(Great stress reliever) 『I have a 9 yr old boy who is decidedly UNflexible, and a 6 yr old daughter who is a natural-born dancer. They both enjoy this video, and certain parts of it are challenging to either one, but not so hard that they feel defeated. I find it relieves stress, but I must add a large part of this comes from their mockery of the teacher and her pronunciation of the position names! I don't find the video particularly girly; there is an older boy on the video, and it does emphasize strength, not just flexibility. It's been a good introduction to yoga, and gets us moving. (An awesome intro to yoga - if only there was a DVD!) 『"Jane Fonda's Yoga Exercise Workout" is one of the first exercise videos I bought, and it's still one of my favorites!
Jane starts out with a 20-minute stretching/toning routine that consists of a number of different poses. Next, she focuses on the Sun Salutation and leads you through a 15-minute segment based on the one sequence. She starts with the easiest variation of the routine, and gradually increases the intensity. Experienced yoga practitioners can repeat Level 3 (the most difficult level) three times, while beginners can stick to Level 1 (the easiest level). Throughout the segment, she repeats her demonstration of the lower levels for newbies. Jane finishes with a 15-minute relaxation routine. While some people might enjoy this section the most, I generally skip it.
Since beginning yoga, I've bought a number of other yoga instructionals, all on DVD; "Jane Fonda's Yoga Exercise Workout" is the only VHS tape I own. As much as I like the workout, as well as Jane's easygoing teaching style, I don't use the tape as much as I should. I just don't find the VHS tape as convenient as the DVDs, which usually have short segments that you can easily navigate through (many even let you customize your own workout). It would be great if they released "Jane Fonda's Yoga Exercise Workout" on a DVD format (hint, hint, guys!). Other than this minor complaint, though, I'd definitely recommend "Jane Fonda's Yoga Exercise Workout" to beginners and intermediates alike (advanced users might want to stick to some of Rodney Yee's more difficult workouts).

The tape offers three levels, thus bringing this particular series of poses into the range of even the beginning student. It is one of the best tutorials I have come across for this demanding but rewarding exercise.』
(A Wonderful Introduction to Yoga) 『"Jane Fonda's Yoga Exercise Workout"is not only the most wonderful introduction to Yoga, but it makes you want to come back for more. Although I work out several times a week, I am new to Yoga, and was absolutly amazed at how I felt after just the first class. It gave me energy, improved my balance(when you get to be a"certain age", these things start to dwindle), and left me feeling like I'd done a real workout.Even my abs felt it!
Jane encouragingly guides you through the three segments of this tape. In the first segment she takes you through the most gentle yet invigorating 20 minutes of stretching and toning in which you will also be introduced to the movements and the terminology. There are times when the level of movement is increased, but Jane reminds us to just do the level we feel most comfortable with and there are insets showing the different levels we can follow.
In the next segment you'll be learning the Yoga Sun Salutation. It is a progressive routine that picks up the pace as it goes along, but again Jane let's you know it's okay to go at your own pace. This segment lasts about 15 minutes, but it's a truly effective program.
The last 15 minutes may be the most wonderful 15 minutes you can spend in a day. The time is spent strictly on relaxation techniques, that will make you feel wonderful as well as relieve stress. This is a section that you can do anytime you feel the need, as no warm up is required.
I have had this tape some time now, and although it took me a few times before I completed the whole tape, each time I used it I felt a renewed energy and good about myself. Five stars to Jane and this class for turining me from a skeptic to a believer. I started out adding this just once a week to my work out program, I now incorporate it twice weekly and I really look foward to those days. It's truly a great workout for any age.
I also think you can't go wrong for the price. If it's something you've been wanting to try, you can do it without investing too much, and after a while if you decide you want to move on to a more powerful workout, this tape has given you a great start!

(Gentle, Yet Effective) 『This was the first yoga workout tape I ever bought. At first when I started doing it, I had to keep looking at the tv to make sure I was doing the moves right. But I after did it several times, I got to where I could do it without having to look at the tv. In fact, she says you will get to where you can do it just by following her voice. She gives excellent cues for each move and breathing. I do this workout at least once a week and have really increased my felxiblity. I really love stretching exercises, and this is an excellent whole body stretch. I love the way she has you flow from one position to another. It's almost as if it is all one move. (nice gentle prenatal yoga exercises) 『I was looking for a prenatal yoga routine that would not be too exhausting, yet give my body the stretch and tone it needs. This DVD is just that. It is nice to have the three ladies on the DVD displaying modifications for each trimester. You need a blanket, chair, block, and strap for different exercises and modifications. There is no need to buy special items, you can just use things from around the house to make it work! I like how Shiva stresses to not overdo any poses, only what is comfortable for you. The first few times I watched/did the tape, I payed quite a bit of attention to the poses. I would suggest after that to try not to watch the tape so closely and focus on your breathing, which has seemed to help me transition from pose to pose more smoothly. I have minimal experience with yoga, am 28, first time mom,and an average weight/muscle tone...if that helps get a better idea of where I am coming from. Also, I can't forget to mention the guided relaxation at the end...is AMAZING! I wish it was a little bit longer, but it is a nice treat. I highly recommend this DVD!』
(Prenatal Yoga with love) 『I think this is an excellent Prenatal yoga dvd. I love how there are 3 women in the dvd that portray all the different trimesters. This is very beneficial for the pregnant woman that is home doing yoga alone. Plus, the dvd is also broken down in segments so that the student can do the practice for only 15 minutes if she chooses to do so. I also highly recommed Wai Lana yoga for prenatal yoga. Either way, Shiva Rea give her heart to this practice and I'm sure that is comforting to anyone who's pregant and practicing yoga.
