(Wonderful DVD...but...BUT) 『I bought this DVD to replace my video. I first saw this on Oprah when it was released. I love the way it is shot, easy to follow and the music (Dead Can Dance) fits right in. The only problem with this DVD is that it lists on the back cover that there is a BONUS feature. An updated interview with Ali Macgraw but there isn't one. This has the same content as the original video from 1994.』
(Inspiring Video for Yoga enthusiasts) 『I first bought Erich's book, and have found that the best all round book on Yoga. What I wanted was to see the pace they go in a standard workout. The video offers that and more. Routines at the back of the book differ slightly to the one presented in the video. However, one gets the exact feel that Erich is trying to achieve. I agree that he has a great voice which fits perfectly over the lovely music. The sand dune backdrop is magnificient. The elegance of the Yoga performers is inspiring. It's almost like Tai Chi. Learning from a video requires patience. It's best to master 10 minutes of the video and build from there if you are a true beginner. There is no quick fix in Yoga. A video is a useful tool, along with daily practice and plenty of reading. Once you learn the routine you can lengthen the workout to suit your own needs. I recommend you buy the book as well. The book is super. Self-learning requires patience with oneself. These videos and books show people that have been doing Yoga for years. The flexiblility is a tribute to their patience and perseverence. Vanda Scarvelli is a prime example of it's never to late to get really flexible.

(Erich Schiffmann's Yoga Mind&Body (Yes Ali MacGraw is there too.)) 『I've had this video since it came out over 10 years ago. It remains a classic. Way back then I was a semi-experienced beginner and it was challenging but very accessible. I still enjoy it today, now that I've had yoga teacher training and all those years of class and practice under my belt.
This is a shortish routine (40+ min. I think) and begins with some back limbering and then precisely executed sun salutations and a lovely vinyasa sequence of standing poses. Then you work into backbends and leg stretches savasana. I know: same ole stuff -- but Schiffmann still makes it look mint fresh.
Some of the camera work is a little dated-arty but I love it. The music is partly by Dead Can Dance -- really wonderful. The setting (White Sands) is exquisite. When we made a trip to White Sands a few years ago I had to do a tree and swaaaay just like Erich said I would.

IPhone 3G used's review (Delivers what it promises!) 『Although there are many yoga videos that claim to be "relaxing," most move too quickly to allow you to truly relax into the poses. I'm happy to say that Kripalu Yoga: Gentle is different, as it delivers exactly the gentle, relaxing yoga practice that it promises. The video consists of two half hour practices (the first is slightly longer) designed to be done either together or separately. The main instructor, Carolyn Lundeen (Sudha), provides a soothing, instructive voice-over to the slow yet steadily flowing practice. Although many familiar poses are included, they are frequently motified to be more gentle--eg, Eagle pose done with the arms only.
Unlike many other yoga videos, this practice begins in a seated position. After a focus on breathing, you do simple seated stretches to begin warming the body. Next you move to your knees for a lunge series and additional twists. Following this, you do a series of three very gentle sun salutations: this is a very relaxed, slow-moving but flowing version of the sun salutation postures. Finally, you will do some standing poses (Warrior I, II, and Triangle) before moving back to the floor for reclined postures.
The first program ends in relaxation pose, and the second practice picks up from this point. Towards the end of the second practice, there is a several minute long "free" period during which Carolyn and her two assistants perform whichever poses they want; they instruct the viewer to do the same. I actually found this to be somewhat distruptive to the flow of the workout, as I would have preferred Carolyn's guidance to being left to my own devices. Overall, however, I found this to be a unique, soothing, and relaxing yoga practice which I thoroughly enjoyed.』

Calm, soothing, clear and understandable, her voice is like soft rain water and you are the summer day. The postures are easy, yet still challenging. She shares the stage with two, I assume students, who show various ways the postures can be attained. The background music is unobtrusive, but hypnotic. I am giving this tape to my friends for gifts and for introduction to this brand of yoga. Up until now, the only other yoga instructor I liked was Rodney Yee, but Carolyn matches him posture for posture.』

Denise repeats each exercise so you can learn the move before going on to the next one. I hate trying to keep up with sprinting exercise teachers and Denise goes slow enough so even seniors can keep up with this one. I love it. My three year old now does the Morning Asana part with me every morning. I have flattened my ab, lost five pounds and feel much better health wise since using this one. I want to see results without a lot of sweat or grunt work! This is the one for me! The background of Mountain range and the landscape scenes are beautiful as well!』

I was a little nervous after previewing Warrior Workout before trying it. Yes, it is definetly challenging but so worth it in the end. I get a great full body workout as well as a mental workout. I absolutely love how they show you modifications as well as tell you not to overdue it. The meditation at the end is fantastic. After completing the workout I keep the meditation in my head all day and I find it keeps me calm.
I own all but 2 of their workouts, but will be ordering them within the next week.

My whole back was hurting and I was very stiff with no sign of relief. While searching on Amazon.com, I saw and decided to try Viniyoga for the upper back, neck and shoulders. I first used the 32 minute routine and could tell immediately that it would help. I have used the therapy at least five times a week for the last three weeks. It feels as if my posture is improving.
