I'm so glad I took that chance!!
Better than any 'spoken' meditation these short pieces are very powerful and I can feel them 'speaking' directly to my body, different chakras seem to 'vibrate'.
I highly recommend this for anyone who feels their chakras need balancing or indeed who just wants to feel calm and relaxed』

『Waking the Cobra is an overtone singing chakra meditation CD. The only instrument on this recording is Baird's voice.

The CD opens with a piece called "Atha", a Sanskrit word which means, "May the following have an auspicious beginning and successful end". It is the opening word of Patanjali's Yogasutras.

Next, is the title piece, "Waking the Cobra " which is in fact a collection of seven short pieces. They are meditations on the traditional shape, color, element and sound for each of the chakras. Hersey first recorded a multi-layered vocal background drone or moving harmony. Then, singing two pitches at once, he recorded the high melody parts.

This is followed by an extended piece called "The Conch Shell, The Wheel and the Sword". These words are taken from the invocation chanted before beginning the practice of Ashtanga Yoga. Call and response, rising harmonies, vocal textures, and overtone melodies, are used in this extended piece to investigate the symbolic meaning of the objects.

The CD concludes with "Between Sthira and Sukha. This is a phrase from Patanjali's Yogasutras which means between alert steadiness and relaxed comfort. This piece searches to balance those qualities by alternating low Multiphonic voice overtone singing and high falsetto harmonies.

An instructional chart of the each chakra s location, shape, color, sound and associated element is included.』

『The book's title might be "Learning How To Do Yoga Without Turning Yourself Into A Pretzel. No doubt, Mastering the Basic is a better choice for the book's title. The trick to doing yoga is knowing the preliminary moves that eases one into the posture without strain or exertion. This book does just that with illustrations and concise easy to follow text printed next to the illustration.

Make no mistake about it, yoga can become "entwining" but this book stops short of that. From the most elementary posture one progresses to more complicated postures in what seems effortless. The result is, "Hey, look what I can do.".

Therefore knowing what to do and how to do it makes all the difference in the world in sticking with your yoga practice and this book does exactly that. If you ever wanted to learn how to do yoga this book would be a big help in getting you started down that path.』

『I am reviewing the DVD which has two programs: Flexibility Strength and Balance and Deepen&Strengthen.

This dvd is great for beginners. You are lead through a series of warm-ups that are basic to all yoga moves. You learn how to move and hold the body which is essential for a good yoga foundation. There are two sessions. I prefer the Flexibility session to the Deepen and Strengthen.
The 2nd session makes you hold the positions for long periods. The young woman demonstrating the moves is Amazing! This is probably "old school" for many people, but without the foundation, you might as well just be exercising. Not for every day use, but great when I don't feel like twisting my spine into a pretzel.』

(A decent yoga practice focused on strengthening core muscles)
『The title of this video is likely to turn some people off, but it's actually a half-decent yoga program focused mainly on strengthening your core muscles (or "inner sexual core" as it's referred to in the video). The practice begins with several series of sun salutations, adding 3-legged dog, pigeon, and warrior poses to make each series quite challenging (14 minutes total). Next comes 8 minutes of standing postures. This section begins with simple, dance-y hip rolls and stretches then moves on to balancing postures and forward bends, including an extended wide-legged forward bend. The longest segment of the video is the floor work (19 minutes). You will start on your stomach for locust and then flip over to your back for a challenging table/boat series. Also in this series are lying twists, bridge pose, and seated forward bends. Following this, you will do core abs work which includes a pelvic lift series performed with the legs in 3 different positions. Finally, there are some challenging reclined stretches (eg, reclined hero's pose), and then the practice ends with a 4-minute lying guided relaxation, bringing in the total time at just under 40 minutes.

I liked this practice's focus on engaging your "sexual inner core" muscles. Although this is not all that different from engaging your abdominals in other yoga videos, I found the near-constant reminders to be both important and beneficial. Instructor Jacquie Noelle provided good, non-mirrored cuing, but because the overall sound quality was below average, as it was often difficult to hear her instruction. The video also includes occasional on-screen written instruction, but I found that most of the time, I was not in a position to see the TV when these pointers appeared. Finally, I should note this video was not nearly as erotic as the title would suggest. First of all, Jacquie is dressed as erotically as she is on the video cover: during most of the practice, she wears blue satin shorts and a white baby t-shirt, although she later removes the latter to reveal a tank top underneath. The music, which includes slight moaning sounds at times, was a bit more obviously sexual; I barely noticed the music, but it might bother others.

This is definitely an intermediate practice, as Jacquie provides little instruction on how to perform the poses and no modifications are given. More traditional yoga devotees will probably not like this one; I soon tired of it myself, mostly because there are much better options available. However, if you have some prior experience with yoga and are looking for a practice with a different, more modern feel, this video might be a good match.』

『I was not impressed by this tape. The bad camera work (done on a home video with bad audio and picture) combined with the cheesy music and disgusting butt and crotch shots were completely annoying. Not to mention that they spelled "waste" instead of "waist" and "heal" instead of "heel" during the workout!!

Unfortunately, the good workout was hindered by all these aspects. Hopefully I'll memorize it soon so I don't have to look at the tape again. I even emailed the company because I feel the lack of effort they put into the tape disrespects the consumer. The teacher even smiled and shyly waved at someone off camera!!

I wouldn't buy any other tape from this company, which is a shame because I do enjoy the actual workout.』

『I'm fairly new to yoga and have been concentrating on relaxation, stress release and conditioning. I want to try new areas of yoga- and this has turned out to be a fun place to start. The video is up beat and fairly quick, you do not stay in one pose for long, but repeat a series of poses strung together. The video looks like it takes place in a studio, and although the routine is enjoyable the sound is horribe, the room has an echoing effect which makes the voices muffled. The Editors really should have done something about it. You can't understand the instructions and it becomes frustrating when you have to keep glancing up at the television and as a result you can't keep up with the moves, or you lose your balance. Another thing I didn't like was how the camera kept zooming into the instructor's bottom- it was tacky. Her shorts were really short so you saw more than was necessary and it did not help you with the move she was doing. Although the video is ment to be fun that was just plain unprofessional, which is a shame because the instructors otherwise did a really good job.

I would recommend this video for someone who wants a light fun yoga experience, but definately watch the video through once first to get the routines down and read the proper ways to do the poses (they don't verbally tell you, it's written on the screen.)』

『I rented this through Netflix, so had no access to any additional materials that might have been included with it (eye chart, for example).

The only suggestion for improvement I would make is: have a separate workout on the DVD. While Mr. Schneider does go into how long to do each individual exercise when teaching, it would be nice to have a complete, real-time run through on the DVD.

The exercises/warm-up he has you go through before you do any of the eye exercises could also be used as a gentle, yet energizing warm up for other physical exercise--a welcome and unexpected bonus.』

『Meir's book is the most thorough I have ever seen and he is clearly the most qualified having not only recreated his own eyesight sufficiently to have no restrictions on his drivers license, and to have assisted thousands to improve or regain their eyesight. In addition, his work with Muscular Dystrophy is nearly miraculous. Check out his references in this area as you will find it hard to believe that he has made such an impact in this area for which Jerry Lewis campaigns every year and to my knowledge has never even mentioned Meir.』

(Great information, bit slow on the teaching)
『This DVD is based on the Bates' book method that says MOST simple visual blurriness due to nearsightedness or far sightedness is due to eye muscle strain/stiffness, not the cornea or optic nerve (always situations where it is).
This DVD shows exercise that Meir himself came up with based on the book who he himself was born almost totally blind by age 7 who passed the DMV eye exam w/o need for glasses.
I've only gone through some of it, but the simple thing as warming your hands&cupping each eye with each hand for 5 min w/o pressure on the cheek bones was great.
He says most people's eye muscles are stiff from too much reading, tv&computer work¬ enough looking long distances like previous generations. I didn't even think my eyes were stiff until I cupped them. When I was done, OH MY GOD, my eyes felt SSOOO refreshed&I could see slightly better.
As most people, I would think sleeping is the same thing, but he says since that is passive, it does not count as giving your eyes a chance to relax.
The DVD has him teaching another man how to do the exercise which contains an eye chart&simple carboard squares to work on your peripheral vision.
The only reason I took off 1 star was because the teaching is so slow&drawn out I kept getting too bored to finish it.』

Born legally blind, Schneider underwent many operations as a child but was unable to see more than light and shadow; he had to do all of his schoolwork in Braille. Today he is able to drive a car without use of glasses or contacts, after improving his sight holistically. In this video, Schneider shares his techniques, using movements that originate in two main sources: the techniques of ophthalmologist William Bates and Tibetan yoga.

To begin, Schneider instructs you to remove your contacts or glasses (how he expects you to see the screen clearly enough to follow the exercises is not explained). Then he moves on to "palming," a vision-improving exercise. The instruction is thorough, including directions on how to breathe, and the movements are simple and relaxing. The second segment is "Testing Your Vision," in which you're told to make your own eye chart to graph your improvement. "Stimulating Your Peripheral Vision" is next, and it requires three pieces of black construction paper and tape to help you balance the use of both eyes together. "Outdoor Exercises" explains why older people have more vision difficulties and shows how to improve this problem. The final exercises--"Sunning," "Skying," and "Long Swing"--help you to adapt to bright lights.

『These are decent DVD's except I don't understand why each DVD doesn't come with one session including instructional and motivational dialogue from Urla (this is what currently comprises the video) as well as a second session without all the dialogue, maybe with verbal ques on the next move. Urla has one of those nasal, feminine voices that isn't necessarily soothing or nice to listen to during yoga or pilates, in fact it can be downright grating. After three times going through the workouts with Urla's instruction I found myself clutching the remote and fast forwarding through his demos and chat. I find it so annoying that I'm searching for a new DVD set to work with.』

『This DVD provides an excellent workout. A comparable DVD is Louise Solomon's Yoga&Pilates Total Body Toner (of Australia). My only gripe of these videos is that there is no indication of which moves are Pilates moves, Yoga moves or a combination of both. So, as far as breathing goes, it is always inhale or exhale ONLY. I have been taking Yogilates from an instructor who teaches the difference between Pilates and Yoga breathing techniques and when to use them.

『I love this video. The practice is precise and puts you in the moment with her detailed instruction. I do not mind the constant talking as others have mentioned, as it guides me and encourages me. It takes you out of the mindset of the practice just being physical. Am I going to be strong, more flexible? Actually with the slower pace and precise instruction, not to mention correct form, (I realize that I was doing the poses incorrect) it builds muscle because as she is explaining the poses you are holding them. You can feel Seans passion come through where it is contagious. It addresses mind/body and spirit. I will practice this for months and years to come.』

I have seen others complaining about the poses being too basic, but I love the attention she pays to alignment and breath. I think that at any level, you can take your practice as deep as you want, and her flow allows and encourages that. 『What a disappointment this was! I consider myself intermed. level in terms of yoga, although i have been dancing for 22 years and am very active in all exercise routines. I don't know a lot of yoga theory, but I like to do it for strength training, and flexibility and the challenge it provides physically as it relaxes me mentally. So far, i have found nothing that compares to Brian Kests'series, and Mark Blanckard trilogy and Yoga Radiance; Four Seasons of Renewal. I bought this DVD after a yoga teacher recommended it for her vinyasa yoga styl, and that Seane Corn was the big hype amongst the celebrities and such. I had high expectation that were sorely unmet. I was looking for something challenging, and refreshing and this was neither. All of her poses and transitions were entirely too basic, which she only had a few poses for the entire DVD-I kept asking myself - is that it? For example, through out the whole DVD she would only move into cobra and never graduated into up dog, her transition to down dog would always go from knees on the floor up to down dog. This is not my kinda style, especially if there is nothing to work towards for improvement.If you are a pre beginner, or have never had any flexibility, this DVD is perfect for you! otherwise, I would keep looking...Good luck!』

This nearly two foot tall ceramic vase is entirely hand thrown and fully formed on a traditional potter's wheel. The Chinese characters are then etched by hand into the clay before the vase is fired in the kiln. While the body of the vase is left unglazed, the characters are painted with a rich black pearl glaze. The resulting color contrast is both dramatic and evocative of a Zen aesthetic. If you like to de-stress withhout the far out space music that frankly puts me to sleep, you should enjoy Yoga Salon』

『I have really enjoyed what comes from the Sequoia Records label. The "Hotel Tara" label is my favorite release so far but "Yoga Salon" is a close second with a quietier but more exotic flavor throughout the collection. One of my favorites is "Swan" with a slow but beautiful rhythm and gray-sky evening mood and "After the Dance" by David Gordon which is a beautiful mix of jazz, rock, and New Age. This is highly recommended.』
