several times, and then use the sessions that correspond to their needs at any particular time. For example, if you've just trudged in the door from a hectic day, you may want to use the Reflection session, in which "a cooling, tranquil series of forward bends and hip openers let all activities of the day seep in like watercolors setting into paper." There is almost no narrative accompanying the five practice sessions, and if you are a beginner you may feel lost at first viewing. Have no fear: there is a wonderful appendix of poses at the end of the tape to which you can refer for tips on technique and variations.--Jhana Bach』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (This is a workout video not for finding inner peace) 『My idea of yoga is Yoga Mind and Body by Ali Mcgraw, I have been using it for years and lately added Yoga Shakti by Shiva Rea. Aside from these 2 I do pilates. Imagine my surprise the 1st time I did MTV Power Yoga, I could not keep up. My heart was surging like a race horse and all those downward facing dogs made my arms tremble, add to that my shoulders ached. For the 1st few times (about 4x or more) I just did the sun salutations and called it a day. I have done half the workout more times than I have done the entire work-out, but I liked it and it was getting easier so I kept doing it.
Earlier this year I gained weight and went up to 52kg. Bear in mind that at 5ft 3 inches that's in now way large, but on my frame gaining 2-3kg makes me feel slow and heavy. For some weeks now I have noticed that my clothes are much loser (I have lost quite a few inches) and I am back at 49.5 kg. I started doing MTV Yoga in June and continued doing it on and off until the middle of August and havent done it since then, now its October 3rd. The reason I am writing this review is I ran into someone today who I havent seen in 2 years and after a few minutes they commented that my face had gotten quite slimmer. I came home and for some reason it clicked that the only thing I did new this summer was that I started doing power yoga (and drinking green tea). So today I decided to do the workout again after stopping for about 6 weeks and lo and behold I could finish the entire yoga workout!!! No shaking like before (ok just a tiny bit), my arms didnt hurt from the downward facing dog, and all in all my body had gotten a lot stronger. Even though this DVD is FAST I was able to do it with some semblance of elegance and without getting completely out of breath.
Think of this DVD as strength training, aerobics, and flexibility workout in one, using yoga moves. If you are looking for meditative yoga movements to slow down and find your spirit then this is not it. If you want to get stronger, work you heart, and stretch your body then you have the right DVD. I absolutely love this work out now because I can get stronger without lifting weights and I can raise my heart rate without doing all the jumping and high impact stuff. I dont recommend this workout for beginners. I was not a beginner to yoga when I started, nor was anywhere close to being overweight, and I am relatively fit (I have been commuting by bicyle for the last 4 years). Even so, this workout worked me over to the point where I had to quit half way many times. That being said, if you already have experience with yoga you can start using this DVD and sloowly build your way up. Stick with it and you will get stronger, the shaking will get less and eventually stop, and your breathing will be less haggard and become more even, and you may drop some inches. That was the result I experienced.
』
(Great workout but might be ambitious for beginners) 『I personally LOVE this video. It's one of the best yoga videos ever! That said, it is not a typical yoga video. It is POWER yoga and it is very challenging. She moves fast through the salutations and the standing postures. But it slows down a little for balances, twists, and bends. I say it might be ambitious for a beginner because the first time I did it, I found it a little hard to follow. And I had done yoga (although mostly Hatha) before. But once you get through the first time, it gets easier and easier to follow. I like that it is only about 45 minutes long and afterward you feel like you really got a good workout. I also like that the bonus ab pilates workout is only 10 more minutes. Overall, I think it is a fabulous video for those looking for a challenging 'yoga-cardio' workout.』
(Addicted to this DVD) 『After having my second baby at the age of 32, I tried many different exercise routines to lose weight (my other favorites are Crunch and FitTV workouts with Ellen Barrett and Kendall Hogan). I borrowed MTV Power Yoga from the library and was immediately addicted - my first workout got me sweating profusely but left me with a feeling of exhilaration, rather than leaving me tired. Kristin McGee gives great instruction, especially with breathing cues. I was able to follow along from day 1 despite having minimal prior experience with yoga. After doing MTV Power Yoga 4-6 times per week for a month, I lost the last stubborn 5 pounds and was able to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes.』
(Hard core...) 『Love the DVD, but some advice. I am a beginner and I just decided to make the move from beginner to 'power' yoga. I DO NOT recommend this DVD if you are a beginner and you haven't become thoroughly familiar with her other mtv yoga DVD, the red colored one. In fact, together they are both great. I recommend starting with the red one, then after at least a month of practice with it you can move onto the blue one. But don't go blue first, unless you are 'practiced'. AND, even when you are getting good with the red one and you wanna' move onto the blue one, watch it through first, just to figure out the complicated moves 'cause she goes fast. But, this is a great DVD, buy it, and you will work your arse off...』
(Not bad.) 『It is a challenging yoga routine but McGee doesn't know right from left and everything is hurried. My guess for a reason for the fast routine is the ADD of the target audience of teenagers. Try Brian Kest.』 『MTV and yoga? The two concepts don't go together as naturally as, say, Siegfried and Roy. Still, this 40-minute program (plus a brief Pilates-based routine for the abs) has more to offer than the chance to gaze at buff young bodies in leotards. Instructor Kristin McGee (who also appears onMTV Yoga, the channel's 2002 yoga program) continually emphasizes the crucial element of the breath, and the routine includes sun salutations, backbends, balances, twists, and other aspects of a well-rounded practice. But not enough time is allotted for warm-up, and the pace is very brisk; any practice that uses the downward dog pose primarily for resting is not for the faint of heart. That's fine for the short-attention-span generation spawned by MTV, but not great when it comes to a discipline that cultivates endurance, will, patience, and introspection by way of the depth and deliberateness of the movements. It's yoga all right, but this is definitely not recommended for the inexperienced.--Sam Graham』 『MTV POWER YOGA works for everyone --whether green newcomer or seasoned fitness pro. Incorporating beginner-to-advanced versions in one routine, the workout is all-inclusive. Shot outdoors at the beautiful Point Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix, Arizona, the serene surroundings perfectly complement the great routine. Kristin takes the class and viewers through a fast-paced workout, beginning with breathing instructions and stretches. It builds briskly and skillfully into more strenuous positions, working each individual section of the body, subtly enhancing flexibility and strength.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Great Yoga Workout) 『This is a great yoga workout for advanced beginners and for intermediates. Sara Ivanhoe gives clear directions and makes the workout fun even with repeated viewings.』
(Great for beginners.... VERY BASIC) 『This is a good DVD if you have NEVER EVER done Yoga before. It is very basic but informative. If you have basic knowledge of yoga, I would go for the intermediated dvd. But, like I said, if you have no knowledge whatsoever, this is a great dvd.』
(I'm a beginner but way past this..) 『I love Sara Ivanhoe and own some and have rented some of her other dvd's. I was real excited to get this dvd and learn some new great poses. I have just started doing Yoga and I already knew 11 of the 12 poses. I can not believe that I already knew them because they are such simple ones and this is "beyond basic". It is very clear and it is nice that is shows you what you could be doing wrong but I assumed I would learn the new poses in a flowing sequence. You just learn them and then hold them for 6 breaths and it's over. It is very easy to do and you could probably skip the first one. Her Crunch dvd's and 20 min workouts are better. I love the 20 min workouts.』
(Yoga Postures for Strength and Flexibility) 『Sara Ivanhoe's nurturing teaching style makes her workouts perfect for beginners, but even if you are intermediate, she still knows how to present challenging postures in a way that makes you want to try them. This workout begins with a series of stretches to warm up the upper body, but you may want to walk for 20-30 minutes or do some aerobics to warm up the muscles. I found that without the walking or biking, I was not as flexible.
"The Daily Dozen" exercises are a little more challenging than the first DVD and I was actually surprised at two of the exercises because they almost seemed advanced. It was more the length of time you are required to hold the posture that seems to make them go beyond intermediate. Upward Dog is surprisingly challenging when held for six breaths. Normally I've tried this in a vinyasa style workout with flowing postures. When you take each posture and focus your attention for six breaths, this becomes a test of patience and endurance. The postures include:
Chair Warrior Triangle Wide Leg Standing Forward Bend Low Lunge Twist Upward Facing Dog Dolphin Cow - I had never seen this exercise before! Total challenge! Wide Leg Seated Forward Bend Reclined Butterfly Supine Twist Final Relaxation
I really loved "Dolphin" which is like Downward dog with your arms bent and your head almost on the floor. It tests your upper body strength and balance, but feels great once you are done with the breathing exercises. Each posture presents a physical and psychological challenge which makes them even more fun.
"Cow" felt very much like an advanced exercise, mostly because of the flexibility required to even get into the posture. I literally sat there laughing when I realized there was no way my legs would "pretzel" the way the exercise required. So, you may just want to adapt that one for beginner/intermediate and it still seems to have the desired effect. Beginners will find some of the exercises to be more intermediate, and intermediate practitioners may find this workout great for developing patience.
For some reason, which I can't explain, Sara Ivanhoe's workouts leave me feeling more centered, balanced and generally happy and peaceful. It is as if the world spins a little more smoothly after the workout. A meditation session is also offered and Sara Ivanhoe teaches you a new mudra. I can also highly recommend her Candlelight Yoga workout and all of her 20-minute Makeovers.

~The Rebecca Review 』
(A little disappointed...) 『I bought the First DVD, Yoga for Dummies. It was great because it had a section where she showed you each pose and then she actually gave you a full routine that you could practice to. This DVD only gives the instructional part but there is no routine to follow. And I agree with the other reviews...the pop-ups are beyond annoying. I do not think these existed on the first DVD and I am not quite sure why they were added. I like Candle Light Yoga and Crunch Fat Burning with Sara but I would not recommend this DVD due to the fact that it is basically instructional with no practice routine to go with the instructional.』 『Beyond Basic Yoga for Dummiespresents 12 yoga poses that skilled instructor Sara Ivanhoe calls the "daily dozen." Ivanhoe is calm, clear, warm, and patient, demonstrating each pose as the screen flashes easier and more challenging modifications. The too-frequent voiceover "tips," "mythbusters," and "warnings"--announced by sound effects--are louder than Ivanhoe's voice and become disconcerting interruptions. Since they also appear in print on the screen, the jarring voice is unnecessary. Ivanhoe herself could give any tips needed for safety and effectiveness. Ivanhoe's careful, detailed instructions for each pose keep the progression slow, and an experienced yoga practitioner could get bored. However, a beginning exerciser who has mastered a basic workout will find this program a helpful next step before going to an intermediate level. The 70-minute DVD edition also includes a 15-minute guided meditation and the option to eliminate the music--you still hear instructor cueing and voiceover tips, but you can play your own music.--Joan Price』 『The Beyond Basic Yoga Workout For Dummies is the next step for anyone who has enjoyed Basic Yoga Workout For Dummies and is ready to learn 12 more postures. It is a little more advanced than the Basic Yoga program, but still features the For Dummies format. The mat is 7 feet long, and is a thick, dense mat that not only provides adequate padding, but holds up extremely well over time. At 6.2mm, our extra long yoga mat is a full 1/4" thick, and is one of the thickest mats on the market. When shopping around for a yoga mat, note that what many other companies call a 1/4" mat is actually 4.5 - 5.2 mm in thickness -- considerably thinner than this mat.
