Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (eh) 『I liked their first production best. I can't make this one work for my yoga classes. The Om Mani Padme Hum is too sinister sounding to my ear. In fact the first time I played this cd to class I wasn't expecting this song, and when it came on with it's long low OM and this tapping or loud clicking sound that is interjected into the chant,I just about popped out of my pose. I turned the music down, apologized and continued teaching without music. Don't get me wrong I love 'yoga music', and I love the om mani padme hum chants. I own many yoga cds and make my own mixes for teaching classes but this cd sits in the back of the collection. It serves as a reminder that I should listen to the whole cd before deciding to play it in class.』
(Soothing) 『I find this CD very soothing to meditate or while practicing asanas. There is nothing annoying about it.』 『Max Strom is the co-founder of Sacred Movement Center for Yoga&Healing, one of the premier yoga studios in the United States. White Swan Records asked Max to provide us with some of the special music he uses in his classes for shavasana, or deep relaxation. According to Max:Shavasana is the final relaxation pose we do at the end of our Hatha Yoga practice. We simply lay on our back, spread open the limbs a bit and close our eyes. Here, we intentionally release all effort and concentration as we finally surrender to the present moment, like someone returning home after a long journey. As our prana (life-force) radiates, we feel like energy is moving throughout our body--and that is, in fact, what is happening. The energy meridians are open and we feel the weight of the world lift from our chest. My music selections for shavasana are always gentle, ethereal and nurturing. With music for yoga still in great demand, SHAVASANA will satisfy yogis seeking the ideal sound for winding down their daily practice. This calming set of beautiful pieces is especially selected by Max for repose, meditation, and healing work. SHAVASANA's quiet world exemplifies the saying "still waters run deep."』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Beyond Yoga) 『This compilation is listed as being beneficial for meditation and yoga, but what strikes me most powerfully about this CD is something more and beyond, which is its air of spiritual sensuality. It took me several listenings to connect with this aspect of the recordings - the long sustained notes and harmonies worked on my senses as well as the other aspects it was intended for. One reader found the first title, "Black Marble and Sweet Fire" dark and oppressive, and I too found it somewhat somber at first, but now it may be my favorite track. Its slow sensual brooding is quite wonderful. The cover art and colors reinforce this aspect of the compilation also, making me think its intention embraced this facet of the music. I love it.』
(Empowering Sounds for a Deeper Meditation Experience) 『While most yoga music contains popular New Age melodies and soft, light-hearted, almost fabricated attempts, this is a real winner. I am an instructor of Qi Gong at Furman University and use this in my more advanced classes. The most powerful aspect, perhaps, lies in the depth of the music and in its resonating power. I highly recommend you try it out as well for yourself.』
(Ambiance is sardonic and dark) 『I was surprised by the the music on this CD, the title "Slow Music for Yoga" gave me the impression that this would be gentle and relaxing music. The two first tracks are dark and dismal. The ambiance, if you like the sort of feeling is oppressive and foreboding. This was not the sort of setting I wished to experience in a yoga practice. 』
(excellent compilation) 『This album is an excellent compilation of very relaxing and soothing music not just to accompany your yoga practice or meditation but also to listen to and"let go"of your daily tensions. I've used it in my everyday yoga practice and it sure puts me in a meditative mood and helps me keep concentrated on the flow of postures and breath coordination; but I also listen to it while driving, on my way to work, and sure takes the stress away out of being stuck in rush hour traffic. As the title implies, this is a compilation of slow music, I rather called"inspirational", and is not only for yoga but is excellent as stress relieve ambient music in your home or office. I even played when I've a few friends over for drinks and conversation and creates a great background music.』 『Nearly 70 minutes of Eastern-by-ambient soundscape,Slow Music for Yogais culled from the Hearts of Space catalogue and includes unreleased material from both German pop composer Thomas Barquee and the exceptional devotional duo Rasa. From the outset, these pieces take the tack of mindful meandering, as they follow a comfortable, comforting pace. Warm and rhythmic, the sounds slow the pulse of the listener and call for focus on languid movement and openhearted clarity. Designed to enhance and accompany yoga practice,Slow Music for Yogais a handpicked collection of dissonant Eastern melody married to vocals and synthesizers in a reverential approach. Particularly enjoyable as a morning soundtrack,Slow Musicalso befits other types of body work, such as massage, breathing, visualizing exercises, and gentle stretching.--Paige La Grone』

(Modern-day Satie) 『I have been scouring for music to use during healing imagery sessions. I wanted something quiet, clear and fresh. Music that could stand on its own but not overwhelm or bore. This album is perfect. It is lyrical, uncomplicated, and fills an hour without breaks in between. I also find myself listening to it at other times. With candlight, sets a calming mood.』
(Great!) 『I listen to this CD all the time, especially when I've had a stressful day.』
(Nice, but not quite right for bodywork sessions) 『This is a sweet, quiet album, however, it doesn't quite work for a massage therapy or other bodywork sessions. While the music itself is not intrusive, there are occasional "bum" and off notes that filter in through the hour-long piece that can be distracting in a quiet bodywork session. While this would not be a problem if the music is just serving as background sound as you do other things, in a massage, a client's mind looks to the music for calm and focus. For many, music is an essential component of the relaxation response during a massage. I used this with a number of my regular clients and they each were distracted or jarred when an off note tumbled by. I certainly understand that one can't be perfect over an hour-long performance, but I find this unsuitable for massage for that reason.』
(Masterpiece!) 『River Dawn moves me. I often play it while working, while relaxing, while dining, and many other occasions. This disc is passionate, romantic, and soothing. This disc would fit nicely in anyone's collection....check it out.』 『You will want to play this album again again and again, for calming, soothing background music.

IPhone 3G used's review (My kids and I like this video) 『I have this and "Yoga Kids" and we like them both. My children are now 11, 8 and 6 but we've been using this since they were 2, 4 and 7. My guys like to watch it, like the music, sing the songs on their own now and then and like doing the poses. "Yoga Kids" might be better for beginners or kids new to yoga but we like them both fine. I didn't find anything "tasteless" or "creepy" about this video. I think it's perfectly fine for kids and I would recommend it to other parents.』
(What a joke!) 『I bought this video to begin yoga with my daughter and it was a huge disappointment. My three year old would not even watch for a minute.』
(Ewww!) 『The video was a mess from the beginning. The tape quality was extremely poor. The video had weird scenes like wind blowing very strong, I thought the kids would be blown into Oz. The instructor was performing poses that most children would not be able to do. The tone of the video was too strange for mainstream. I agree with the reviewers that called this video"creepy".』
(E-I-E-I Yoga) 『I love this video because it keeps my twin 2 year-old daughter and son interested while I stretch. Of course, it isn't like doing yoga on my own but that rarely happens. So, this is an excellent alternative. Plus I like the idea they are being introduced to yoga in a way they enjoy. One of the reasons it may be such a hit with my children is they love the song,"Old MacDonald". The video uses the farm/animal theme. My 2 year olds can't do all the postures but they do what they can and have fun doing it. Then we dance when the music speeds up and have a great time.』
(Best video I have ever bought) 『My oldest daughter loves this video so much. When the weather is bad I know she can still do some exercise and what a fun way to do it. She is getting better and better at the poses and it is presented in such a non-threatening way that she doesn't mind that she isn't as flexible of some of the kids on the video. I highly reccomend it. I enjoy doing the video with her, and my 4 year old is starting to do the poses as well.』 『Ei Ei Yoga provides children with a balanced and fun practice, combining 25 yoga postures that create strength, balance, flexibility and stamina.』

The instruction and methods are gentle and encouraging and are an excellent practice for a beginner or for one who is returning to a yoga practice. This is also excellent to use for a relaxation with yoga program. Larry Payne is an excellent teacher/demonstrator and the quality of this video is excellent- visual and sound. Highly recommended by this yoga student!』
(Love this video) 『I own over 40 yoga videos and this is my absolute favorite. Larry Payne is by far the best teacher.』
(A great way to start the day!) 『I found this video to be especially helpful at teaching the basic poses, with an ability to extend yourself more if you choose to. Larry Payne has a very calming voice, and his instructions are specific and easy to follow. A great way to wake up in the morning to get the body going, or before bed to sleep deeply. A wonderful yoga video for any level!』
(Relaxing Yoga) 『I have many Yoga videos by different instructors but since purchasing this video I have no desire to use the others. I find Larry Payne undoubtedly the best teacher. His instructions are told simply in a relaxing voice and the dynamic and static way of doing the poses is excellent. I also love the fact that there is no time wasted at the beginning of the video waiting for adverts to come to an end - Larry Payne goes straight to work. I have purchased his other Yoga video 'Yoga for a User Friendly Back'which is also excellent. Please Larry hurry up and get another Yoga video recorded.』
(Excellent video) 『This is a 30 minute video in two segments of 15 minutes. The first segment is standing poses followed by a relaxation pose. The second segment is floor poses followed by a relaxation pose. The setting is outside, near a lovely pool with hills in the background. I enjoy this video after strenuous exercise, particularly the standing poses which have good stretch sequences. The entire video is also very relaxing. You feel warm, relaxed and comfortable after this video. Larry's voice over is clear, understandable and soothing. Great video, so glad I have it!』 『Larry Payne, a Ph.D. and Los Angeles-based yoga teacher, has put together a yoga program that lives up to its title. Power yoga this ain't; rather than touting the virtues of yoga as aerobic, strength-building exercise,User Friendly Yogapresents it primarily as a tool for stress and tension reduction, incorporating simple forward bends, backbends, standing poses, twists, and various stretching and balancing poses in a gentle, easy-to-follow sequence designed for those who are new to the discipline (with slightly more difficult variations demonstrated for more advanced users). Payne is a soothing, nurturing presence, constantly emphasizing the importance of the breath and the personal, noncompetitive aspects of yoga ("challenge yourself, don't strain yourself" is one of his mantras). He even suggests watching the 30-minute program all the way through once before trying the poses. Good Times Video
IPhone 3G used's review (Fantastic!) 『This is a really nice, no frills, ashtanga video. Baron is very thorough, and gives lots of tips on holding the poses accurately. This video is also unusual, in that there is a focus on the bandhas, the two abdominal areas you are supposed to tighten in most of the poses. These are key in yoga, but usually overlooked in videos. Baron is also a great instructor, as he manages to be warm and challenging without being perky, cheesy, or demanding. Overall, I am very excited about this video. I was hoping to find something to replace my modified primary series ashtanga class (on days when i'm unable to make it to class), and this is absolutely perfect!』
(Baron's Approach to The Ashtanga First Series) 『This is the third tape in the three-part Baptiste"Power Yoga"series. It is essentially the Ashtanga Yoga First Series split in half to make a 45-minute session, which makes the tape sort of like David Swenson's Short Forms tape. I like Baron quite well, and this is a nice chance for more fitness-oriented Yoga practitioners to explore more advanced elements of Yoga like breathing technique, abdominal locks and gazing points. It is also, of course, a great workout, although it focuses a bit more on the poses and less on vinyasa or movement flow. Never fear, though, you will definitely breathe deeply and sweat.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Strong video but a few minor flaws) 『I really enjoyed this DVD. It has a nice slow flow to it and does allow you time to adjust to a pose or work your way into a fairly difficult pose. I think this is a solid intermediate level DVD, there are some challenging poses in the way of back bends and balance poses, but for the most part the DVD is doable. My problems with this DVD was the occasional lighting where all you could see would be shadows (but I think that was to highlight the ocean scenery) and another sequence would have been good as well (either a shorter one of maybe 30-40 minutes or a longer one of 90 minutes or so). Otherwise, this is a nice DVD, the instructor was really good, and look forward to more of her DVDs. Overall this is DVD is more like 4.5 stars.』
(Pretty good...) 『The content is pretty good but the picture quality can be pretty bad at times. A lot of the shots are dark, so you can't really see what they are doing. You see shadows of the people and a beautiful background of the beach.』
(Great intermediate practice tool) 『I have been practicing yoga for a while and although I still use and enjoy my beginner to intermediate videos, I needed to add a little more challenge to my practice. This Vinyasa Flow Yoga video is just about perfect for the intermediate level.
The video is broken up into asanas, any of which you can easily skip if you don't want to/don't have time to/don't feel comfortable. All you do is push the "skip/next scene" button on your DVD remote and you are immediately taken to the next asana. I really like this feature.
Also, there are three different types of music you can pick to listen to as the background for the DVD. I think this is a great feature because the music really does build, ebb, and flow in keeping with the asanas. The music helps you stay at the right energy level.
There is also an option to turn the instructor's voice off and have a timing sort of "metronome" to remind you of when to switch poses, etc. I haven't used this yet, but I'm sure I will after a while, as I start to memorize and become tired of hearing all the instructions over and over :)
In the balancing asanas, towards the end, there are some pretty advanced poses. I am one of those people who looks at the yoga girls on screen and thinks "if they can do it then I can do it!" and therefore I have definitely been challenged to perfect (or, in one case, even PERFORM) a few of the advanced poses. But I did buy this video hoping for a challenge, so I am glad there are things on the DVD that I can't already do. It gives me something to work toward. I'd say 90% of the asanas are intermediate and I had no problem with them, and then 10% are advanced and I have varying levels of difficulty with the poses.
The only real negative thing I can think of is that the DVD only has one lesson on it. Lots of yoga videos have several different lessons you can choose from (arms focus, legs focus, full body flow, etc). This DVD has ONE LESSON, and that's it. So if you're looking for a more diverse practice tool, this is probably not your best pick.
All said, I enjoy this DVD quite a bit, and am very happy that I have added it to my collection. From being able to skip through asanas and make the practice length fit with my schedule, to picking my own music, to having challenging poses to work towards, it has been a good fit all around. 』
(Peaceful yet challenging) 『This is one of my favourite yoga DVDs because it offers enough challenges through a flow that also encourages the practitioner to turn his or her spirit inward. Pedersen's voice is firm yet soft, and this perhaps best describes her routine, which also distinguishes itself in the two following ways. First, she begins the DVD with a warmup flow that is not a sun salutation. This is a nice variation from other routines. Second, although most poses are traditional, a few stray from the beaten path and thus provide a fresh approach to one's practice. Finally, the cinematography underscores the stunning beauty of the beach backdrop.』
(Expected more) 『Kind of disapointed with this DVD. It is for beginner/intermediate levels, I was expecting something more challenging. Though it is nice to see and follow the outdoors practice, production could be more careful with the views, cleanse the camera'a lense, etc.
The sequence is very repetitive (eg. the warrior sequence at the beginning) and the instructor is never steady at the poses, she's always moving giving the impression that she cant stabilize herself.... I've seen better and more professional DVDs. I also got Vinyasa Flow by Maral Hadidi, muchhh better and a lot more challenging and professional!』 『Ignite your life force and purify your body through the union of breath and movement. Christina Pedersen offers you a unique and complete yoga practice designed to strengthen, tone and detoxify the body while reconnecting with your breath and calming your mind. Christina is a Kripalu certified yoga instructor who has been practicing yoga since 1996. IPhone 3G used's review (Yoga book) 『I gave this book to my 22-year-old son for his birthday. I love the clear descriptions of the poses, the photographs, and the layout of the book in general. I also like the upbeat, youthful approach of Mr. Baptiste.』
(Too disjointed) 『I love Baron and I should preface this review by saying I have considerable Power Yoga experience, though I'm far from expert. I also have to work within some physical limitations.
That said, I found this video far too slow and disjointed and, as one reviewer said, too easy even for beginners. It had no flow like you expect in vinyasa yoga.
I would say that if you need to learn the very basic poses this would be a good video. But if you want a short practice that flows, this is not a good video for you.
I would suggest a Bryan Kest video or most any other Baron Baptiste videos. But just not this one.
I enjoy short practices and Rodney Yee, Bryan Kest and even Baron have some very good ones. I would pass on this unless you are a real novice and need to understand the basic poses.』
(Enjoyable practice) 『I am really enjoying this DVD. It is 30 minutes of a moderately challenging power flow. I am pretty physically fit already from an intensive yoga practice and I also do Karate 3-4 times per week. This is for me a great quick practice when I want to vary my routine.』
(Good for experienced beginners.) 『I think is a great yoga dvd. It is a worthwhile substitute to attending a Baron Baptiste yoga class. While the instruction is superb I still find there are a few flaws with the DVD. The instruction assumes that you have an understanding of how to assume the poses, as well as the ability to do them correctly.
This is not a DVD for the total beginner, who has no knowledge or experience of yoga. There is no accompanying instruction or breakdown on the postures. I think someone entirely new to yoga would be lost trying to follow this program. Also there are a few minor mistakes in the instruction that might confuse the viewer.
If you have no experience or undestanding of yoga I suggest you first try the Yoga Zone DVDs which have slower instruction and repeat the steps for each pose so you can see how they are done. I also suggest for the complete beginner to attend a yoga class to get at least a foundation on yoga postures and learn the proper way to do them.
Though I don't think this DVD is easy for the total beginner, I think those with a basic knowledge of yoga would greatly enjoy it. It moves quickly and flowingly. It is not slow and sedative like some of the yoga DVDs out there. It keeps a quick pace that is easy to follow and does not bore you or let your mind wander.
It is definitely good for strength and stamina building without being too challenging. I consider this to be one of the best yoga DVDs Baron Baptiste has done.
』
(Baron, Great As Always!) 『I have a very extensive Yoga DVD/Video collection (over 80 and counting). Out of all of them, Baron is definitely my overall favorite teacher, hands down!
This program is a 30 minute, moderate intensity vinyasa flow. It is similar in intensity with Baron's "Unlocking Athletic Power" and "Core Power" programs in terms of length and difficulty. It's slightly more intense (mostly just by virtue of being 10 minutes longer) than his "Power Yoga Basics" program which is found on his "Transform Your Life, Yoga With Baron Baptiste" which was originally aired on PBS.
This "Journey Into Power" Level 1 program is very well rounded, has clear instruction and a nice overall feel to it. It's a class setting so you get to see lots of different ways of doing the poses.
Baron has a wonderful approach in that students should use their intuition to approach the poses at their own level of ability or energy level on any given day. You should go to your own personal "edge" without going into overwhelm.
I've been doing Yoga daily for over 7 years and found this DVD very useful for a shorter practice. My 12 year old football playing son has worked with Baron's programs and has gotten tremendous benefits from them (and did this particular DVD this morning) and my wife who is fairly new to yoga jumped right in to this program and has really enjoyed it and is making wonderful progress in strength and flexibility after only doing it for about 4 or 5 days. She also loves Baron's approach which is not intimidating even though she still finds it challenging enough to make her feel like she's getting benefits from it.
I hope this review helps those who are interested in trying a vinyasa (flow) based style of yoga, those curious about Baron as a teacher in particular or those who may be familiar with Baptise Power Vinyasa Yoga but are looking for a shorter practice to mix in with their other programs.

(Wonderful fertility yoga practice) 『I use this dvd on an almost daily basis and have found it wonderfully relaxing and gentle... just what I need from a yoga practice at this point in my life. I also take the Pulling Down the Moon yoga classes in Washington DC and have found the instructor and the practice to be a great support to me. The dvd is very similar to what we do in person. I highly recommend this dvd to women who are looking to supplement their fertility holistic care with an at-home yoga practice.』
(Great and gentle practices) 『The practices that Tami and Beth have created here are gentle, so special for women like us going through this journey. This is not the time to do hard core yoga or stretch like a pretzel, more to use yoga to gently exercise, relax, open up and let go- and this is exactly what this DVD helps you do.
This program was created by these two women that have experienced themselves all the emotions and stress of infertility and who used yoga as a way get grounded and balanced.
The DVD separates Breathing, Visualizations, Asana (postures)practice, Meditation, etc.. in different chapters so you can do just one at a time, in whatever order you feel like. The music and their voices are subtle and gentle and the sceneries and pictures they use are beautiful!
As a Chicago resident, I am lucky enough to be able to go to their holistic center for fertility- Pulling Down the Moon. A beautiful space with great services like acupuncture, massage, nutrition, yoga, among others. Can't wait for their book (Fully Fertile) to come out! This is my second month going to the center and doing their yoga practices and I feel 1000% better!
