(not om yoga FAST YOGA !!!)
『i love yoga and am welling to try new styles of yoga I had borrow this DVD from a studio I was not happy - i guess I like to take my time with yoga and really feel everything ! I have done yoga only at the studio with a group and i wanted to take my practice home So I thought this DVD would help well it wasn't helpful they rushed everything it wasn't even POWER YOGA! They didn't let you enjoy the breathing or letting you stay in poses they had a like 3 ppl and the teacher and they went so fast! Also the meditation was NOT meditation it was this FAST 2min breathing and then they moved on!!! I wouldn't pay for this DVD』

(Horrible)
『Just horrible, you don't get a good yoga practise every segment is so short that just when you start to warm up it is over.』

(FAB!!!)
『This DVD rocks. Cyndi and David are generous, knowledgeable, deeply compassionate teachers. They are humourous and light-hearted, as well as incredibly precise and gentle in their teaching. The style is accessible and inspiring. What a joy to practice!

Yoga and meditation made FUN.』

(Great Combination)
『I am a long time yoga practioner and most recently I've tried to integrate meditation into my practice. Not only has this DVD been so helpful with this process but It's made my connection to my yoga practice so much more deeper and meaningful. Cyndi and David thank you for not only opening my body and mind but for sharing your inspiring hearts.

I've also found this DVD to be extremely helpful when traveling.
Especially anyone who's affraid of flying!!!

The bonus music CD is magical.』

(engaging and effective)
『I have purchased several yoga DVDs in the past, but always found myself bored after only a few viewings. This yoga routine is much different than the others in that it consistently engages you in your movement and thoughts at an effective pace. The meditation segments are great on those days that I need to relax but am feeling a little too lazy to go through the whole yoga routine. David Nichtern is great at explaining the history of each exercise and puts in simple words the difficult concepts that are usually associated with deep meditation. Aside from these positives, the music CD that comes inside the DVD is nice to have around, even in the car, to take a mental break whenever it's convenient. It helps me to remember the methods David teaches in his segment and get right back into the swing of things. I'm very pleased with my purchase and feel this is one of the best meditation/yoga combination DVDs ive seen.』
『The practice of yoga is sometimes referred to as a "moving meditation," a physical but still inwardly-directed undertaking in which the breath takes the place of a spoken or chanted mantra. By offering separate instruction in those two disciplines, Cyndi Lee and David Nichtern'sOm Yoga and Meditationobviously eliminates the need for any such distinction. The program is divided into for parts (with titles like "Making Friends with Yourself" and "Obstacles as Path"), each with a meditation and yoga section presented side by side. Nichtern, whom some will recognize as the songwriter responsible for Maria Muldaur's '70s hit "Midnight at the Oasis" (this package also contains a music CD featuring his and other musicians' work), handles the former; he's clearly very experienced, but while his talks offer a plenty of valuable guidelines into theshamatha(mindfulness) practice, it isn't until the simple but very effective "guided meditation" segment in Part Four that students actually get to try the practice themselves. Lee, meanwhile, leads users through the four yoga segments, each about fifteen minutes long. The drawback here is the same one found on many, many yoga videos: too much action and not nearly enough teaching. The DVD booklet's claim that these sequences are designed for both beginning and intermediate students is misleading at best. While Lee's attention to the breath (also a central component of meditation) is commendable, the pace is way too quick for inexperienced users; what's more, difficultasanaslikechaturanga(the lowered push-up position),ardha chandrasana(balancing half-moon pose),vasisthasana(side-slant pose), and a variety of others that are challenging even for veteran yogis are presented with precious little instruction at all. To her credit, Lee advises newcomers to watch these segments before attempting them, but even that won't do much good in the absence of thorough, detailed coaching. All in all,Om Yoga and Meditationis a good idea that's hampered by less than scintillating execution--Sam Graham
『This package offers everything you need to practice yoga and meditation at home. The DVD includes four yoga and five meditation sessions, each about fifteen minutes long. The music CD features Krishna Das, Christopher Guest, Sultan Khan, David Nichtern, tj Rehmi, Emilia, and Steve Gorn&Jamie Lawrence. The booklet, written by David and Cyndi, contains info on yoga, meditation practice, how to get started, how to keep going, and more. Cyndi is an internationally acclaimed yoga teacher and David Nichtern, a highly regarded teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition, has taught thousands of students worldwide.』

(Just as advertised...)
『Just as the title promises, this DVD is great for flexibility and stress release. After doing it, I feel calm, de-stressed and as though I have just had a great massage. The music and lovely tropical setting, with ducks and giant butterflies, adds to the soothing atmosphere.』

(Disappointing)
『This isn't very good. Buy a different one. I didn't think it went smoothly. I think it was too long, and too segmented.』

(Excellent yoga dvd)
『This is one of the best yoga dvd's I own. Alan Finger has been practicing yoga since he was 13 and is a very good teacher. He focuses on breathing and form, and his prompts come at the appropriate time so you can follow the moves easily. I own several yoga zone dvd's and think they are among the best for real yoga. I'm a beginner at yoga, and I think the beginning and intermediate levels are appropriately named. The poses are moved through slowly and thoroughly, and he encourages you to push but not strain yourself, to work at your level. One assistant performs the poses fully, while another performs them at a limited level for those who are less flexible or have physical problems.』

(a really good intermediate yoga workout)
『I enjoy doing this yoga tremendously. It's perfect for days when I want a real workout but one that's gentle at the same time. Alan Finger does a wonderful job of integrating the spiritual side of yoga, which often gets left behind in many teachers presentations. His corpse pose is one of the best I've ever done.』

(Impressed Again by Yoga Zone)
『I purchased several other Yoga Zone DVDs before disccovering those with Alan Finger conducting the practice, and found them excellent. Alan Finger's sessions, which include meditation, did not disappoint. Beginners and experienced practitioners alike will find Alan's instruction easy to follow and extremely informative. One of the "hazards" of gaining experience is the tendency to get sloppy in poses. It never hurts to be reminded -- esp of alignment or proper breathing technique. At 60 minutes, this practice is just the right length, and again (as in my Power Yoga review) reflects what you would experience in a yoga studio class. I loved the Chakra meditation -- found it very soothing and inspiring to imagine the different energy centers of the body being energized while I "let go" in Corpse Pose. Alan also includes a bit of OM chanting at the end, something not inlcuded on the other Yoga Zone DVDs I've tried. Admittedly, this type of meditation may not be for everyone. But after practicing for about a year, I've noticed that I'm the most "in the zone" after a practice that incorporates all of these elements. Try it yourself and see what you think!』

(Not what it seems by the cover..and thats good!)
『The cover of this yoga workout is very deceiving to the more detailed eye...in that the posture of the woman on the cover is terrible in so many ways...the pose is way out of alignment for the knees and back and feet are not even on sure grounding. Why that pose in such a way I don't know because the workout is actually just the opposite. There are three people..showing modifcations..the woman on the cover leads it. Overall it works slower than I imagined and its not bad at all. While the workout is not for me and my own pace...its good for others. Its a little too talky for me...its difficult to be looking at the camera...do the excercises and que everyone including yourself...this can get the instructor and the viewer a bit stuck. its beyond me why and how they did not see how not yoga aware that picture is. But if you want to check it out do so...its cheap on ebay...about a $1.00 I've seen it for... don't be deterred right away by the cover.』

(Good Power Yoga Introduction)
『I have many many yoga tapes by many instructors and in different styles. Overall this tape is pretty good and I do like Ms. Broman. The setting is real nice and I do like the music as well.

My only complaint is that I feel she goes into the balancing poses too early in the practice. While certainly everyone is different, I prefer routines that do more warm ups before doing balancing type poses as they require a lot of subtle strength and flexibility beside the fact that you're putting all the weight on one side of your body. I would've preferred it if they were preceded by some Triangle and side stretch poses and a bit more time to get more heat into the body.

I definitely prefer Bryan Kest's, Baron Baptiste's and Rodney Yee's Power Yoga videos over this in that they are much more thorough and you get much more heat generated in the body.

Also, of course David Swenson's short forms is an incredible tape if you want a more Traditional Ashtanga type practice. His tapes also are very balanced and the sequencing seems more friendly to one's body (at least to mine). .

Still, the Buns of Steel tape is certainly challenging, and perhaps for those who are"looser"(to use Bryan Kest's term) you might find you don't need quite as much warm up as someone like myself.

It's worth checking out if you want to add variety into your yoga practice.

Namaste'

(Been Using for 4 Years)
『I've been using this video for four years and I still do it every other morning. It's still challenging and relaxing. It's not typical yoga in that it's main focus is fitness, then mind, then spirit. So if you want to get into shape and give Yoga a try, this tape is perfect for you. The more you do the workout, the better you'll be able to hold the pose and the more fit you'll become. Hope you enjoy it!』

(questionable cover asana!)
『I haven't viewed this video so please ignore my rating (the site won't let me not rate it), but I feel compelled to point out that the instructor on the cover is doing a sloppy and potentially knee-damaging version of warrior 1 position. Her right knee should not extend forward beyond her toes; her left foot should be completely connected to the ground! (Or if she lacks the flexibility, she should be doing a *safe* adaptation of the posture.) For me, this speaks to the quality of the yoga on the video.』

(Buns of Steel: Mind/Body - Power Yoga)
『I've been using Yoga videos for over a year and wanted something to vary my routine. This tape was very disappointing to me. The instructor is highly annoying and doesn't seem to be enjoying herself at all. The whole point of Yoga is lost while she rushes through the positions and mispronouces every word related to yoga.
If you enjoy the"Buns of Steel"workouts you might like this as a variation, but if it's real Yoga you are looking for this is not the tape for you.』

『It might not have the gloss of other yoga productions, but Buns of Steel'sPower Yogalacks nothing in the realm of technique. Designed for beginning to intermediate practitioners, this 40-minute workout moves through vigorous stretching, strengthening, and balancing postures, culminating in a short relaxation session. Yoga teacher Michi Broman and two assistants demonstrate beginning and advanced variations for each pose during the practice, making this tape appropriate for a wide audience. One quibble: Broman's lengthy discussion of yoga principles in the beginning of the tape, while certainly necessary upon the first viewing, would serve viewers better if it were included separately, preceding the workout.--Jhana Bach

(Yoga with a hint of pilates for beginners&intermediate)
『Dr. Beth Cholette wrote a great review&I can only add that this is set at a 1990s geographical shape professional studio with soft Enigma new age style music that keeps you going.
The two teachers take turns speaking while they workout, giving you both the English&original name for the yoga poses, one or both showing the several different levels of modifications for each exercise. I found their voices soothing, but still strong to keep you awake with good instruction, to the point, but not stiff.
I love the harder moves such as a handstand like crow being shown, but they show more emphasis on mid-level physical ability. More demanding poses such as dolphin, boat or crow/handstand are allowed stretching breaks before doing them again, but if you're more physical fit, you can hold it the entire time.
Other exercises are bicycle, cat/cow, supine knee to chest spinal twists (keeping knees up - good ab work), rolling like a ball, pilates roll-ups, 3 legged downward dog&also putting knee to chest, leg raises, etc.
I rented this at my library&so glad I took a chance.』

(Yoga and Pilates mix to challenge the upper body)
『This is an enjoyable video which targets not just the abs but the entire upper body. Two instructors, Ross Rayburn and Teigh McDonough, lead you through simple but challenging movements. Ross begins the workout with yoga sun salutations, first just focusing on breathing and forward bends, then adding in a lunge sequence.

Once you are warmed up, Ross leads you through a tougher yoga segment which is focused on the abs but which really works the arms as well. You will start in downward dog and bring your knee to your forehead, then move back to downward dog and through to plank (Teigh shows a less challenging version on hands and knees). An arm balance prep series comes next, with Ross doing the full pose and Teigh keeping her feet on the floor. This section ends with holding dolphin pose while concentrating on the abs.

Teigh leads some simple stretches and then moves on to Pilates-like floorwork. The exercises are not classic Pilates; rather, they are more like Pilates-inspired crunches. Ross also jumps in with some additional yoga poses, including boat. Finally, Teigh concludes the workout with restorative poses (reclined cobbler's and relaxation) and a brief guided meditation.

Although the workout is lead mostly by Ross, he and Teigh work well together, and Teigh frequently performs modifications. I would have preferred a bit more Pilates or other"fusion"work, but overall, I enjoyed this practice, which felt like a nice yoga routine that specifically worked my abs and arms.』

(Good Workout)
『This is a great workout for your abs. It is a little fast, but once you get the hang of it, is not bad. There are two instructors so you can follow the slower/easier instructor, or the faster/harder instructor. I think it's great!』

(Better Than Expected)
『Yes, I got sucked in by a late night infomercial... and this program is better then I expected. The pace and level of difficulty are good for beginners. Mari explains things pretty well and her "students" do a good job of demonstrating. I used them for many months before I started looking for more Pilates DVDs. A good purchase.』

(Pilates DVDs)
『I bought both a new and a used set of the Winsor Pilates DVD's. Both arrived quickly and in good condition. Although I have not yet used them as I still have my original tapes, all appears to be in order.』

(Love This Set - way too overpriced)
『I have this set on VHS and love it - she gives simple to follow instructions and unlike many other people I like the slower pace and for the first time in my life have muscles I never had before. However I feel the sellers on Amazon are charging way too much for this set - I paid less for it 5 yrs ago from the official site and unlike the other sets available it only has 2 actual workouts - the 20 minute basic and the accelerated workout. I still want to replace my VHS copies tho.』

(Waste of time and money!)
『Before you get fooled by the infomercial, do yourself a favor and do some research. Read reviews everywhere or borrow it from the library first. She won people's attention by a great marketing strategy. Yes, the celebrities and skinny models endorsing them.....those people have good genes and private chef to cook for them. But let me be fair, her moves would help show more toned muscles on people who are already slim. However, to claim that you'd lose the weight doing her program...I don't think so. Although it's written in fine print (in the pamphlet that came with the DVDs) that you'd change how your body looks when you combine it with sensible eating and cardio.....Bottomline, there are other much better Pilates programs like Ellen Barrett's or even Denise Austin's. I'm not a big fan of Denise Austin but I'd do her Pilates over Mari's....Her video has a lot of talking and very few reps. NOT recommended!』

(Great for beginners)
『These are fantastic for beginners. As other reviewers stated, Mari explains very clearly how to do these exercises properly. I found that after I learned how to do them I tired of listening to the explanations and it took too much time. So, I spent an hour writing down the exercises in the order they occur on both workouts. I keep that paper in my workout log (along with my papers from her other dvd's, I have and would recommend almost all of them) and just do the pilates without the dvd most of the time. Every couple of weeks I pull out the dvd and do the workout with Mari to remind myself of proper form, etc. But, for the most part, I work off my written copy. It works well and saves me time! It also allows me to listen to a book on cd, music, the news, whatever else I want to listen to and still get a good workout in.』

(Very Good Stamina Builder)
『This DVD does exactly what it says - helps build stamina in a short routine that really gets you moving. Very nice Sun Salutations which work well in leading into the other parts of the workout. I like doing various types and variety of yoga and this is a good up tempo practice.

Rodney provides very good instruction and if you are interested in some up tempo Power Yoga, this is a good one to try.』

(I enjoy this practice)
『I have had this practice in my collection for a few years. I enjoy it. It is very fast paced, and I do break a sweat with it even though it is only 20 minutes. I would say it is a little too hard for beginners, so some yoga experience would be ideal. But a good, quick workout and I always feel great afterwards.

You probably will not like this if you like to hold the poses for a very long period of time. On the other hand, if you like a flowing, fast-paced practice that is more challenging than meditative...this is for you.』

(good work out. but little too fast.)
『I always thought that Yoga suppose to be more relaxe.. but his up and down and up and down with the same routine, I felt a bit dizzy after a while.
some of many moves really help to stretched my body after all.』

(Quick workout, but not very rigorous)
『I've been practicing yoga for about 5 years now. Rodney quickly moves through his most common poses. The workout is short so don't expect to break a sweat. I enjoy this DVD workout when I just want a quick stretch.』

(wow!)
『Athletic Power is challenging and really opens up your hips. He is easy to listen to. I feel like I've done a workout when I am finished. I have core yoga too and that's fantastic as well.』

(Great beginner Yoga DVD)
『This is a fantastic form of yoga, which focuses on traditional postures. This DVD is a fantastic way to become introduced to the practice. I also purchased Core Power and Unlocking Athletic Power, both of which are great. Within 3 weeks I felt stronger, thinner, and with less joint and muscle pain. I've always been a big fan of yoga, but had not considered a practice with DVDs until the Baron Baptiste videos were suggested to me. I'm glad I gave it a chance, and expect that I will be using these DVDs for years to come.』

(Very good short routine)
『About myself:
I'm into Yoga since about six years.
I practice dayly.
I also teach Power Vinyasa Yoga at a local Hotal Spa Fitness Studio.
I personally like fluid and complete physically challanging Power Yoga Routines.
Since I'm german my english spelling is pretty bad, sorry for that!

About the DVD: You can't do a 60 to 80 Minutes Training every day, and this is for the days in between.
It's a great short Workout that leaves you warm and energized. Even though it is short it is still physically demanding.
Baron is a great teacher! He honors every aspect of Yoga and encourages his students in a professionel an gentil way. (Although he seems to overdue it just a little from time to time with sayings like: "Angels fly because they take themselves lightly". Come on Baron! But to me that makes him even more sympathic. Obviously he is so much into Yoga that he looses it just a little from time to time ;-))
The routine is fluid and round.
It is suited for all Practicioners from Beginner (meaning you already took some Yoga lessons and know the main poses) to advanced.
I highly recommend it!
I hope this was helpfull for you!
Namasté!』

(Wonderful Short Yoga Routine)
『It is similar to Baron's "Journey Into Power Level 1", with the exception of not as much core/ab focus towards the end. This is fine with me because this is not what I am needing in a 30 minute yoga routine. The sequence and pace of the postures is just my type of thing.

I love doing this particular DVD before I have to get ready for work, especially when I'm tired and not feeling up to par this gets me feeling better on so many levels.

I enjoy Baron's style of instruction better than anyone else I've experienced on DVD or real life.』

(A nice intermediate yoga practice with a strong stretching focus)
『Unlocking Athletic Power is one of the three videos from Baron's Live! series. Like in the other two practices in this series, Baron leads a large class through the postures, moving thruogh the participants to make adjustments and offer encouragements. The video is described as being for all levels, and some of the class members do perform modified versions of the postures, but there are also some more advanced postures included as described below.

As with all of his videos, Baron begins with sun salutations, moving from the A to the B series. He ends the latter with crow pose, an arm balance--a surprisingly challenging posture for this early in the practice. Next comes a warrior series with plenty of form pointers for where you should be feeling the work. Baron then moves into a series of hip openers, beginning with crescent pose and proceeding to lunge with forearms on floor, pigeon, and double pigeon; a variation on boat pose follows before moving on to the other side. Then it's down to the floor for bridge and wheel (a full backbend which is optional). Baron then throws in a few moves for the abdominals before moving into the final stretches, including dead bug, cobbler's pose, table, lying twist, and savasana. The actual practice is about 26 minutes long, but the music continues for another 2 minutes, allowing you to easily remain in relaxation pose for a longer period.

Overall, I thought this was a nice intermediate practice. It is longer and more challenging than Baron's Core Power (although obviously not as core-focused) but also shorter and not as advanced as his longer Live practice, Soul of Strength. I would recommend UAP for experienced yogis looking for a strong, powerful vinyasa yoga practice.』

『I have been using this mat for about a month and although it's the best mat for stability I can hardly stand the smell. I'm thinking the smell of rubber may not be eco friendly and I wouldn't recommend it.』

(Not worth the price)
『I purchased black Manduka ecoMat this spring, and truly wanted to love it - many other reviews were great. Unfortunately, my own experience has been anything but. First, there is a problem of smell that would not go away. I live in a city apartment, and kept the mat unrolled for already over four months. Despite that, the smell still remains. It makes it difficult to concentrate during my yoga practice, and relaxation becomes as exercise in pondering why am I subjecting myself and my fellow students to breathing rubber fumes. Second, there is an issue of cleaning the mat - even mild soap or diluted shampoo leave streaks on it, and drying the mat by hanging it over my bathtub railing leaves more lines on mat's surface. Finally, it is the surface of the mat itself, which is relatively harsh (not as bad as sandpaper, but getting dangerously close to that zone). Perhaps, because I have relatively dry skin to begin with, the mat scrapes the palms of my hands and my feet. I have read about the smell in the reviwes, but did not expected it to be so long-lasting and toxic, and have not seen the problem of harshness of the mat's surface addressed by anyone else. In fairness, it appears to be well constructed and the cushion is great. And yes, it is also *very* heavy』

(Finally! I have found a true non-slip yoga mat!)
『I love my manduka 5mm mat. I am a yoga teacher who teaches roughly 7 hours a day. I teach Vinyasa Flow which tends to make you sweat. After trying roughly 20+ mats and yoga towels, I have finally found the perfect non-slip mat. Absolutely no slipping and sliding on this one. I will admit that it is heavy, but it is worth lugging around. It also has a very interesting bad smell to it when it first arrives, but that tends to wear off within the first couple of weeks. I also own the thinner, lighter version eKO, which is also a great non slip mat, however, I like my mats a little on the thicker side which is why I purchased this one as well. Worth every penny!』

(Doesn't slip unless very wet...)
『This mat is great in many ways... it's the stickiest mat I've ever had (and I've had them all, just about). It's the only mat I've ever used other than the jute mats that retains some traction when wet. Only when it is really wet do I have to throw a yogitoes or other towel down. I love the extra couple of inches in width. The mat is slightly thinner than I'd like, but very dense so it gives more padding that you would think. Excellent for balance poses (which are my nemesis).』

(Best mat ever!)
『This is a great mat and it's ecologically friendly also. Can you beat that combination?! Yes, it took several days to air the mat out before I took it to class, but after that initial period, it's been all good. The bottom of the mat is very tacky and will pick up anything that's on your carpet. The longer length is appreciated, especially when we have to stagger ourselves on mats in a packed class. It is heavier than other mats, but I have no troubled rolling it up and transporting it. No more Gaiam mats for me!』
『We can confidently report that the new Manduka eKO mat is the best eco-friendly yoga mat on the market, period. Manduka is already well known for their

『Drawing from the Upanishads and other classical yoga texts, Yoga Chants, helps listeners to invoke the sacred, find deeper meaning and empowerment in their yoga practice, and reach the ultimate goal of yoga– liberation. Through commentary on the literal translation and modern understanding of the chants, and featuring the opportunity to participate in call-and-response chants of several Sanskrit mantras, Yoga Chants presents: · Why chant completes yoga practice in a way no pose alone can · The science of sacred sound: proven physiological effects of chant · Ancient chants from India for overcoming delusion, cultivating peace and prosperity, awakening insight into the happiness of pure Being, and much more.』
