It is so beautifully rhythmic and Lakshmi's voice is amazing. I'd love to see her in person. The title track "Ocean of Mercy" is truly inspiring. The other album that I've heard of hers "Jewel of Hari" is also a force in itself. I can't say enough...』
(Mercy, what an ocean.) 『Innocence, purity, exuberance and sweetness is Jaya Lakshmi...the album is a musical Lotus Blossom that celebrates harmony and devotion.』
(Ocean Of Mercy, Jaya Lakshmi's first Album...) 『I enjoy this album immensely. However I like her newer album, Jewel of Hari much much better. and the funny thing is that these albums both grew on me, kind of crept up over a period of time. In fact when I first bought Jewel of Hari I actually hated it. No I really hated it. I don't know why, it was just one of those strong first impressions. But what is weird is that I listed it to sell on Amazon, and by the time I had a buyer, I popped it back into the CD player for a listen, and lo and behold, i loved it. So of course I had to ship it out. But I copied some of the songs to my computer. I ended up loving the songs soooo much over time, that I had to go out and get the album again, and this one as well. This is her first album. What a spirited Woman musician. She went against all odds, traveling with her young daughter, a single parent, singing to her guru, and totally emersing herself in Divine Bliss, in the Ocean of Mercy. Smiles to this album.』
(Sweet voice) 『If you enjoy chanting and Kirtan, then this is a great CD to purchase. Jaya Lakshmi has a sweet voice, a voice like and angel. This is a great CD for yoga,(I'm a yoga instructor), even massage, or just plain relaxing.』
(Not Just For A Devotee) 『I would like to think that if something similar to this was first chanted thousands of years ago, it was done with the same soul-filled passion that Jaya Lakshmi does it with. Her beautiful voice and spiritual fervor blend together for a truly unique musical and mystical experience. The music is performed flawlessly, as English mixes with what I think is Sanskrit, in this lovely and moving piece.
Your sweet face is like a million suns flooding my mind
Oh You have captured me with your beauty now this heart is no longer mine
~from Ocean Of Mercy
Fans of music from India are sure to love this. The often upbeat melody, that at times seems almost modern, will also appeal to anyone that is interested in hearing well played music from another culture. The sublime voice of Jaya Lakshmi becomes almost ethereal as she reminds me of a beautiful gopi dancing the Rasa.
Brian Douthit Author Of Perfectly Said: when words become art』 『Immerse yourself in the blissful divine love of ancient mantras and the Sacred Names. Acclaimed vocalist Jaya Lakshami (Lost at Last) is joined by Deva Pryio (Lost at Last) on Flaminco guitar and Sarod, and Daniel Paul on Tabla. Lakshami's sweet, soulful voice is filled with true heart that graces these devotional Sanskrit chants and hypnotic ambient grooves. This incredibly radiant music is perfect for yoga, the healing arts, or for dancing with the joy of being alive! Her blissful blend of Sanskrit chant, flemenco quitar, sarod and ambient grooves will comfort your heart and free your soul.』

IPhone 3G used's review (Save your money) 『I'd say that this video was disappointing. The instructions are fairly good and easy to follow but so much is left out. There needed to be more postures offered. The meditation was okay but I wish she'd not talked so much!』
(Delivers what it offers) 『Ananda Yoga for Emotional Healing delivers on what it says it will. It is an hour-long video that combines hatha yoga poses, breathing exercises, and affirmations, and ends with a guided meditation. Overall, I really enjoyed it. The poses seemed designed for beginners, and Lisa Powers gave step-by-step instructions on how to get into them. The breathing exercises and affirmations were helpful in calming me down. Overall, I came away with a feeling of relaxation, balance, and a little bit of a stretch.
A few words of caution, though. First, the postures in this tape were ideal for me, a beginner to yoga, but may not be challenging for those who are more advanced. On the other hand, for those who are simply looking for a way to relax, this video may still be useful. Second, this tape is not a good one for those looking for exercise videos. Finally, the tape stated that you need a cushion, blanket, and strap. You will need the folded blanket, and may or may not need the cushion. The strap is only necessary for one pose, and then only if you have trouble with your flexibility; I didn't use it at all.
Overall, a very good video, and one that I would recommend.』
『Like another offering from Ananda,Yoga to Awaken the Chakras, this tape focuses more on the inner effects of yoga than on its purely physical benefits. But where the former focuses on the body's sevencharkasas the seat of our emotions,Ananda Yoga for Emotional Healingconcentrates on the emotions themselves. Instructor Lisa Powers, herself a breast cancer survivor, presents hatha yoga as a means to develop "inner strength, calmness, and the ability to respond to life's trials" as well as a vehicle to express your emotions and promote a "stronger flow of positive energy." Thus the various poses demonstrated, such as those for the hamstrings, hips, and shoulders (there are also some backbends, twists, balancing poses, and more), are all referenced to their emotional content. The sphinx pose, for instance, isn't just a simple lying backbend but a way to "overcome fear of failure," whilejanu sirsanasa, the one-legged forward bend, is not only to open the hamstrings but to "release fear and relax the fight-or-flight response." Powers also supplies positive affirmations (such as "I live protected by the infinite light" or "What I do today will create a new and better future, filled with inner joy") to accompany many of the postures, as well as a lengthy guided relaxation at the end. Will they work? Can yoga really be used to expunge jealousy, anger or grief? That will be up to you. If you can cast aside cynicism and doubt, then surrender to the power of the breath and the poses, you might be surprised.--Sam Graham』
IPhone 3G used's review (I really like this DVD) 『I really like this DVD. It doesn't go through the whole primary series. It just goes through the two sun salutations and the standing poses, but I'm new enough to need that because I'm not ready for the whole series. It's also slower paced for beginner's to get used to the correct form. She explain's in her interview that she purposely leaves out the whole series because she's taught long enough to know what beginner's can handle. If you are looking for more of the primary series on DVD, Richard Freeman has a three DVD set of very challenging moves. I'm starting out with this DVD first. Yes, she has that Lilith voice, but I thought it was pretty funny.』
(Exceptional experience) 『I bought this on VHS with out any prior knowlege of yoga at all. I am very pleased that this has been my introduction. This video shows that Yoga is a real life "practice" not just a form of exercise. The first time I did it after the "A" series I was done! But something deeply quiet was created inside of me by it...and it stayed with me for a while... so I kept going back to it...Now I can do the entire session and the positive effects, mental and physical... are amazing. I really appreciate that the instructor seems to expect the viewer to be able to do the exercises, she speaks with an authority that pushes you to want to do the movements correctly. Which after all is the point!

(A Beautiful Introduction Into Ashtanga Yoga `For Mere Mortals'.) 『Ten years ago (in 1998) I was taking an Ashtanga Yoga class with a talented if not overly ambitious instructor. For a few months I was doing fine and enjoying the many benefits of the practice, but I took on too much too soon and pinched a nerve in my leg. I shied away thinking it was not for me. I'm 45 and still `active' and just last year I fell off my mountain bike and fractured my clavicle and tore muscle and cartilage in both my shoulders. Not wanting to wallow too long in my new pain and suffering I went to the library to find this superb "beginners practice" DVD with my new hero Nicki Doane. After returning the library's copy I went here on [...] to purchase my own. I do the Sun Salutations A&B by following the DVD 5-6 times a week and my shoulder flexibility and strength after 5 weeks is in amazing recovery. The DVD is superbly filmed and produced on Maui on a verdant mountain spot. Nicki Doane is so clear and so confident that I look forward to my early morning sessions nearly every day. Knowing my humble origins, post surgery, I recommend this DVD for anyone who believes in the body's ability to heal itself - given the proper framework.』
(Good, but for experience beginners+) 『This is NOT a DVD for novices, so I think the title is misleading. But if you have learned some yoga and are a bit flexible, this is a good guided workout to surya namaskar and some other useful forward and side bends.
Nicky Doane's voice is very deadpan, rather horrible, the worst part of the DVD, she should take some voice lessons. Inflection is not a bad thing. I don't expect her to talk like Bob Barker, but the tone makes it sound as if the yoga has not impacted her interior life that much.
And the chanting with harmony, that seems a bit strange to me. I guess I'm a traditionalist in that I like the melodic chanting, but throwing in Western harmonies on top of it is ... ick.
But those are my only complaints about this DVD (both sound related!). The scenery behind the beautifully filmed and choreographed shots is exquisite and Ms. Doane's movement and form are near to perfect, and that's what we came for. The DVD features are pretty good (additional instruction for exercise segments) with decent navigational features. And I do like the use of the tabla + tambura as the background sound (though Hawaiian waves would've been cool too.)』
(I do not recomment this DVD) 『I bought this DVD dispite the fact that I read reviews that were bad. . .why did I do that? Because I had purchased other Gaiam DVD's that I like. I should have listened to those buyer beware remarks.
Unless you like hearing the instructor chant and you in return are suppose to chant back then don't buy this.
I am not buying Yoga DVD's for a spiritual awaking. . .I am buying them for exercise.』 『Yoga Journal's Ashtanga Yoga: Beginners Practicecombines breathing and standing poses, including many repetitions of two different Sun Salutations, then various standing forward bends, and side angle bends for balance, flexibility, and strength. The pace of this 67-minute practice is slow, calming, and physically challenging. Remarkably fluid and flexible instructor Nicki Doane explains clearly and in detail how to do each pose and integrate the breathing. Although called a "beginners practice," true beginners will find it challenging, and no modifications are demonstrated for the less flexible, although of course you are instructed to stay at your own level. Recommended as your second stage after mastering Yoga Journal's Ashtanga Yoga introductory series. The Hawaiian setting of this beautifully produced video is gorgeous and serene.--Joan Price』
IPhone 3G used's review (Yoga for Strength) 『This video is wonderful!! I find it very challenging, not for beginners, but a perfect addition to any yoga library. There were new and interesting poses, as well as some of my personal favorites.』
(Yoga for Strength) 『This video is wonderful!! I find it very challenging, not for beginners, but a perfect addition to any yoga library. There were new and interesting poses, as well as some of my personal favorites.』
(Not satisfied) 『I found this tape to not be very challenging at all. Linda Arkin might be a good teacher, and very concerned with proper technique, but the pacing is much too slow. She also talks throughout the entire tape, and spends the first 15 minutes of a 45-minute tape on chatty introductions to the sequences. That leaves 1/2 hour to practice 3 or 4 moves. If you're looking to build on previous yoga knowledge, then this tape is not for you.』
(Enjoyable) 『I am enjoying this tape and feel like I am getting some good out of it. Linda is a good instructor. She does each sequence of poses three times and I am able to push a little further each time. There is a second instructor who shows an advanced form of the poses. There is not a wide variety of poses in this tape but she keeps you moving throughout the routine. I have all four of her tapes and this is not my favorite but it is still good. There are a few times when she doesn't cue pose changes when you are not looking at the TV.』
(Great for beginners) 『Linda Arkin explains the poses thoroughly and doesn't rush. Since more challenging poses are also demonstrated, you can stick with this video for a long time. I did get a little burned out on the synthesizer music in the background, but the scenery is beautiful.』
IPhone 3G used's review (Easy to follow, effective workout) 『An excellent workout that I used throughout my pregnancy, up to two days before delivery. As other reviewers have explained, it is broken into several sections so you can do as much or as little as you like. Very easy follow I am aware that FitMama has been criticised for being repetitive - this was a bonus for me as my brain went AWOL during pregnancy. A safe, enjoyable workout that produced a light sweat and I didn't have to think too much about it!』
("Haven't I done this before" or "Boring, boring, boring") 『I have only done the yoga workout, but it's the same basic moves over and over. By the fourth rotation I was looking for a new challenge, but never got it. For someone who's in pretty good shape, or who is use to a diverse workout this DVD won't keep you going.』
(best one I tried) 『I liked Leisa Hart and appreciated her energy level and bubbly personality. The workout itself was boring as it was VERY repetitive and I kept wanting to change it up a bit.』
(Boring workout, even for a beginner) 『I got this DVD when I was pregnant with my first two years ago. I only did it a few times before switching over to a different tape. I picked it up again now that I am pregnant with my second, and after two times using it, I think I want to throw it out the window. It's just really boring. She introduces four different sequences and repeats them over and over again with no variation. Once you've done it, you've done it. I want more different exercises to do. I also feel like there isn't enough stretching, which I really need.
My biggest complaint is that there isn't enough instruction. She doesn't say where you should feel a particular exercise or stretch. She isn't specific enough about how to position your arms and legs, feet and hips. And she goes too fast when introducing a new sequence, and I felt like I couldn't figure out how to do it correctly.
For beginners it's not too strenuous, and she keeps reminding you to listen to your body, drink water if you need, take a break if you need it. The main plus is that you can choose between the salsa dancing or the yoga, or if you are at a higher fitness level, you can do both. She also has a section dedicated to labor and delivery prep, including Kegels and abdominal work.』
(Very Good Workout) 『Very good workout. I should have done it more during my pregnancy, but I took it easy a lot. I would recommend for anyone trying to stay in shape during pregnancy.』 『If you're a mother-to-be, but need some kind of exercise other than downward-facing dog and mountain pose,Leisa Hart's FitMamamay be the workout for you. Developed by the fitness instructor during her first pregnancy, the DVD involves not just stretching but salsa dancing, stretches, and breathing exercises shaped to ease some of the discomforts of pregnancy, get your body in its best physical form, and prepare itself for labor and delivery. The effortlessly perky Hart works out alongside several women in various stages of pregnancy to show alternative moves and postures. She doesn't constantly bark "You can do it!" but rather urges you to do whatever is comfortable. But even with the lack of pressure, you can still enjoy the hip-swiveling salsa steps while working up a good sweat. Then cool down with the breathing section and stretches. You'll need a mat and pillow. An exercise ball and strap (you can use a towel) are also used but not required. Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Power to the Peaceful Yoga) 『Sharon and David have produced yet another amazing DVD with Acacia. This one is a little shorter (1hour) and offers a nice variety of modifications to fit all levels. The extras are great with a Satsang talk with gentle giant Michael Franti, a couple of music clips and great bios on all three. This DVD has life changing potential. If you love Yoga, you'll love this.』
(Feel happy and free) 『Highly, highly recommend Power to the Peaceful Yoga for all yoga practicioners interested in deepening their experience and carrying it into their daily lives as workers for a more peaceful and kind world. Also highly, highly recommended for social justice activists who want to tap into the powerful, mindful and positive energy that Michael Franti brings to his art and all that he does.
The yoga moves are fairly challenging with breathing exercises mixed in. I consider myself to be intermediate, and it will take me some time to get them down and be able to keep up with the fairly quick pace of the film. There are a few great extras, including a conversation between Michael Franti, Sharon Gannon and David Life, as well as live music performances by Michael Franti. This is a great film.』 『Can you be the peace you want to see in the world? Here's the place to start.

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (what a waste) 『I ordered this based on other reviews. I don't believe the facial muscles can be worked out or improved this way and found it a complete waste of time and money. I'm sticking with Senta Maria Runge's "Face Lifting by Excercise".』
(Great product) 『The images and music are very beautiful. After several times of practising, I can do the whole routine by myself. The skin around my eyes are tightened. It's especially working for my neck. I used to feel sore all the time since I'm working on computer whole day. Now I don't feel anything!』
(It works) 『A great product. I have been using it for over a year. It works all of the facial muscles.』
(pretty good...) 『but not great. The pace is slow/boring and some of the exercises will exaggerate or create wrinkles. I like the "facercise" DVDs by Carol Maggio much better.』
(Not enough resistance to create dramatic change!!!) 『Pretty models are not important to me when learning facial exercises. I want a concise program focused on the exercises and enough resistance to create dramatic changes in my facial muscles. I exercise my body and feel that exercising my face is equally important. This program is too long and doesn't provide enough facial changes.』 『Because the muscles don't end at the neck! Our face, constantly exposed, is our calling card. We may have toned bodies and great skin, but once our facial and neck muscles sag; they make us look tired, drained and old. Facial and neck muscles can be exercised just like any other muscle, to strengthen and sculpt it anew. The exercises illustrated in this DVD provide a great foundation for daily workouts that will naturally lift, strengthen and sculpt those muscles, creating a refreshed look that is firm and youthful. IPhone 3G used's review (Yoga Mat) 『This Yoga Mat is super. The extra length is a big plus and the price was unbelievable.』
(The Perfect Yoga Mat) 『This yoga mat is incredibly comfortable and easy to use. I love the fact that you can fold it up and fit it anywhere. It gives the perfect amount of comfort!』
(Not a bad mat) 『I like the length and comfort. The only thing is it lost it's stickiness. My hands slip when doing downward facing dog. 』
(Nice, but I wish it were thicker.) 『I was expecting something thicker, like what you find at the gym. Nevertheless it is very durable and still provides more 'give' than being directly on the floor. The red color is a bit orange but you'll never lose it either way.』
(Yoga mat) 『We were very happy with our mats, the color was a little off on the red one as compared to the web site photo, but the blue one was right on. Perfect for pilates.』 『Our Yoga mat came from the desire to provide the finest yoga sticky mat at the best price. We feel that most 1/8 inch thick sticky mats are too thin and soft and simply do not provide enough cushion to ones knees, ankles and other sensitive bones for comfortable yoga practice. Yoga mat is 140% thicker measuring 1/4" thickness and with more density. We wanted a mat that was longer than 68" so that we wouldn't have to adjust our position so often to stay on the mat such as having your face be on the mat during chattaranga rather than touching the studio floor. Yoga mat is 72 inches long which accommodates taller people as well. We also noticed that mats wear out in a couple of areas and on only one side of the mat, the textured side which is always facing up. Yoga mat has a textured traction surface on both sides of the mat so both sides of the mat can be used thus lasting twice as long. We feel standard yoga mats are sort of drab and boring with few color options.』
