Why YogaChair feels so different and so good.
As you sit in a regular chair your core muscles relax. Your spine and your shoulders collapse into your pelvis and put a strain on back muscles, especially your lower back muscles. Notice your posture and how you feel when sitting in a regular chair after only a very short period of time. Its probably not good; you certainly don't feel the expansiveness in your lower and mid-back area that you feel while sitting on the YogaChair. When sitting on YogaChair your spine naturally lifts out of your pelvis area. You can actually feel your spine comfortably extending from your pelvis without any effort. As your spine extends from your pelvis while sitting you can feel your lower, middle and upper back muscles relax. Your entire body, including your vital organs, are less constricted. The improved sitting position is healthier for your body and allows you to sit comfortably for long periods of time. Your body will find a natural sitting position, just from sitting on YogaChair. You can test this comparison on a regular chair. Sit on the end of your chair, feet flat on the floor with your back not touching the back of your chair. Feel how your spine extends out from your rear end. Unfortunately, it is difficult to undo years of repetition and we do not sit properly in a regular chair for more than a few momentsIn a YogaChair you do not have to think about sitting properly. The design of YogaChair accomplishes that and sitting is easy.』 fetish『 The Om Sound - Sacred Sounds Vol. 1 』

The OM sound, which is the sound of all creation in the universe, gives the listener the ability to resonate into the earth frequency which is what the music is tuned to. When you truly meditate into the sound you can feel a transformation happening deep in your chest while your heart rate begins to dance with the OM sound! As you become one with the sound, a beautiful cosmic choir begins to unfold between the notes. This magical experience is different every time you listen to the CD. I would recommend this CD to anyone who truly wants to experience the power of sound! I listen to this CD every single day and it keeps me balanced and tuned into the present moment. It is also excellent for sound healing, insomnia, yoga and meditation, stress relief and pure relaxation. I have a 12 year old son that goes into deep relaxation through the power of this magical music. This CD will become a part of your daily life and it is a gift to humanity. Thank you Suzanne for creating this piece of music to help enlighten and connect humanity through sound.』
(Classic hypnotic) 『One low base synth organ like chord held constant throughout the piece, with small variations in the background barely perceptible, almost subconscious. My non 'New Age Music' friends just stare at me blank and say "I could have done that with one finger!" It's the small variations in the background that hold it together. This is music that's always changing yet always the same. An interesting paradox that she has superbly mastered. If you just glance at it it's just a base chord, but if you listen closely, there's always things happening, so it never gets stale. Hypnotic music to meditate by. (Very hypnotic)』 『The Sacred Sounds series consists of recordings of sounds that release encoded metaphysical information, while being played. The listener and the environment are being harmonized on a very deep level, by resonating to the Sacred Sounds which not only retune the cells of the body, but also retune mind and soul. Effortless balance can be achieved without even paying attention to the music or the sound that carries it. One can feel the energy of the environment being completely transformed. THE OM SOUND consists of one continuous track of 59 minutes. Ideal for meditation, massage, healing, especially REIKI and sleep therapy, it has been used successfully by many teachers, masters and healers. The creation of THE OM SOUND is based on many teachings and secret knowledge that has not been available to mankind for thousands of years. But the Keepers of Sound from many cultures have kept this knowledge and information, which has been encoded in these recordings alive! over the centuries. Oral and written information, intuition and channeling, scientific studies, artistic and visionary creativity has been used to create a series of recordings that facilitates the ancient wisdom of sound.』

This CD, I guess by being both haunting (in places) and exotic, regularly transports me: to the moon, and back, and to a few richly textured places in between. FOr instance, I love to paint to this music. Listen ... and then listen again. You'll go inside and love the journey it awakens within. Pretty soulful stuff...all with great rhythms and sounds.』
(Wonderful Meditative Music) 『This is a fantastic CD. I use it for my yoga classes.』
(not her best) 『I love Gabrielle Roth, and have worn out copies of "initiation" and "bones", but this CD just gathers dust for me insteading of making me want to dance.』
(Unique) 『Too many albums put the word"Tibetan"in the title and end up being the artificial flavor of the month. This CD, on the other hand, is the only one I've found (and I've bought dozens looking) that really bridges the gap between the Tibetan sense of sacred mystery, and the musical vernacular of the west. And with a Russian rock star no less! Listen to this album, and you will find your mind has reached a still place that other"Tibetan"music cannot touch.
For those who are addicted to the western sound"byte"culture, a five word review: YOU MUST BUY THIS ALBUM!』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Way too fast) 『This DVD is more about workout and less about yoga. Yoga has to be slow - you need to feel the stretches and have time to concentrate. While she has many good poses, she moves WAY too quickly. I barely get into one pose, look at the TV to check my pose and she already has gone through to another pose. Too much flow and too little yoga. You can perhaps watch it for entertainment value if you enjoy watching flexible women, but it's aboslutely worthless if you're actually trying to do the poses, and I'm no beginner. Perhaps if I played on 16x slow-motion I might derive some value ...』
(Too Slow) 『I have been practicing yoga for about 5 years now and I've always been interested in Shiva Rea but her yoga DVD nearly put me to sleep. For me, there's way too much talking and the flowing sequences are just way too slow for me. I think if you're a beginner, then this would be a good start because you can customize your own yoga series but if you've been practicing for a while, you may want to use something more challenging. I recommend Baron Baptiste - Power Yoga 3. That DVD will make you sweat.』
(Fantastic in its own right...) 『This is a FANTASTIC DVD. Shiva is an amazing teacher who mixes just the right amount of instruction and great music. And while I agree that this material is included in the Yoga Shakti DVD which I also have an use daily; it is a beautiful practice in its own right. It should be noted that not every retailer is a fair with its pricing as Amazon and I have seen Yoga Shakti for $29.99 with this DVD priced at half. For someone just discovering Shiva; someone who does not want or have the time to make a new matrix; or someone on a limited budget this is a great choice.』
(Remix should be sold as such.) 『Solar Flow is a fine dvd, but should not be marketed as something separate from Yoga Shakti. There are no new sequences, just remixes of the Shakti sequences. Since you can rearrange all the Shakti sequences on your own, Solar Flow is superfluous. I don't feel a lot of shanti being swindled into purchasing the same thing twice. A little disclosure please! -Rebecca』
(Try Shiva's other DVD instead, Yoga Shakti) 『i believe this DVD is just a subset of Shiva's Yoga Shakti DVD!You're better of buying the full Yoga Shakti DVD for another 6-bucks which includes this practice and more. I absolutely LOVE the Yoga Shakti DVD and would highly recommend that instead!

IPhone 3G used's review (Nice quick practice for focusing on your midsection) 『This video is part of Baron's Live! series: each video was filmed during a large, live class. Core Power is a shorter, more concentrated version of Baron's more lengthy practices such as Soul of Strength. Given that it is a power yoga workout, the practice moves along at a brisk pace, although Baron also builds in time for restoration throughout.
The practice begins with several sun salutations to warm up; each downward dog is held for several breaths. Following this, Baron skips standing poses and moves directly to the floor to focus on poses which engage the entire core area, particlarly the abdominals. Baron alternates between postures to stretch and lengthen the abs--e.g., bow, camel, bridge--and those that are designed to build strength, including crunches. At times, Baron moves quickly from pose to pose, but he uses postures like boat to provide longer, isometric contractions. The practice ends with a brief svasana, but since the music continues as the credits role, you could easily hold this relaxation pose for a longer period.
I really enjoy Baron's teaching style, which I find to be very accessible for all levels (although absolute beginners to yoga will want to learn the poses elsewhere). At 23 minutes, this is an excellent short practice for days when you have less time and/or when you want to focus specially on core work.』
(ABsolutely ABmazing!) 『Please forgive the "pun" in the Title of this review, but I couldn't resist :).
This "Core Power Live" tape by Baron Baptiste certainly lives up to it's title. It will really challenge your abs in a thorough and balanced way. He also counters the ab work with back bends which stretches out and opens the front part of the body while releasing and strengthing the back body.
While the primary focus of this tape is Abs, Baron starts w/ Sun Salutations so you are fully warmed up throughout your entire body before focusing on the core. He also ends w/ Foward bends, a lying twist and savasana (relaxation pose). The music continues long after the credits which is a nice touch if you decide to spend some extra time in savasana.
I highly recommend this tape for those who want a full body Yoga practice that is short enough to fit into anyones schedule and intense enough to challenge you.
Just one note.... regarding the criticism by another reviewer about the production being a mess..... I don't know what this person was looking for but I think this tapes production is perfect and captures the essence of the practice. It really feels like Baron is in the room with you leading you through the practice.
In fact I really love the live class setting which I find inspiring (and Baron shines more than ever in this setting) and his verbal cues are very easy to follow. I also like that Baron brings attention to different modifications of the various poses, which are demonstrated by various students during the class. An extra added feature is the music of Krishna Das which sets a great atmosphere to practice with.
By the way, check out Baron's other live tapes as well as his book "Journey Into Power". I easily lost about 17 pounds (all I needed to lose) at a safe but steady since using his cleansing diet and have learned a ton from the information in that book.
Also, check out Baron's sister Sherri Baptiste Freeman's Video "Baptiste Power Of Yoga" (see my detailed interview on amazon for more info). It is a wonderful, deep and unique approach on an intermediate level and Sherri's a wonderful teacher.
Namaste』
(Waste of talent.) 『This tape is only 25 minutes long and cost 20 bucks. I think Baron is a talented teacher but should find someone else to direct and produce his videos. I,ve never seen a bigger production mess.』
(Meet your abs!) 『This is a great little intermediate yoga workout. It is 23 minutes long and really focuses on core strength. It contains ab focused power yoga work, some traditional ab work, and some backbends. It will really get your abs in shape like nothing else and has helped my lower back pain as well but I can only speak for myself. Baron is wonderful as usual and there is nothing but good to say.』
(BETTER THAN A HUNDRED SIT-UPS!) 『Between this tape and the"living arts Pilates"tapes my abs are flatter and stronger than ever! This tape clocks in at about 20 minutes and it never lets up! From the first sun salute to the spinal twist your work the abs or"core"an streeeetch out the back. I would say this is best for intermediate yogis. Some poses are tough. Just breathe. And, you will feel it the next day. This is great to supplement a program, say combined with cardio. Also, it's great to give to those people who say you can't get a"workout"through yoga.』 『The Baron Baptiste Live! IPhone 3G used's review (Helped My Spinal Disease and Arthritis 100%!!) 『I got real results from this video and I feel much better! I have been suffering from Spinal Degenerative Disease with severe Arthr. in my neck, shoulders and it started moving down my arms making it hard to even get out of the bed in the mornings from being so stiff. This video helped me the very first time I used it! I have been using it a month now and haven't had ANY pain in my back, neck, or shoulders at all since the very first time using it. The back rolling and heart openings helped me the most. I feel stronger with much less chest pains as well. This is a wonderful video with inspiring music and colorful- easy to follow poses. My family now shares the fun with me using the video. Thank you Garmukh!』
(She is Crazy Flexible) 『This was a challenging workout for me. There are a lot of breathing exercises (which can leave you winded) and a lot of back strengthening. She is very flexible - I wasn't able to do everything that she does. But if you keep at it you notice an improvement. There's also a good bit of cardio&it's very relaxing overall. It is probably OK for beginners in Yoga as long as you are somewhat flexible and in decent shape from other types of workouts.』
(Slow and Steady) 『As an owner of the VHS version 3 years ago, I practiced this video for about 4 months before I made a major move to another country. My practice involved just the awaken section of the workout as I was really out of shape. I then moved to Korea where I no longer had the tape to workout with. That brings us up to date when I recently I found the DVD version was available. In the meantime I had gotten myself in much better condition by a slow and steady yoga practice that has served to build up strength endurance and mental clarity.
I tried Gurmukhs practice again after a three year hiatus, I was exponentially amazed at the feelings and energy that the workout brought out. As I feel there are no real shortcuts in yoga, there are some practices that fit certain developmental levels better than others. This video was a really challenging one for me as a beginner, but had maximum effectiveness. Now that I am still only just beginning to uncover the hidden treasures of yoga, I find this video to be the one that touches my core more than any other.』
(magical) 『The more I do this the more I like it. I've tried hatha, ashtanga and kundalini yoga and I've found kundalini to be the one that resonates with me the best - it's a great work out and way more fun than power yoga. Gurmukh is a weirdo, it's true; the first time she said"imagine you're on a carnival ride, and the best part is: the ride is you"I cringed, but having felt what kundalini does to my body and mind (pure ecstacy)I think she's an angel. I've done some investigating and it's true that she was 58 when she made this video! Crazy. Maybe not for everyone, but I love it!』
(Good workout, a few reservations) 『Let me start by saying I don't know anything about Kundalini yoga other than what's in this video, so I can't speak to whether it's authentic, dumbed down, etc. But I think this tape is a pretty good workout for someone like me, i.e., no back or knee problems, 5 months after having her third kid wants to lose those last 10 lbs. and get back into some semblance of shape, needs a relatively short workout and generally likes the stress-relieving aspects of yoga.
This workout is actually tougher than it looks -- although it can be done by"beginners,"many (including me) will initially find it impossible to get completely through without some rest or modification. Even though I like to think I have pretty strong arms (carrying around a big baby), I was shocked at how tired my arms got from simple activities like raising them and lowering them, making punching motions, shaking them, etc. Most of the movements are simple, but after you do them a few minutes, you realize that isn't so easy.
As far as Gurmukh is concerned, my reservation is that if you are the type of person who is easily distracted by this sort of thing, Gurmukh's manner may be irritating. She reminds me of that one flaky high school teacher we all had who seemed to be in her own weird world -- half the stuff she says sounds like she is making it up on the spot, and it doesn't make a lot of sense (to me, anyhow). Depending on what mood I'm in, stuff like"A flexible spine is a flexible mind . . . and a flexible mind is a flexible life . . ."or"Stretch your arms out like the biggest wings . . . the biggest wings you ever saw . . . or ever felt . . ."can really get on my nerves day after day. On the other hand, when you're going on your second or third solid minute of fluttering your arms up and down and you think you can't hold them up any longer, her exhortions to use the motion to release of all your stress and anger can give you a second wind. Plus, I think she is in her late 50's or early 60's and she looks amazing, and moves with unbelievable grace, strength and flexibility (which is why this video is deceptively tough -- she makes it look easy). If this is how to get that kind of grace, strength and flexibility at any age, sign me up! But I can see why a lot of people are weirded out by Gurmukh and the stuff she says. If you are sensitive to that sort of thing, you may find this tape irritating.
But overall, I think it is a good tape. It's less than an hour, includes warming up and relaxing activities, but the middle portions will really get your heart rate up. I think it is a good choice for people who maybe want something a little more active than"regular"yoga, and like the spiritual aspects of yoga, and don't want to go for a full-on aerobics tape. You will definitely feel it in your arms and legs the day after you do this tape!』
『If you, like most Western practitioners, are familiar primarily with the hatha style of yoga, this tape will be a revelation. Kundalini yoga, as instructed here by the Sikh teacher Gurmukh, isverydifferent from hatha. Where the latter moves slowly and deliberately, holding poses so as to achieve maximum depth, concentration, and release, kundalini is built on series of rapid, repeated movements--leg and arm lifts, lateral, forward, and back bends, back rolls, even kicking and punching actions--and has a much more aerobic feel. Indeed, one sequence of deep-knee bends (in the "Energize" section) resembles calisthenics, while the "Strengthen" section features fast punches and jumps not unlike martial arts training, with Gurmukh, as she does throughout the tape, constantly urging you to go faster. By the time you've completed all four sections of this hour-long tape ("Energize" and "Strengthen" are preceded by "Awaken" and followed by "Relax"), you'll have had a good time and a serious workout. It's good to "sweat and laugh" every day, says Gurmukh, and this tape delivers. One caveat: some of these short, quick moves will tend to tighten your muscles, not stretch them. A few hatha-style stretches may be in order when you're done.--Kelly Welldon』

There are more reviews on her vhs version&this DVD suggest you master her 3 dvd beginner "easy"&3 dvd intermediate "hello fitness" series first. From other reviews on her other DVDs, you know she has a soothing voice with an accent that I didn't have trouble understanding, the views are gorgeous&she always tells you great info about body placement, even chinese medicine/martial arts/qi gong terms. She also tells you what organs or parts or systems of the body each pose works on as you do it to keep you going. Her soft speaking never intrudes your concentration. The music is light new age, mostly dominated by piano or string instruments. The poses done are: wide arrow (balance on butt, legs spread), seated spinal twist (beginner level), supine side leg stretch (beginner), Dynamic Combo Rolls (plow, roll up to boat, then down to seated straight leg fwd bend in one fluid motion *easier then sounds&invigorating*), camel (beginner), child's pose (beginner), toes/palm side stretch (holding weight on 1 hand&1 foot with other arm reaching ceiling *need some arm strength*), patient crow (modified crow *modified handstand*), full split (1 leg fwd, 1 back, not Russian *just do your best, good stretch, use hands to hold weight up*), scorpion (handstand using wall), chin lock plow, shoulderstand (beginner), karnapidasana (shoulderstand w/knees into shoulder (adv.), double angle pose (standing fwd bend with arms held out (beginner), wheel (int.), 1 leg in air wheel (adv.), cross leg relaxation (beginner *resting pose*), bulldog stretch (standing legs wide&arms on ground stretching in front of legs&behind, beginner), half lotus stand (stand w/1 foot on inner groin same hand reaches around to grab toes&other hand reaches into sky *easy, just need balance*)&ends in her usual cute dance chant. (Great video) 『This video was really well rounded. There were a variety of postures and each posture was followed with a counter pose. This is not a flow video so anyone who is looking for a vinyasa based practice this might not be for you. The video ends with chanting and a relaxed dance that is really quite fun.』
(What a great workout!) 『A while ago my sister gave me some of the Wai Lana Yoga tapes from the Easy Series and I fell in love. I've worked my way up to this Burn Off tape which is more advanced, but challenges me in ways that I like. My body is relaxed and and stronger now and my friends tell me that I look good. (Fabulous First Yoga DVD) 『With this DVD, all you need is a mat and a mirror, and you are on your way to a firm foundation in yoga. On the other hand, if you have experience in yoga, this is not the DVD for you.
Walden slowly and systematically gets the student into each of the poses, focusing on correct form. I have since taken several "in person" classes, and can honestly say that I learned more from Walden, who is not afraid to take her time (and comes with a pause button) than from any of the live instructors who are trying to focus on a variety of experience levels.
Once you have mastered the poses in this session, you will be ready to move on to "beginner" programs that move a little faster, OR to put the given poses together into your own flowing combinations.』
(Didn't get through it) 『This is the second yoga DVD I purchased, and I was not impressed at all. Too much talking at the beginning, and like someone else earlier said, the instructor's voice was too fake. Ick. And she was wearing an all-white, tight-fitting spanx bodysuit...right away I was turned off by her.
Also, the menu was difficult to navigate. Seemed like I could only go to basic poses or instruction or something like that.
Anyway, I chucked this DVD fairly early on. I just couldn't get into it.』
(A classic) 『On VHS, this tape was my first introduction to yoga. I thought it might be a nice compliment to my martial arts practice. I don't think I ever actually made it all the way through the tape, since holding poses was always my least favorite part of martial arts and yoga was, functionally, a never ending sequence of holding poses. I picked it up on DVD on a whim on sale, and more recently, now that I am older and more interested in calming myself and introspection than in seeing if I can kick my much taller brothers in the head (theoretically, of course), popping this DVD in was what led me to discover how deeply satisfying yoga can be. Hence I am very fond of it.
Although I would still consider myself a fairly raw beginner, I have found that I don't do this practice as much as I used to. I do it when I need something very calming--you hold each pose rather than shifting between them dynamically, which I find calming--or when I want to run through her excellent pointers on proper pose positioning. It's a very slow paced practice and there's a lot of dead time that is filled with instruction. It is very valuable instruction, but after you've heard it for the tenth (or twentith. Or more.) time you don't really need for her to tell you how to fold a blanket again. I often prefer something faster paced for my regular work out, but this DVD has a very special place in my heart.
I wish there was a way to skip her "stop and lecture the class" and just do the asanas with instruction, but I don't find this as annoying as I would on a current DVD release I think, because this is a classic.』

The music, the exercises, the mood, and the instructor all make this yoga experience truly amazing! It doesn't "feel" like a workout for most of the video, but by the end you will feel rejuvenated and your body will let you know that it definitely got a workout! If you can't get to a spa and get a body wrap cleanse - this is definitely a great substitute! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.』
(A beginner) 『I'm a beginner and I really enjoyed this dvd. I tried it for the first time after a tough leg workout and some time on the stairmaster. I needed something to help me recharge. I'm so glad I picked this because it left me feeling rested and rejuvenated.
It's actually fun! Your mostly on the floor twisting and stretching (with some intense breathing at some points of course). She has a great voice and explains the hows and whys of the movements. The music helps to keep in time with her and keep going when your pooped. Normally, I want to turn off the music in my videos, but this was just perfect for the exercises.
I would definitely purchase another dvd from her.』
(Very healing and motivating.) 『Kindalini Yoog to detox an destress is wonderful. The work out is not so vigorous that I want to avoid the work out. Instead Maya has a way of making me feel like I have accomplished something. Love, this DVD!』
(Great Practice, New Agey Though) 『Initial Warning: New Age Cheese Factor is present in this DVD. My boyfriend walked in on me right as Maya was encouraging me to "become the New Aquarian Person!" and he burst out laughing. I don't mind it, being something of a low-key hippy person who talks to her plants and worries about her chakras, but although Boyfriend was interested in joining me for this work out (it does a lot of back stretching and flexing, which since he has a very tense, stiff back, looked appealing to him) he didn't think he could make it through and keep a straight face.
His loss. Still, if being told to become "the new Aquarian Person!" or "We will now chant to strengthen the kidneys" will utterly ruin your enjoyment of a practice, you might, ah, wanna rent this one first. Just in case.
Now, on to the review proper:
This routine can be fairly intense if you're not in shape. It's fun, I like it very much, but it can be quite the work out considering you don't actually *stand up* at any time. That being said, I'm not in the most phenomenal shape of my life at the moment and I can finish this practice. And I enjoy it very much indeed! It is currently part of my regular yoga rotation and I often do the warm up portion of the DVD even on days when I am not doing the full practice. It's very dynamic: you will not hold anything but corpse pose and easy pose. And it's all done sitting or kneeling. Props are not necessary even for We the Inflexible Yogis and Yoginis of the World, which I think would make it great for travel, although I do tend to sit on my yoga mat when I do this practice.
Kundalini yoga is very different from the other hatha yoga styles I've been exposed to. But it's fun, it made my back feel FANTASTIC, the music is great, and I felt reinvigorated and centered after it was done.』
(Beautiful) 『I really enjoy this dvd. Maya gives a sense of peace and I love the music. In other reviews, people commented about the plainness of the video. The reality is, you're supposed to do the exercises with your eyes closed, so you don't actually watch the dvd. You'll watch it the first few times to understand the poses, but after that you'll be LISTENING to it more than watching it. Knowing this, Maya concentrates on giving us good music and encouraging words instead of a visual show.』 『No Description Available. Genre:How To - Yoga Rating:NR Release Date:26-JUN-2007 Media Type:DVD』 『You may have years of yoga experience, but if it's limited primarily to the hatha style that's practiced most commonly in the West, musician-instructor Maya Fiennes'Kundalini Yoga to Detox and Destressmay prove very surprising--and in very a good way. The London-based Fiennes describes kundalini as both "the mother of all yoga" and "among the easiest styles of yoga to learn" (not to mention a good way to "prepare for the Aquarian Age" that's coming in 2012, for those watching their calendars), a combination of movement, breath, and chanting designed to awaken, energize, and relax. That may all be true, but the contrast to the more familiar hatha style is striking. Where the latter usually concentrates on holding poses, gradually but subtly deepening them over the course of several long breaths, kundalini features almost constant movement; rapid side arm extensions and seated lifts and drops (a bit like jumping up and down on a trampoline from a seated position) are but two examples of the intense but highly enjoyable routines demonstrated here, and although the entire 60-minute program is done seated, on the back, or an all fours--there are no standing poses whatsoever--it's plenty strenuous enough to provide a good workout. Indeed, evenpranayamawork like the "breath of fire," featuring short, sharp, powerful inhalations and exhalations, is brisk and intense. Fiennes, who also supplied the rhythmic, pulsing music, offers explicit instructions and encouragement without being either frivolous or overly serious--a good balance, just like the practice itself.--Sam Graham』
